Missing Person

The stark white corridor smelled of disinfectant just like a normal hospital, but it was very noisy. Officer Grant noticed that there were doors along the corridor, each one with a window. As he passed by the first window, he took a quick glance inside and saw that the walls were padded. This was obviously installed to prevent the patients from hurting themselves; a necessity in a psychiatric hospital, especially one that housed criminals.

Inside, a young woman was in a straitjacket and she was screaming. One of the guards pressed on an intercom and said into the room, "Calm down, Miss Roberts, or I will have to call a doctor!"

The room was soundproof from the inside, probably to prevent the patients from hearing each other and setting each other off, but from the corridor, the noises were loud and clear.

Officer Grant glanced at one of the security guards; he looked unfazed as though it was just white noise.
