Chapter 136

She didn't know what was going on but out of impulse, she wrapped the ring in her handkerchief and stuffed it into her jeans pockets. She should ask Gabriel about it later but for now, she had to find out what the Romano family's heirloom ring was doing in his study, with blood on it. The thought of the last person she had seen with the ring sent her stomach into knots of panic.

In an attempt to forget all about it, she ran her finger along the spines of the new books in the shelf and stopped when she found the ceramic flower pot. Gabriel didn't like flowers. It didn't take long to figure out why he would have ceramic flower pots decorating the shelf. She loved flowers.

The fact that he was changing things in the place he had always considered his hideaway so she would be more comfortable melted her heart.

"Mina?" A deep voice made her nearly scream.

"Oh. Gabriel. You're back…where were you?"

His brows furrowed. "Did something happen?"
