I'll be there

"I'm so sorry for your loss Alexis" he said. She didn't hear him. She didn't hear anyone.

She just sat there in the church. Staring. Staring at the lifeless body of her one and only sister. Staring at the one she adored and admired all her life.

"You're never too old for tickles! "

"Alex! I missed you kiddo! "

She breathed faster as memories flooded her mind. Memories she had once taken for granted were now more precious than the world.

She remembered all her birthdays that Abby had celebrated. All the times she had talked of becoming a doctor. All the times they laughed together. Now she lay there. Lifeless. Dead. An empty vessel of a soul she cared the most about. All the hopes she had gone in a split second. She looked so beautiful even In death. Strange how an entire life of memories, good and bad; dreams, hopes all were gone.

A beautiful kind and sweet human being was lost. One say she was playing around with her and the next she lay lifeless in a coffin. She looked around at the church

People dressed in black. Her mother weeping her heart out. The pastor was talking Dan comforting her mother. Andy flirting with someone at the back row. Jack sat on the front row. His expression was broken.

She looked back at the coffin and walked toward it. The pastor went silent as did the church. Alex reached out her hand to touch her sister. No one stopped her. No one breathed a word.

"I uh.. Life.. life is weird huh? One day. You're playing tickle fight with your sister. The next she...yeah. It's ok. That's.. that's life. I.. guess. I won't cry. But I can't say I won't miss you though. I always thought you would be there when I graduated or when I got married " she said smiling at Abby through tears. She stroked Abby's blonde hair.

"Say hi to dad for me ok? Take care of him.I.. I. will stay strong. I promise you. I will. I Will take care of mom. I will make you proud. When you see me? You'll say,"well done kiddo! " and we.. we'll hug and it would be great! Yeah... I'll make you proud Abby. I'll.. we will meet on the other side. We will have tickle fights again. We will camp out again. Wait for me will ya? I'll be there. I'll give you and dad the biggest bear hug ever. We'll be a family again... soon.. wait for me. I'll be there Abby."

She went and sat next to Jake. A tear rolled down his cheek.

He looked at Alex," we'll be there" he whispered. She nodded.

"We'll be there... "
