The Costliest of All Murders

[THE MIDLANDS]

As the high priestess's eyes closed, Edison knew that things were about to get really bad for him. He wasn't sure what he had been thinking, however, at first, he wasn't supposed to kill the woman.

All he had wanted to do was to hurt the woman so Alanor would let him and Nymeriah go, hence the perfect distraction, but then the perfect distraction had turned out to be the death sentence for so many people in the Midlands.

It didn't matter how long it would take, or what would happen at that time, but one thing was certain. The moment Criselda's eyes closed, and the thunderstorms became so violent across the midlands, everyone knew things would never be the same.

Peace was officially not an option and mercy was never going to make an appearance. The stench of impending death was obvious, even as the thunder rumbled and the skies opened, clearly mourning the loss of one of the most powerful warlocks to ever exist.
