Evelyn would call me non-stop, there were times I would get back from work and I would find her in front of my apartment, this continued for the better part of two weeks and I felt disgusted any time I set my eyes on her. I warned her severally not to come visit me again but she was adamant and had this kind of belief that I would reverse my decision.
I and Beatrice started seeing each other more often, and I grew to like her more, well I have liked her a lot but my relationship with Evelyn didn't allow me to act on those feelings but now she is out of the equation, the coast is clear only problem being that, her supposed ex is now back. His name is Michael and they have been dating for 3 years and just like my ended relationship, he wasn't the best of partners too, just like Evelyn he also was toxic and when I and Beatrice were getting close, they were on a break, that would have been the best time to swoop in as her prince charming. The next time I and Beatrice met, she told me Michael had come back into her life and was begging, promised to be better. "Well I have that before and see where it landed me" I thought to myself. I was distraught with the news but didn't let it show and I advices to follow her heart but something was off in her reply. My instincts were telling me that was not the answer she was expecting, like she was expecting me to fight for her and tell her not to go back to Michael but since she didn't say it, I didn't wanna jump the gun. The night was very awkward afterwards and became drab, Silence became the theme for the night and you could hear echoes from blocks away, and the mind wasn't fully settled on the outcome of tonight's meeting, I wanted to voice out but somehow couldn't, it was like I was having sleep paralysis at the present time only difference is that only my speech was affected and I could walk freely. We had to cut whatever what was going on that night short and head out separate ways, as there was no need to make it more weird as it has already been and we went through different paths, I stayed and looked towards her direction hoping she would at least look back, just one glance at my direction but alas it didn't come and I accepted my fate and move on.
Weeks had passed, Beatrice and I haven't spoken, not a single note hasn't been sent from one end to the other. The silence between us was deafening and it spoke a thousand meanings, there was nothing like she wasn't available or maybe she was incommunicado because she was updating her Social Media, uploading pictures of her and Michael, and whenever I saw that I got mad but then I said to myself, you had your chance, you had your opportunity but you let it pass you by. She was right there in front of you on multiple occasions and you let her slip, and that made everything hurt the more, didn't know which one the cause of the outrage and pain, whether the fact that Evelyn was standing in between me and Beatrice or the fact that I was too slow to act on our mutual feelings, whichever way this felt like I could have lost the only woman could have me the happiest man in the world. Evelyn still didn't relent on her calls and pleas, but they were falling on deaf ears but I have to hand it to her though, her work rate was immense.
Months passed and still no word from Beatrice, seemingly she is now enjoying her rejuvenated relationship, pictures of her and Michael were all over her social media page showing her being euphoric. Seeing those pictures and updates constantly rolling up my timeline made me despondent and somewhat bitter, I didn't like that version of myself, I had to restrict access to her social media and be able to focus, the constant torment was unhealthy and needed to stop.
Football as usual became my solace and it took my mind off Beatrice, though not completely but I could rest easy now, also I had forgiven Evelyn but not accepted her back, told her hell would have to freeze over for that to happen, she wasn't happy with that but who cares, with all she has put me through she should even be happy with those terms.
