Leaving

Ryder's POV

I couldn't take it anymore; I ran inside with tears running down my face. I knew my parents weren't home, so I ran to my room and threw my backpack against the wall, and ripped my sleeve off in the process. I went into my bathroom without locking my door. I dug through my cabinet, looking for my eyeliner sharpener. I ripped the small blade out of the sharpener. I began to run the blade on my wrist. Soon cutting deeper and deeper into my skin. My cold blood dripped down my arm onto my counter. The sting felt so good. It made me feel alive. I took a deep breath and gave myself one last deep cut. I closed my eyes and tilted my head back. I took in a long breath in and breath out. In a sense, I felt like I was on a cloud. Nothing around me mattered, but I was soon drawn back to reality when I heard a creak. I quickly grabbed a hoodie and put it on.

"Dad?!...Mom?!" I called out but got no response.

I know that I heard something. I knew that someone was here, but who? I went downstairs carefully. I looked at the door, and something was off. I stared at the door, hoping it would tell me what I was missing. The lock! I didn't lock the door, so why was it locked? By the time it had clicked in my head, it was too late. Someone had come up from behind me with a cloth and covered my mouth. I struggled and tried to shake them off, but they were stronger than me. I felt them inject me; it must be pure silver since I felt myself lose all my strength. My eyelids felt heavy; I tried to keep them open but couldn't. I felt myself fade away as the darkness consumed me.

***

My head and back hurt. I slowly opened my eyes but couldn't see anything. I could feel cold cement on my back and butt. It must be a basement of some sort. I closed and opened my eyes again, hoping to be able to see something, but nothing. The drug must still be in my system and strong for me not to use my night vision. My hands feel cold. They are tied together by rope at the wrist. My ankles as well. I hear a heavy door open.

"Hello?... Who's there?!" I yell out, trying not to sound too scared.

The person walked closer and closer. They grabbed my hair and pulled my head back. I groaned in pain.

"Can't see me, Ryder~." A low voice said.

He blew into my face and let go of my hair. The voice sounded familiar.

"I'm disappointed you don't recognize my voice. After all the trouble I went to? To make sure you would have an unforgettable birthday." His monotone voice spoke.

My vision was slowly coming back; I could only see bur colors.

"You know... this room is kinda hot. As a great host, I should help you out." I could hear the smirk.

I felt his hands tightly grab the neck of my hoodie. I could see clearer, and then I felt the hood get torn in half in a swift motion. I closed my eyes and started to move to the side violently. He grabbed me by my jaw.

"Stay still." He demanded.

I open my eyes and met light brown eyes. I knew who these eyes belonged to. I could hear my heartbeat.

"M-Matthew?" I said his name in a quiet voice.

"You can see me now. We can have some real fun now. I want you to see everything I am going to do to you." He laughed.

I kept moving around.

"HELP! HELP! HELP ME!!" I yelled with such force that my throat hurt.

Matthew grabbed me and shoved me on the ground with my back facing him.

"No one will hear you, so yell, all you want." I knew there was no point in yelling, but I wasn't going to give up.

I got rolled over, so I was now facing him. He held onto my wrist over my head.

"The view was nice, but I want to watch the look on your face." What the hell?

What was he planning on doing? I need to find a way to get out of here. He grabbed a chain and clipped it to the rope on my wrist. He moved down to my ankles and lightly tugged at the rope, making it a little loose.

"Can't do that yet. You might kick me." He set his hands on both sides of me.

I forgot to tighten the rope again. He just looked at me and smirked. He then set his hands on my hips. His fingers curled, and he was now holding onto my pants. My eyes widen. I started to move my legs, hoping to make the rope looser. I notice the chain had made the rope on my wrist looser as well. I started to pull down my pants, and I could feel my eyes water and my vision blur. I kept moving violently, and my feet became loose. I lifted my leg closer to me and kicked Matthew. He fell back, and I managed to turn on my stomach and pull myself up. I used my teeth to pull at the rope and free myself. I got up on all 4's and started to crawl. Matthew got to my leg and pulled me back. I kept kicking to get loose. I managed to get on top of me. My feet kept kicking, and I started scratching at his face.

"Get oFf of mE!" I yelled with such force it surprised both of us.

I kicked him in the balls and pushed him off of me. I got up and ran to the door and opened it, but fell in pain. I felt my body on fire. I felt my bones crunch.

"AaHhugGgHh!" I yelled in horrible pain.

I started to scratch at my back. I felt my nails dig into me and rip my flesh. I could everything in me move. I was having my first shift! I kept groaning out in pain, and then it stopped. I looked and saw paws. I didn't even think. I got up and ran out the door. There were stairs, and the door at the top was open. I kept running; I could stop to think. I had to keep running! The was another door I'm sure it leads outside.

"Ryder!!" I heard Matthew yell.

He was right behind me. I ran into the wooden door, and it broke. It hurt, but I kept running, and Matthew followed behind me. I didn't know where I was or how to get home. Matthew was catching up, but something ran into him. I didn't have time to look back and see what it was. I ran and ran. At some point, the sun was no longer out. The moon shined brightly on me. I was so tired from running; I was lost. I stopped to drink some water from a pond. I heard a stick crack. I quickly looked around. A ghost-like wolf came out of the bushes.

"I'm not here to hurt you. I am here to help you." The wolf said.

My guard was up.

"My name is Cole. I was sent to help you; I ran into the other wolf so you could get away. I can show you the way back home, but you need to trust me." He continued.

I felt safe, so I followed him. I was afraid to talk to him. I'm pretty sure he noticed, so he kept talking.

"I come from a special group of wolves. I am in the mid-stage. I'm not fully dead nor alive. I was a warrior when I was alive, but that was long ago. My job is to help and protect you, the guardian. You have been chosen to protect the forest and the animals and spirits that live in it. I know it's a lot to take in, after everything you have been through in the past 2 days."

I kept listening and taking in everything he was telling me.

"We are almost there. As you grow up, I will teach you my ways and all the knowledge I know. Soon you will be ready to take your place in the Castiel. Call my name when you need my help, and I will always find you, Ryder, where ever you are. Expect me to visit you and train you." He stopped and looked to the side. I looked over, and I could see my house. I looked back at Cole to thank him, but he was gone.

"Ryder!" I heard my name being called from my house.

I looked over and could see my parents. I ran over. I was so happy I was back home. My father ran back inside once he saw me. He came back out with a blanket. My parents rushed over to me and hugged me. My father coved me with the blanket.

"I know you're tired, honey, but you can turn back." My father said to me.

He looked at me with such sadness in his eyes. I didn't know how to turn back, but now that I was home, I could fully relax. That must have been the key. I turned back. My father picked me up, and my mother held my hand.

"We can't stay here. You're not safe; you might never be, honey." My mother said.

I was brought to the bathroom and left. There was clothing on the counter, so I took a shower. Once I got out and changed, I went to the living room where my parents waited for me. They got up and hugged me. I couldn't help but cry and cry. My father just held me in his arms and stroked my head. I sat down, and he pulled me down with him. I just cried. Eventually, I cried myself to sleep in his arms.
