Chapter 29: Bounty Hunter

In the sandy desert of Sanus where Vacuo is located, a woman in her twenties was lounging around a camper van. She had a wanted poster of Scarlet on hand as she had picked it up from Shade academy, she tossed a empty bottle into a box that was near.

The woman grins a little. "So, this is the new big bad everyone's talking about? I'm surprised General Ironwood hasn't given me a call." She stood up and stretched. "Oh well, it's not like this bounty is in Atlas...I have plenty of time."

The wind blew some of the sand up making a small sand storm, the sand was hitting against the camper van as the woman scoffs a little. "Fuck, I gotta get me more drinks." She pulled out her scroll as she looked at it. "No calls, no emails...damn it."

Suddenly her scroll went off, as she eyed it for a moment. "Well about damn time." She pushed the talk button on her scroll. "General, good to hear from you again. What's keeping you from calling me?"

Ironwood sighs. "Haven't you been paying attention? Every since Beacon fell, communications have been hard, only certain communications work, listen I'm sending a Atlas airship to you."

The woman snickered a little. "Hell yeah, but why though?"

"I have a job for you." Ironwood said. "I'll explain once you get here."

The woman groaned. "Ugh...okay, this better be a good paying job James."

"It will, trust me Krystal." Ironwood said.

Krystal snickered. "You always know what's best General." She hung up as she turned her head to her twin katanas. "Well ladies, looks like it's time to get back to work." She picked up her swords as she put them onto her back.

The Atlas ship made it to Vacuo as Krystal had gotten on, she noticed Deity was also on. She sat down as she pulled out a cigarette. "Got a light?"

Deity sighed. "You know smoking is bad for you right?" She leaned over and lit the cigarette.

Krystal shrugged. "Eh, I'm a bounty hunter. I don't give two shits about my health, I've been in pretty good shape."

"That's not the point." Deity said shaking her head. "Look, you're getting a new job from the General, but it doesn't have to do anything with the bounty you're holding right now."

Krystal crossed her arms. "Aw man, that sucks balls."

Deity sighed again as she looked at the bounty paper. "Hmm...."

"What is it?" Krystal asked as she blew out some smoke from her nose.

"It's nothing." Deity said. "I just had a weird deja vu moment."

Krystal took a puff of smoke in as she blew it out after. "And here I was looking forward to getting all that payment on the new bounty..."

Deity thinks for a moment as she snaps her fingers. "That reminds me, there's a group who traveled from Patch all the way to Atlas, I think they may have had a run in with the person on the wanted poster. Maybe you can track down the group after your job for the General is done."

Krystal cracks her knuckles. "Hehe, I'm liking that idea already Deity. By the way, what are you doing anyway?"

Deity cocks an eyebrow up. "Well I was going to go to Vale, but that had a change of plans. So I went to Atlas the other day, met up with the General while Winter told me about the group."

"Mmhm, sounds like the same old stuff to me." Krystal said.

"Oh yeah, and the relic of knowledge as well." Deity said as she rubs her chin a little. "I'm not sure what else there was, but Winter did tell me all of that."

"Eh?! The relic of knowledge?!" Krystal shouted.

~~~
Once at Atlas, Krystal had gotten off as she threw her cigarette away. She glanced back not seeing Deity anymore which made her confused, but shrugged as she made her way into the Academy to meet up with Ironwood.
"Ah, there you are." Winter said noticing Krystal.
Krystal waved. "Hello Winter."
Krystal followed Winter to Ironwood's office, the walked in as Ironwood turned away from the window. "Perfect timing."
"General." Krystal said.
"Please sit." Ironwood said as he took his seat at his desk. "I'm sure you're wondering why I called you all the way here."
Krystal nods her head a little. "Yeah, I'm wondering that."
Ironwood put's his elbows on the desk as he put's his hands together. "I want you to make sure no one interferes with the election that's going to happen. Votes are already rolling in, half of them are for Robyn Hill, while the rest are for Jacques Schnee."
Krystal cocks an eyebrow up. "So...this isn't any bounty hunt then?" She scoffed a little. "That's not much a fun game to me, you know damn well I'm a bounty hunter. Not some bodyguard for the press or the candidates running for council."
Ironwood sighs as he took his arms off the desk. "I had a feeling you were going to say that." He looked over to Winter as he nodded his head.
Winter walked out of the room as she went down the hall, leaving Ironwood and Krystal.
"I will see that you're payed." Ironwood said. "Right now, there's no bounty be placed on anyone that's a threat to us."
"Really?" Krystal asked as she looked at him. "Have you noticed any wanted posters for anyone? If not, I can show you one. But it might not do any good, since no one knows if they're here or not."
Ironwood cocks an eyebrow up. "Hmm? What do you mean?"
Krystal pulled out the wanted poster of Scarlet and placed it onto the desk. "This." She looked at Ironwood for a bit before looking back at the poster. "This Scarlet chick is wanted, dead or alive. She's got a good bounty on her head."
"Hmm, and we don't know if she's here in Atlas.." Ironwood said as he lets out a sigh. "Alright, after this job. You can go look for her, but if she isn't here in Atlas or Mantle. You can leave to hunt her down, but I can't help be get the feeling on why she looks like Ruby..."
Krystal shrugged. "Never met her, so I wouldn't know." She turned around as she headed towards the door. "It's great doing business with you again James."
