Chapter Twelve

Chloe rubbed her hands together as she blew on them, desperately trying to warm them up. She glanced around the dressing room, quickly placing her hands on the heater when she eventually found it. She sighed when she realised that it wasn't on.

"It's freezing." she said as she passed Adrian.

"I thought I could hear teeth chattering." Adrian chuckled. Chloe glanced over at Lee as she heard him sigh. He was sat at his usual place on the sofa, frantically writing something in a notebook. Chloe smiled at Nathan as he walked into the room and handed her a coffee.

"God your hands are cold." Nathan gasped as he accidentally brushed his hand against hers.

Chloe smiled at him as she wrapped her hands around the coffee, trying to warm them up.

"Did you forget to put your heating on?" Adrian chuckled.

"I don't have any heating at the moment." she admitted.

"You should get it fixed then; winter is on its way." Nathan pointed out.

"Is it, I hadn't noticed." Chloe snapped, instantly regretting her words as soon as they were out of her mouth.

"Sorry, I'm cold and tired and it's making me grumpy." she admitted. Nathan smiled at her and took the coffee out of her hands, placing it safely on the counter. She stiffened slightly as he pulled her into his arms, taking her cold hands in his.

"Jeez Chloe, you're freezing." Nathan whispered.

"Do you want me to have a word with your landlord about the heating?" Nathan offered, when a few moments had passed, and Chloe had finally stopped shivering.

"No, it's fine, I'll do it later." Chloe said, removing herself from his arms now that she felt warmer. Chloe suddenly remembered that Matt had asked her to figure out a set list for the band for their run of London shows that started tonight.

"Lee, are you working on the set list?" Chloe asked quietly. A couple of weeks had passed since the confrontation between Lee and herself and they had barely spoken since. Chloe couldn't help but feel relieved that she was finally getting less grief from him, which meant she could focus on figuring out everything else in her life.

"Nope." he replied shortly.

"What are you doing then?" she asked, not entirely sure if he was telling the truth or being petulant.

"If it's not to do with work, we aren't meant to be discussing it, that was one of your precious rules wasn't it." Lee said sarcastically.

"He is writing a song." Nathan quickly interjected, before things escalated between the two of them.

"Have you got a title for it yet?" he added.

"It's called Broken." Lee said quietly, before quickly turning back to the notebook to add some more.

"Well, we need to sort the set list, I only have an hour before I have to go and meet the band I'm going to be working with." Chloe sighed, feeling slightly frustrated that she was having to ask them again.

"Go now then." Lee said dismissively.

"We have to get this done first." Chloe insisted.

"What do you know about set lists, you're not even a singer?!" Lee scoffed.

"Lee." Nathan warned him.

"It's true though, all she knows how to do is make up and outfits and even then, she gets that wrong most of the time." Lee continued completely ignoring Nathan's warning.

"Just go." Nathan told Chloe. It was obvious that Lee was going to keep saying nasty things until he really upset Chloe and Nathan desperately wanted to prevent that. Every time that Chloe accidentally hurt Lee he always seemed to lash out, as if he was trying to prove that he was untouchable. Chloe sighed and left the room like Nathan suggested.

Kathleen paced her bathroom as she could feel herself slowly beginning to panic. As soon as she had seen the positive pregnancy test, her heart had plummeted. She had no idea what to do for the best. She wasn't ready for a child, so what the hell was she supposed to do? She ran her hands through her hair, trying her hardest not to have a full-blown meltdown. She knew in her heart that she could never terminate the baby, so she would have to figure out what she was going to do.

A lump rose in her throat as a thought suddenly occurred to her. She needed to get her pregnancy dated so that she could determine who the father was.
