Chapter 7

"Veronica, what the hell?" Navi came bashing the door in Veronica's room

Veronica didn't respond Navi.

"Veronica, what is wrong tell me? Why the hell did you leave me in the office and came alone?" Navi asked again

Veronica didn't respond.

~Flashback~

Navi was working on designs of her recent projects. She was looking for errors in the coding when her phone rang.

She looked at the caller ID to find Veronica calling. She checked the time to find its 5 pm. She picked up the call.

"Hey dude. I think I will be late by just 15 minutes. Just wait for me. I will meet you downstairs." Navi spoke

"Its okay Navi. I am in a bit hurry. Thats why I called you to tell you that I am leaving from the office as my work is finished. You can complete your work and then come." Veronica replied

"Its just 15 minutes. Or Wait. Let it be. I will complete this tomorrow. I will come downstairs." Navi spoke

"No no no. Don't do that. Just finish your work and then come. Bye." Veronica replied and hung up on her before Navi could reply

"What the hell?" Navi spoke while looking at her phone shocked

She completed her work and was going downstairs when her phone rang. It was Mrs. Ray calling. She picked up the call.

"Hi Mrs. Ray. I am just on my way." Navi spoke

"Honey. What is wrong? Why didn't you and Veronica came together?" Mrs. Ray asked

"Mrs. Ray I was just 15 minutes late. I asked her to wait. But she left me. I don't know what is wrong with her." Navi replied

"Honey something seems fishy. Veronica came inside the house and without meeting us she went directly in her room. I asked her to come to the dinning room for dinner as I made her favourite lasagna and brownies, she shouted that she is sleeping and she is not going to have dinner. I went to her room to see what she was doing and saw that she was sleeping." Mrs. Ray spoke

"She said she is not having dinner. Mrs. Ray are you sure she said that? Veronica can never in her life skip food. That too if you are cooking her favourite meal. Plus even if not for the meal, she would never say no to brownies. I will come and meet you in 20 minutes. I am leaving from the office." Navi replied and ended the call.

She reached the Ray's residence. She entering when she met Mr. Ray.

"Navi you came. What is wrong with her? Did something happened in the office?" Mr. Ray asked

"I don't know that Mr. Ray. I am sure something must have happened there. Let me meet her." Navi spoke and with that she walked towards Veronica's room.

Navi went to the side Veronica was lying down and sat beside her.

"Why the hell you are sleeping? Aren't you insomniac? This is not your routine time to sleep. You will wake up early like this." Navi spoke

Veronica didn't respond again.

Navi then caressed Veronica's head.

"Dude you are burning. What is wrong with you?"

Navi called Mr. and Mrs. Ray.

Mr. Ray called the doctor to check Veronica.

"I think its normal change of temperature. Its seasonal fever. Nothing to be worried about. I already gave her the injections. She will be sleeping till the morning peacefully." Doctor spoke

"But doctor its a very high fever. She will be fine?" Navi enquired

"Ofcourse she will be. And here, take this and give it to her once she wakes up. Also she will be very weak because of this, so make sure she takes complete rest and have her food properly." Doctor spoke while handling Navi few tablets.

Navi nodded

"Thank you doctor." Mrs. Ray spoke

"Your welcome Mrs. Ray. Take care." Doctor replied and left.

Mrs. Ray and Navi stayed all night awake beside Veronica.

"Navi do you think something happened in the office? I mean why didn't she tell you that she was not well?" Mrs. Ray enquired

" I don't know Mrs. Ray. She will be the only one to explain this." Navi said while pointing to Veronica

"Don't worry Mrs. Ray, she will be fine. We all know that she is a fighter. Its just a fever." Navi continued

"You know Navi, Veronica gets rarely ill. And if she has fever all of a sudden that means she was scared of something. In fear she gets fever." Mrs. Ray replied while caressing her daughter's face

"I don't think that she will be sacred of her boss. You know her, she can scare people. There is something else." Navi replied

Mrs. Ray nodded while looking at her daughter.

Next morning

"No, she won't be able to come to office. She is not well." Veronica heard someone speaking

"What's that noise?

Where am I?

Why does everything seems so bright?

Why everything I see is blur?

Why the hell is my head spinning?" Veronica thought

"Ahhh. What is wrong with me?" Veronica spoke in frustration while keeping a hand on her head.

She was trying to remember what happened yesterday. Why she is like this.

"I was in the office. Then what happened?" Veronica thought

Yesterday events came crashing all of a sudden.

"I need to speak to mom dad urgently." Veronica rushed towards her parents room.

She started feeling dizzy as soon as she started standing. But with the support of bed she stood up from her bed and started moving towards her parents room. Once she found them, she shouted

"Mom dad"

"Veronica, why are you here. Go to your bed." Mrs. Ray instructed

"Veronica sweetie, you are not well. Just go to bed." Mr. Ray asked

"Mom dad, I need to speak to you urgently." Veronica spoke ignoring their previous comments

"Veronica go upstairs, take rest, we will talk afterwards." Mrs. Ray spoke

"Mom, you are not understanding." Veronica replied

"Veronica" Mrs. Ray spoke in a warning tone but before she could further continue Veronica interrupted

"Mom, Natalie is coming back and is going to live with us." Veronica informed

Mr. and Mrs. Ray seemed alarmed by the news.

"What happened?" Mr. Ray asked

"Why all of a sudden?" He further continued

"I don't think she is safe where she is." Veronica replied

"What do you mean by not safe? She is alright? Right?" Mrs. Ray asked

"They found us!" Veronica replied
