CHAPTER TWO

Damian just finished signing the last couple of memos and investment plans when he heard the front door opening and closing followed by the sound of his sons loud giggles. He sighs and prepares himself, smiling as his seven year old came running into his office with something in his hand.

"Hey pup, what do you got there?" Damian picks the child up and sat him on his lap, facing him so that he could see what the child was holding.

Maverick smiled his adorable canine smile and showed his father the cute little insect he caught. "It's a caterpillar daddy, look it's so cute and it's blue! My favorite color!"

Damian chuckled and ruffled the child's hair. "Why don't you put it back in the garden so that it can continue to grow and be a butterfly? Okay?"

The child make a cute thinking face before nodding his head and showed another canine smile.

"Okay daddy!" He got off his father's lap, giggling as he ran out of the room leaving Damian with a smile on his face. His sons never fails to relieve him of stress with just being their adorable selves.

Sighing, Damian faced his work papers again. He already signed what needed to be signed, reviewed what needed to be reviewed. He even recalculated all the finance reports to make sure that no money went missing or miscounted. Looking at his peach inspired wall clock, one of his son had chosen it, and it read a half an hour passed five pm, it's almost time for dinner.

Just then, one of his sons walks in into his office as he gathers all his paperwork and slips it inside his messenger bag.

"Hey dad, uhm, can I talk to you for a minute?" Luca stood beside the desk, watching and waiting until his father was done with the papers.

"What do you need sport?" Damian swiveled his chair and stood up, removing his phone from charging to see if there was any new notifications but saw none. He turns to his son again who still stood by the desk, now he notice how he looked somewhat nervous.

Damian frowned and opened his mouth to speak but didn't get to say anything when Maverick came running into the office again, now pulling little shy Diego with him.

"Daddy, I'm hungry and so is Diego, when is dinner going to be ready?" The child looks up at his father with a slight pout.

The man sighs, passing a look to his eldest, a look that clearly says we'll-talk-later, and Luca just nods his head in understanding. Damian averted his gaze and smiled down at his two youngest sons.

"What do you say we go out for dinner? Hmmm?" Damian tried to contain his smile but failed as the two little boys' eyes went wide and they both started jumping excitedly. "Go get your coats then" the man chuckled as Maverick ran out of the room giggling with Diego quietly following closely behind.

"I'll help them" Luca chuckled and left the room to follow Maverick, knowing all too well that the 7 year old will most likely make a mess while searching for his coat.

That child is too messy and a bit clumsy, he will trip over anything especially when he's too excited while his younger brother, Diego, is the total opposite. Clean, well-behaved and calm most of the time. He doesn't get all hyper like Maverick and sometimes Diego thinks his youngest son is an old soul. He acts too mature for a five year old but Damian doesn't really mind. Maverick is already enough hyper child in the household.

After making sure that Maverick puts on his coat correctly, Luca left the room and went to check on Diego. He saw the child already wearing his coat, properly, and is sitting in the middle of his bed with his headphones on.

Luca remember giving those headphones a couple of weeks ago, for Christmas, and Diego loves it. He never even let Maverick touch it because it will surely be broken because of Maverick's clumsiness.

Luca just smiled to himself, leaving his brother's room, who didn't even notice his presence, and left to his own room to put his own coat on.

He enters his room and immediately went to his closet, he chose a simple grey long sleeve and walks back to his bed, placing the long sleeve on the bed before removing his shirt and chucking it on the bin. He was in the middle of slipping the long sleeve on when he caught glimpse of his window and he froze when he saw a familiar boy, the one he met earlier from the neighbor’s house, staring at him from his own window that was perfectly aligned to Luca's window.

The small male was blushing and it only took Luca a second to realize why. He was still half naked. Luca hastily puts on the long sleeve shirt, messily brushing his fingers in his hair in hopes to fix it before walking closer to his window with a smile.

"Hi!" Luca's greeting seemed to have snapped the boy from his thoughts (and staring) and when he saw the neighbor’s kid smiling at him, he huffed in annoyance and was about to shut his window close when Luca shouted something.

"What?" Ezra stared at Luca with full annoyance but that didn't bother the latter at all. He was too focused on how adorable the boy looked, like an angry marshmallow.

"I was wondering if I could at least get your name," Luca push his lower lip out in a pout and he saw the corner of the other boy's mouth tug up in a smile though he tries to hide it but Luca already saw it.

"It's Ezra." said the boy and he already shut the windows close before Luca could say something back.

Chuckling to himself, Luca closed his own window. He chose a pair of shoes from under his bed and slip it on. Collects his phone and wallet from the nightstand then left the room just as Maverick came running past him, shoes mismatched and his scarf getting dragged on the floor. Rolling his eyes, Luca went after his brother.

He found Maverick in the living room, sitting on the carpeted floor with his bunny plush he calls Mr. Tomnus in front of him. The 7 year old seems like he's having a conversation with the plush toy and Luca just stood by the doorway, watching with a smile while secretly filming with his phone. He loves capturing cute moments, especially his brothers'.

Maverick eventually notices his older brother’s presence and grins adorably, waving his hand when he saw the phone filming then made Mr. Tomnus face the camera too, using his hand to make the bunny plush's hand to move and wave at the camera too. Luca chuckled and decided to end the video. He saves the video on a special folder before slipping his phone in his back pocket and went to where Maverick is sat with Mr. Tomnus.

"Come on buddy, let's fix your shoes." At the mention of shoes, Maverick looks down at his feet and he adorably gasps as he finally takes notice of his mismatched shoes. Luca chuckled at the cute reaction and carefully lifted Maverick (and Mr. Tomnus) and they went back to the kid's room to correct his shoes and fix his scarf.

Damian was in the kitchen, packing the kids' medicine bag. Making sure to pack a couple of amoxicillin and paracetamol chewables for Diego because the child was feeling feverish earlier in the morning then Maverick's antihistamines for his rhinitis. The only healthy being in their household is Luca because Damian was also suffering a mild case of migraine caused by overworking his self.

He opens the fridge to check if they need to do some grocery shopping and unfortunately they have to, the kids' milk had already ran out along with their favorite juice boxes that they bring to school. There's only a couple of Luca's vitamin drinks left and they also need to refill their pantry (which Damian checked earlier when he was to make breakfast for the boys).

Closing the fridge, Damian sighs and looks out the window, noticing that he could also see the neighbor’s kitchen from where he stood as it also have a window perfectly aligned to Damian's kitchen window. Just as Damian was about to avert his gaze, the most beautiful person he has ever seen stops at the window.

Damian felt his heart thumping on his chest as he stared at the person who was completely unaware of the eyes on him. His long blonde hair falling effortlessly as he cradled a baby on his arms and Damian could only watch in awe as the person softly cooed at the baby, he sways gently side to side while holding a bottle to the baby's mouth.

Angelic. That's the perfect word to describe the person standing before Damian and when that person smiled, Damian felt something stirred within him but he frowns at that.

It couldn't be. It was impossible because the last time he felt like that, heart thumping like crazy and butterflies in his tummy, was when he fell in love with the mother of his children. And when she died, Damian thought he was never capable of having those kinds of feelings again.

The feeling of falling in love.
