The loud banging at the door forced me to open my eyes. I groaned, burying my face into my pillow, before reluctantly stumbling to my feet. I slipped on my fuzzy slippers as I yawned. I turned my head to the clock on top of my small dresser. The digital clock flashed ten minutes past midnight. It was definitely past curfew, who could be knocking this late.
I turned to my roommate, who somehow managed to still be asleep through this noisy debacle. I crept towards the door, careful not to wake Seth. He was the most unpleasant guy without his full nine hours of sleep. I twisted the door handle ever so slightly and pulled the door open slowly.
However, what laid on the other side of the door, made my efforts to keep quiet seem pointless. "Happy birthday!" Jack yelled and immediately I shushed him. I slipped out of the room, clicking the door shut behind me.
He was standing in nothing but his pajamas and a hoodie, in the middle of the night, outside my room.
