Chapter 19. Traitor

Roman (Point of View)

The drive back home was long and incredibly boring. I resigned myself to being quiet despite Otis’ efforts to get me to talk back to him.

“What happened to your legs? Was it steel? Did you and Arlene argue?” He asked all those questions, including a bit of advice on how to treat a woman. On any given day, I’d probably have taken his advice considering he had had a mate longer than I had, but today was not the right time for all that. I highly appreciated his concern and with his amusing humor, I could not help but throw in a smile every now and then. Before I knew it, I was fast asleep.

When we got to my house, nothing seemed in order. All the werewolves in the vicinity seemed misplaced and it seemed like something serious had transpired.

“Thanks a lot Otis. Take care of her when you get back. And please make sure all the wolves around her are mated.” I told him with a small smile coming across my face.
