Chapter Fifteen

Cherry came in time to keep me company after Jake left to hang out with his friends.

"Thank God you're here. I was scared shitless."

"Why would you be scared, I mean, it's your house right?" Cherry asked confused.

"Someone has been threatening me for some time now." I said in a low voice.

"First, it was back then when we were still living with Jake's parents and it happened again the night we moved in here."

"Have you gone to the police or something?"

"No. Jake told me he was going to take care of everything. And I overheard him speaking with someone on the phone just before he left the house." I paused and took in a deep breath.

"He said something about someone escaping. I don't want anything to go wrong Cher."

She pulled me into a hug and comfortrf me.

"It will be alright. Everything will be fine. I know for sure that Jake won't let any harm come to you and your baby."

"I hope so."

"Cherry, I think I'm falling for Jake." And she gave me a warm smile like she expected it to happen.

"I just knew it." She said with her hands on her hips. "He's the one for you Nicki. And forget that asshole of a boyfriend. I mean how could he do what he did. I swear I'm going to fucking cut his balls off if I see him near you." Her tone sounded so serious.

"Now, over to you. How did you let yourself get so whipped by that dude." And she turned crimson.

"Hey, can we not talk about that now?"

"Nah. I'm your best friend so I guess I have the right to know."

She raises her hand in defeat before briefing me.

"It all started at the library. I needed to do some research on a course and we met there. I just fell in love with him instantly."

"After that day we went out for coffee and we started seeing each other. After a while, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes. He's so cute when he tells me he loves me."

"I'm happy for you Cher. At least you get to rest your ass a bit."

She threw me one of those deadly glares and I chuckled. I love seeing her this way. It's fun watching her get mad at me.

"You know what Nicki? He's the best fuck I've had in a long time."

"Oh no. Cherry that was uncalled for. You're making me jealous."

Her eyes widened at my statement.

"Don't tell me you both haven't, you know what I mean."

"Sorry to disappoint you, we haven't. We've done a few things though. He licks me pretty well." I giggled at the thought of our early morning tongue fuck.

"Earth to Nicki." She said snapping her fingers in my face.

"Now tell me, what plans do you have for Christmas. Do you plan on going for a trip with your boyfriend?" I ask Cher.

"Not really. We actually planned to spend time here with my parents."

"That's really a big progress. I hope you guys aren't in a rush."

"You're such an idiot. I never said we were getting married."

"Oh yeah."

"I don't know what plans Jake has for this Christmas."

"Oh, I almost forgot to ask. What's your child's gender?"

I actually forgot. "That reminds me, I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow. I'll be able to know the child's gender tomorrow."

"What do you expect?"

I replied her pouting a little, "a boy but I think Jake wants a girl."

"That's not a problem. You could just hope it's a set of twins." she said grinning from ear to ear.

"What? I can barely even take care of myself and Jake." I replied her a bit startled.

She let out a loud laugh. What's funny. No I don't want two. Just one.

"So, when do you plan on having yours?" I asked with a serious look.

"My what?"

"You know. Your own kid."

"Nicole are you crazy? I don't want a kid. You of all people should know that."

"Hmm. Interesting. Have you considered what your boyfriend wants?"

"Nicki, just stop. I don't want a kid. I dread changing diapers. And having an extra person bite of my nipples is no fun."

I laughed at her and she glared at me. If only looks could kill, I'll be dead already.

"You know, I think it's fun having an extra mouth on your boobs. Sounds like a good threesome."

"God, Nicole, you disgust me. Just move away. I'm actually hungry." She said and push past me, moving towards the kitchen.

"There's no food, Cher."

"You're such a lazy brat. Remind me why we're friends."

"Because you love me, Bitch."

"You wish." She says going through my fridge.

"Anything that makes you sleep at night."

Cher's hunger is actually contagious. Or I think so. Now I'm hungry.

"Cherry, how about you make us omelettes." I suggested.

"Fine. I'm so hungry. I could eat you whole."

"Never Cher. I'm not your boyfriend."

"Seems someone is feeling horny." I rolled my eyes at her.

"Cherry, hurry up I'm so hungry. And please make it appetizing, I can't risk losing my appetite."

"Watch it Nicki."

After dinner, we both went to bed, my former room. She kept on complimenting on how Jake's mom was the best mother in-law ever.

I love the fact that I don't have to sleep alone at nights. I love sleeping in Jake's arms. I love to cuddle with him. And I love him too. I just hope the feeling is mutual.

I checked my time, 11:43. Where did Jake go? Why was he not back yet, I was having a very bad feeling.

Just as I was about to sleep, I heard movements. I turned my head to see Cherry asleep. So who was it then?

I turned and saw the same silhouette of a person I see everytime. I started to panic. Why did Jake have to leave me all to myself today?

The person moved closer to the bed and stopped. I guessed he noticed we were two females on the bed.

I looked at him, in the darkness of the room, and sighted the shiny edge of the dagger in his hands.

What to do? I tried to think of something to do but nothing came to my head. Just then I noticed someone else behind the person.

Could this night get any worse? Two assassins for just me. What did I do to deserve this.

I watched the person behind lift his hand to hit the one with a dagger. He smashed his head with a bottle and he collapsed to the ground.

I reached out immediately to the light switch on my bed stand.

It's Jake. I mean the one that hit the other is Jake.

"Jake, why did you leave?"

"Not now Nicole." He stomps his feet on his victim. "Who are you? Who sent you. How much are they paying you to threaten my fiancée's life?"

The person on the floor was wearing a mask. Jake bent over to remove the mask and almost immediately, a loud scream escaped my lips when I saw blood rushing from Jake's arm. He got stabbed and the guy managed to escape.

"Nicole, calm down." That's Cherry's voice.

I run over to where Jake lay holding his head. Did he also get hit on the head?
