In this world when soulmates turn 17 they can hear what is happening in their soulmate's head, Thoughts, and music particularly.  And this is Jewelia's story in this strange world. Jewelia is a troubled girl. Her mother is never around and her father is dead. At school, a group of boys tends to make her life miserable. But this group of boys, one of them is special, he never physically hurts her, he never seeks her out to hurt her as his buddies do.  His friends have beaten and bruised Jewelia and he hates seeing it happen but doesn't know how to stop it until they discover something that no one expected. Mind and Music

 Classes went by smoothly that day. I was headed to lunch with Jacob. His little announcement spread through the school pretty quickly. I was getting dirty looks left and right. The girls looked pissed and the boys glared at me like I seduced him or something. I get my food and head to my normal spot. Jacob doesn’t redirect me this time, he follows and sits with me. I smile softly, at least I don’t have to socialize with people at lunch. 


 Halfway through our comfortably silent lunch Jake reaches up with a napkin and wipes some sauce off my face. I giggle as he does and wipe a smudge off his cheek. He laughs. It’s hardy but smooth like silk. I love it. I don’t understand why I’m falling for him so hard and fast but it feels right. I feel like he will always be there to protect me even if he isn’t physically there. But I still worry about when he’s not around. Especially with all the looks, I’m getting. 


 He must have noticed because he took my hand in his and kisses it gently. I smile at him and I know he knows what I’m thinking. I love you. 


The next thing I hear makes me smile brighter. I have always loved you.
