Chapter 14

2 Days Later…

Raiden was in his dorm room, he found it hard to believe that no less than 48 hours ago his roommate had been captured by Karma and some woman named Yami. It had also been two days since the scientist took a blood sample to see if he was compatible with cure, he sat on the edge of his bed. Why am I still sitting here feeling sorry for myself? Raiden thought to himself as he clenched his fist. He hated the feeling of both defeat, and self pity it was never a feeling he could stand even as a child. As he continued to dwell on the events from the previous two days a knock on the door caught his attention. Raiden got to his feet and walked over to the door opening it, “Hello?” He asked as he answered the door only to be met with Akino standing in the hallway.

“Hello, is Carmen here? My Master wanted me to thank her for letting me stay here the other day” said Akino.

“Oh...uhh about that…” said Raiden.

“Has something happened to Carmen?” Murasakino asked.

“Yeah...um go back to Riku and tell him that I want to hold a meeting in the cafeteria” Raiden said.

Murasakino nodded and ran off in the direction of hers and Riku’s dorm to go and tell him what he had told her. Raiden sighed as he closed the door and sat back down on his bed looking over at Carmen’s side of the room. This all happened because of me...Raiden thought as he sat there, after about 5 minutes or so he shook his head. Raiden got off the bed and to the door, he walked out of his dorm. He turned around to close and lock the door behind him then made his way to the cafeteria so he could break the news to his friends that Carmen was captured by Karma.

Raiden walked through the doors of the cafeteria scanning the room for his classmates luckily he found them. Though all of the other classes were staring at them, like they were a class with special privileges that the other classes despised. Once Raiden took a seat with the rest of his class the other students all went back to what they were doing before he had walked in. Everyone was sitting at their usual spots, except for Murasakino and Lillie since they were both new to the class.

“So what did you want to gather all of us here for?” Riku asked.

“Well um...there isn’t anyway that I can really put it” Raiden took a deep breath and calmed himself down. “Carmen was captured by Karma and some woman...she fought back but I was knocked out,” said Raiden.

“How did YOU get knocked out?” Riku asked.

“I was tired from the tests that the doctor ran on me” Raiden said.

“Right, so what did you want us to do?” Lotus asked.

“Keep an eye out for Carmen and Karma, they could still be in the area, and once they show themselves we take them out,” Raiden said.

The group nodded at his response as they all dispersed, and went back to what they were doing. Well almost all of them, the only two still at the table were Riku and Murasakino, they looked at Raiden. “Hey Rai, I know this is kind of awkward to ask but can you show Murasakino around campus? And maybe even spar with her? I wanna see how strong of a fighter she is” said Riku.

“Yeah sure I can,” said Raiden.

“Murasakino, you’ll be going with Raiden he’ll show you a around and even spar with you” said Riku, looking at Murasakino.

Murasakino nodded then turned to Raiden and walked over to him standing behind him. “I will now be following you Raiden,” said Murasakino.

Raiden nodded and started walking with Murasakino following behind him. He showed her around the Campus starting with the room they stepped out of which was the cafeteria. After that he showed her to the dorms, classrooms, library, gym, weightroom, and the arenas. Though that wasn’t all that he showed her he even showed her to some of the cafes, restaurants, and diner’s around the campus as well. Last but not least though he showed her to the Gilded Arena, where the Sports Festival tournament takes place. He then led her back to the smaller Arena’s so that they could Spar like Riku had said they would.

“Raiden, where are we going?” Murasakino asked.

“Back to one of the smaller Arena’s for our sparring Match” Raiden said.

“Oh...I see, will my Master be watching?” Murasakino asked.

“I don’t know Akino,” Raiden said.

The two arrived at the smaller Arena and took their positions standing across from each other as the wind blew leaves. “Give me all you’ve got Akino, no holding back” said Raiden.

Akino gave a nod in response as the timer counted down for the sparring match to begin, and once the buzzer went off the two ran at each other. Raiden jumped into the air and charged a lighting bolt into his hand then sent it at Akino. Akino made a shield of Shadow and blocked the lightning bolt, but the impact was still enough to send her sliding back. The Shield dispersed as Akino caught a punch coming from Raiden that was a few centimeters from her cheek. “You caught that...I’m impressed,” said Raiden.

“The Black Plague asked me to survey you as well Raiden Murasame,” said Akino.

“You used to be part of the Black Plague?” Raiden asked.

Akino gave a simple nod as she pushed Raiden back then put her arm out to freeze him in place, but as she did so Raiden appeared behind her. ‘So it is true he has an unmatched Speed’ Akino thought as she ducked under his attack countering by performing a spinning back fist to his stomach. The hit connected with Raiden’s body causing him to slide back the strike was effective enough to make him knelt while he was down Akino went for an axe kick.

Raiden dodged the incoming axe kick watching it strike the ground. The amount of force that was behind the axe kick was let’s say the surrounding dirt was like after raining and the ground dries. Only the crack in the ground was much bigger than that this caused Raiden to go wide eyed at her strength. If I didn’t dodge that I would’ve had a fractured skull Raiden thought as he coated his hands in lightning. He then went to strike her in the stomach the same way she had struck him; the strike connected thankfully, but Akino used her Shadows to make an armor like layer to take most of the damage. The impact of the strike alone managed to make Akino slide back a few feet, and the two once again stood in front of each other.

Akino’s eyes flickered about and she was coming up with the best possible strategy to secure herself the victory in this fight. Though this would prove difficult as whatever weak point in Raiden’s defense she had was now covered. It’s like he knew she was gonna go for the weak spot again but there was no possible way to tell that. The two stood across from one another trying to out strategize the other. Raiden had the advantage in terms of speed, but Akino could counter that with her shadow magic. In terms of fighting style Akino has the advantage after all she’s been trained in different fighting styles, and within her arsenal there is one that focuses primarily on defense. Though when it comes to strategy they were evenly matched making this harder than the other thought.
