.6.The Arrogance Of Light.

"That is no ordinary weapon, Iku. It is indeed a god killer, and the wielder is none but Ika the terrible, I am sure of it," Esan said.

Oh, my head hurts, my whole body guest. It must have been a god killer, but we saw Ika obliterated at the battle of the soaring souls. Aiye killed him, Imo replied as he struggled to get back on his feet.

The explosion of the house had sent us flying for quite a distance and I only survived it because Esan shielded me somehow.

"Are you good, Abike," he inquired.

"Yes, I am okay," I replied.

He then turned his gaze elsewhere and started increasing in size, and his already tattered suit started to rip into pieces. In a few seconds, he returned to his normal giant size, the size he was when he first saved me. Iku had already moved towards what seemed like a dark most forming, clenching his scythes tightly.

"Stay with Imo, Abike. He's going to protect you with his life if the need be," he announced as he gave Imo a stare and Imo nodded in agreement.

He unsheathed his sword and walked up to Iku. They both stood there staring in the direction of the dark must.

"It was Ika who shot that arrow," Iku murmured as he continued staring in the same direction, maintaining the same posture he was before Esan walked up to him.

"I figured out as much, brother. Surprised that this dark-hearted spawn of Ookun still lives but, none handles the bow of destruction like that. The most is a portal and that means we have a lot of demons to worry about."

"Cut the head of the snake and the body is nothing to worry about, kill Ika and the others will run.

" Shall I rid him of life now, brother? Say the word and it shall be done!"

"Patience, brother. A little bit of patience. He has a good killer weapon, and we know not how strong he is these days, let's have a chat first."

"Well then have your chat, but when it's time I will take that abominations' head from his shoulders," Iku grumbled.

"Well, now you may show yourself, demon. I know it is you. Quit being a coward," Esan spoke at the dark mist.

And from inside the mist, roaring laughter came. Three figures emerged clad in dark attire, they were the same size as the spirits. The one in the middle looked scarred, he was the one laughing.

"The arrogance of light made it think of itself as the fastest in the universe. The same arrogance made light ignore the fact that wherever it goes, darkness is already there waiting.

"You spirits, loyal servants of the gods, always carrying out their hypocritical plans. You judge us for being evil but you are no better. Your arrogance made you ignore how we are one step ahead of you and now you are about to pay for It with your miserable lives," the scared one said, grinning.

"Ika, is that you? Oh, the mess you now have as a face makes it quite hard to recognize you, old adversary. Anyway...what did you mean by being one step ahead of us?" Esan asked, smiling back at him.

"Oh, since you lots are about to be dead, I'll tell you. We knew that traitor Yomi had spies in our ranks, we knew he had contact with the weapon, and when we found out that you had found the weapon we fed Yomi's spies information that would bring you to him. Now we shall kill three birds with one stone, we killed the traitor, we will kill you and take the girl.

"Personally, I would kill the girl too, but my lord wants her alive for a reason."

"Well, that was interesting, but you forgot one thing," Esan said.

"And what might that be?" Ika asked.

"How difficult it is to kill a spirit. We shall give you a good memory jog, now."

Esan's words were a signal to Iku who suddenly threw one of his scythes at Ika with a speed like that of lightning. Ika was caught off guard but one of the other two demons quickly stepped between him and what would have been certain doom. The scythe caught the demon in the chest, sending him flying, and he screamed in pain as he burnt to ashes. Iku stretched his hand and his weapon came flying back to him.

"I forgot how aggressive your attacks are, Iku. I, as a matter of fact, have missed battling an adversary as worthy as you," Ika said.

"If it is entertainment you seek, demon, I will disappoint you, for I plan to take your head as quickly as possible. As much as I enjoy soiling my robes with demon blood, I have my brothers to go save and you're just an obstacle," Iku pointed his weapon in the enemy's direction.

"Oh, poor Lord Iku. You shall fail, just like you have failed at every turn since you got here. The will of the dark god shall be done, your brothers will be sacrificed and there isn't a thing you can do to stop it!"

Esan darted at him with his sword, Idajo at hand. At full speed, Esan's movement could not be seen by my eyes, it seemed like at a time he was somewhere, and just in the blink of an eye, he was in front of Ika. He swung the large blade but once again, the second of the other two demons quickly pushed Ika out of the way, getting shredded into bits in the process.

"Damn you, coward! Are you going to fight or let your minions sacrifice their worthless lives to defend you?" Esan thundered.

Ika raised one of his hands up and brought it down. Roars were heard from inside the dark mist and demons started pouring out in droves.

"Ready your weapons, brother. We are about to be befallen by a lot of enemies, Esan muttered.

"I guess a little bit of entertainment wouldn't hurt, eh? Let's swiftly deal with these insects and get to save our brothers," Iku replied.
