Chapter 2

Aurora watched the shadows move, drifting slowly out of the car when her mother stopped. Looking out, she saw the man standing right beside the car again. He had that same expression that was a cross between resignation and sadness. He stared at her mother for a moment, then turned his gaze to her. His eyes bore into hers. She knew she saw those eyes before! The car started moving again while Aurora was still trying to recall. She noticed then that they went left instead of right.

From then on, Aurora spotted the man everywhere! He was on every corner. If they had driven for a while without one, he would appear in a window or just on the side of the road. Aurora started counting in between the times he would reappear, always with the same look. She realized that it was ten seconds six times. Every minute he would reappear, or that was what her mother told her that time equated to. She noticed that the shadows seemed to be becoming more agitated as well. It felt familiar as well, but she just didn't know where from.

Suddenly, her shadows fled, leaving new shadows to come. She didn't like these ones. They crawled along the buildings, running parallel to the car. Tendrils would snake and whip out of the rest, reaching for them like hooked hands. No, she didn't like these ones at all! Yet, they too felt familiar.

"Oh no!" Kaitlyn groaned when her car suddenly just stopped working. It was like a flip had suddenly switched and it was off! She banged her head on the steering wheel, then turned to her daughter. She gave Aurora her most serious look. "Stay in here and don't move or make a sound, ok sweetheart?" Kaitlyn demanded.

Aurora nodded, though she was scared of the shadows. The man was not around anymore. Aurora held her bunny a little tighter as she looked around. Turning her head, she almost screamed when she saw him right beside her! She stared at him with big eyes, to which he stared back until they heard a BANG! His smile held some reassurance and made her feel slightly better.

"Dammit!" Aurora heard Kaitlyn curse, they both watched as she smacked her hand on the hood of the car. The same hood that she slammed a minute ago..

Kaitlyn was lost on what to do! She figured it was probably a cord from her battery, but then it all seemed fine to her. She wasn't a mechanic though! To make things worse, her cell was dead! They weren't in a very noticeable place, or good one at that either. She jumped, startled by a sudden voice that was rich, dark and kind of sinister. Her 'bad feeling' reached it's peak now. She felt like electricity was coursing through her.

"Hello ma'am. Having a bit of... trouble?" the guy asked her with a malicious smirk. She had walked about thirty feet away from her car trying to get her cell to work before it died. Now, this guy was blocking her path. Slicked back black hair with pale skin and a gaunt appearance, he almost looked like a vampire. Dark green eyes bore into hers.

"Umm... I think I'll be able to handle it so..." She replied as she started back to her car. Of course, she knew that it wouldn't have worked.

An arm snaked around her waist while a hand grasped her neck at the same time, pulling her back flushed against another male. "Tisk, tisk, tisk." the first man said before another literally popped up beside him. This one had deep red hair and dark brown eyes. He too had an evil smirk on his face.

"I think we should have a bit of fun with her!" The third stated as he started rubbing his hands together.

Kaitlyn was going to do all sorts of cursing and kicking when her eyes landed on her daughter. She realized that these men didn't seem to notice her at all... yet. And she planned on keeping it that way! She sent her daughter a stern look, then gulped and looked back at the men before they notice who she was looking at. "Wh-what do you want?" she asked them quietly instead.

The second the strange man showed up, the one in the car with her disappeared. She searched around, but he was really gone! She remembered what her mother had told her, so she tried not to move too much and not to make any noise. When the other man grabbed her mother, causing Aurora's eyes to zero in on his hand on her throat, it caused her brain to fire off. Suddenly, she remembered why so much seemed familiar! It was from a dream. She would often have dreams that seemed like flashes or images in rapid succession that led to an important end. So she knew the end, she knew what was to come now. Those eyes, the shadows, the hands, turning left... the car... it all led to the end!

"Ok! So, what are we doing tonight?" Rankin asked them all at large as soon as Leon, being the last home, opened the door. Leon sighed and shook his head with the rest. Rankin was stubborn, so when he set his mind on something, it was too much trouble trying to change it. Not to mention that the red twins tended to stick together like crazy.

"How about we all unwind at a club? I think we can use a bit of fun..." Carl stated suggestively as he wiggled his brows. The guys just shook their heads again, but decided he was right in the end. Ethan then shooed them all to their rooms, letting them change AFTER he picked out the 'right' or 'presentable' outfit for them. All in all, they were ready within half an hour to leave.

"Ok, so TRY not to spill drinks or do something else embarrassing or disastrous while we're out." Ethan stated off-handedly as he waved his hand back and forth while heading out the door.

"Yes Mom!" Was the reply they all gave him while they rolled their eyes. They were far old enough to not make asses of themselves! Well, as far as they figured. Ethan knew better because men were stupid when drunk. Well, everyone often became so.

They all climbed out of their cars into the crazy, torrential downpour. They had to park a block away from the club to even get spots! Turning to make a dash for said club, Jack froze. Glancing around, he vaguely noticed that the others had as well. They were looking back at him as he raised his head a bit and sniffed, then growled. This made the others sigh.

"Darks are around?" Ian questioned as he too sniffed, though none of them caught much of a whiff of it, they knew that Jack had the best sense of smell.

Jack then looked at them before replying. "Not now, but they were. Seems like they went that way." He motioned down an alley. They all looked torn now.

"Should we go pay them a visit?" Rankin asked while rocking on his feet.

Mike tilted his head before speaking. "Well, it's not like we have a reason to. As long as they don't do anything, we can't really bother them." The rest murmured in agreement, though Ian was still unsure.

"What about this 'bad feeling' of Nic's? I think we should check things out just in case...." They soon became torn once more between going or not.

Nicolas shook his head. "We can go ahead and go to the club, I haven't felt anything for the whole day." He told them, then started to head that way.

No sooner had the words left his mouth and he started to head in the direction did he suddenly spin around, marching into the alley. The rest looked at each other, then took off after him. The grimy place was dark, but no darks were there. Twist and turns at a faster and faster pace, Nic led them through the maze of back alleys. They were now running.

Mike caught up to him with a questioning brow, "Bad feeling?" He asked, getting a short nod in reply before Nic started to move up to their superior speeds. Mike took notice that they were pretty much intersecting the trail of the darks a lot. He was the best tracker, so he could see the signs of those bastards. A quick glance at Jack, who gave him a nod, confirmed that he had noticed it too.

Nicolas was honestly just going to enjoy the night and not worry about anything. Then BAM! He was hit with such urgency to get to where-ever it was that he was going. He was glad that the others didn't bother to ask him a bunch of questions and instead just followed. Honestly, the kind of pull he was under, he didn't think he could answer anyone and would indeed run them over instead!

All he knew was that he HAD to get there. Where-ever there was didn't matter! He knew that wherever he was going to would be dangerous. That same feeling said the same, and damn that urgency! Because of that, his teeth sharpened and the rows were revealed, like a shark's mouth. His hands were turning into claws and he flew, which the others reciprocate. They could easily feel his urgency and apprehension rolling off of him.

When they finally got to the place, they saw some darks holding a shaking woman, obviously against her will as she was near tears. The one that was holding her was licking her neck while the others were making comments as his hand roamed her body with his right staying clutched around her neck. This made Nic growl, being the first to arrive. The others soon following. They all jumped right into the middle of the darks, making them move back a bit and sneer at them. The feeling of dislike was mutual.

Nicolas stared at the dark brown haired dark that was holding her, extending his hand. "Let her go, and we will go easy on you." He told him darkly, his smooth voice ringing throughout the alley.

The dark threw his head back and laughed loudly. "Oh, I don't think so lights. One move and I'll snap this pretty neck of hers." he replied snidely, knowing that they wouldn't move. He ignored their growls at his response.

Kaitlyn felt somewhat relieved when these other guys showed up. But, that was short lived as she noticed that these... darks? Well, a couple of them had moved closer to her car when they appeared. Looking at these... lights.... she could tell that they weren't going to make a move unless she would be unharmed. She didn't care though! Her baby needed saved more than her! She felt her captives' teeth graze her neck, and closed her eyes, knowing what needed to be done. Her eyes became firm, full of resolve as she knew what she had to do. She needed to have the 'good guys' take care of her child!
