Group 5 Introduction

Cally Scotts knew she should be at her post. She knew that security was first, that she couldn't let anything get to the president. She also knew that she needed to get to her children! She brushed her bob cut brown hair back, her green eyes watching the road ahead. The mayhem all around them.

“You need to take a left up ahead.” Ronda commented from beside her. Ronda was holding a map in her shaking dark hands. Her long black hair was pulled back into a bun. They were going after both of their families. They were going to secure them and make sure that they were safe. They had called them before they left, letting them know to pack some essentials and that they were not to open the door for anyone! The two friends then packed into a government issued hummer, with guns and provisions, and headed out.

“OK. Do you think this will be as we figured? What will we do after we get them?” Cally asked.

“Hey, we are taking this a step at a time. First we get our kids, then we figure something out.” Ronda replied while looking up ahead. “Ok, another left here, then we will be on the pass. You remember the way from there?” She asked. The two women became quick friends during training as they both were single moms. Ronda's husband died in duty, Cally's was abusive and she finally left many years before.

“Yeah, I think, if I miss something then tell me, ok?”Cally mumbled as she bit her lower lip. It turned out she did remember. They pulled up in front of Ronda's first. Ronda hopped out while Cal stayed in.

“Kids, I'm here.” Ronda whisper yelled when she entered and closed the door behind her. Her two daughters came up to her, Mara was seven while Daisey was nine. They hugged her and put down their bags of clothes. She told Days to go and put some nonperishable food items in a bag. “Where's Marcus?”

“Mommy, Marcus is in his room. He's sick.” Mara told her. She told her younger daughter to stay with her sister as she hurried to Marcus. She was worried and knew that she wouldn't be able to take him to a hospital. She could hear him coughing from down the hall.

“Marcus, what's wrong?” She asked her twelve year old son as she entered the room. There was blood on the sheets. She knew then what was wrong, and what she would have to do.

“Mom? I don't know what's wrong. Mr. Scrow was walking down the drive, then he just bit me! It hurts mom! It hurts!” Her son sobbed out as tears ran down his face. She kissed his forehead.

“I know baby, but it will be better soon. I promise.” She whispered, then she put him out of his misery.

They joined Cally at the hummer and got in. Cal gave her a look and she shook her head. They drove off to Cally's place next. “Mary! Jonathan! We need to go!” Cally called after she closed the door. Both her kids had been waiting on the couch for her. She looked at her fourteen year old daughter and her eleven year old son. “Have you been attacked by anyone lately?” She asked them, praying that they hadn't.

“No...” was the reply from both. They were scared, but she couldn't help that. Not now at least.

“Ok, weapons and food, water and clothes, get to it!” She ordered them before they all quickly started packing up.

Soon everyone was on their way to somewhere for the night. “Where's Marcus?” Jon asked.

“He was infected. I had to kill him. Kids, if any of us become infected, you must kill them.” Ronda told them, looking them in the eyes till they nodded. They didn't fully understand, but knew it was serious.
