On Diamant's 14th birthday, the strangest thing happened. A witch had almost killed her while warning her to stay away from the past. He turned away, fumbling with the scrolls on the table, twirling the handle of the tea cup on the saucer, resulting into an annoying clicking sound. 


She shook her head, "you might like to take another guess." 


"Guess?" He scoffed. "I didn't find anyone pleasing at the ball except you and I couldn't even have a dance with you because of your parents. Now you want me to take a guesses of my competitors. You are enthralling. Certainly, they shall admire you but then fact that you admire them back..." he paused. "We gone through too much for you to be swayed just by one night, does my heart now mean so little to you?" 


"How dramatic," she rolled her eyes. "I will tell you then." 


He sat down, his lips pressed into a displeased line. 


"The only man of affluence and status in Alusa that my parents hadn't taken it upon themselves to introduce me to. That is the one I found pleasing."
