Chapter 12. The proposal

On Sunday at 6pm I was in front of the Adams family house with Will holding my hand. Although I should have been nervous about meeting his family for the first time, well… I wasn't at all. In fact, I had no feelings, I didn't care if his mother and his brother would like me or not.

The house was far more than just a house. The building in front of us was a huge three-story mansion. The impeccably white facade with large windows took your breath away. Hell, I was more impressed by the building in front of me than the people who lived there.

We entered a huge hallway and then Will led me into a spacious and modern living room but incredibly cold and devoid of personality. The entire interior from the furniture, walls and curtains were white and lifeless. On a sofa with her backs to us were a woman and on a sofa and in a chair facing her was a young man, between them being a coffee table. The man stood cross-legged with a drink in his hand.

I realized pretty quickly that he was Will's older brother, it wasn't hard to guess because the resemblance was striking even though Taylor had sharper features and his blue eyes were incredibly cold.

" Finally! I was starving. ”

He said, putting the glass to the table noisily.

“What a rude bastard.” I thought.

The woman got up from the couch and came towards us.

I was just hoping I wouldn't stare at her because the first thing that came to mind when I saw her face was “Cruella de Vil” followed by “Fuck me.”

"Mom, this is Samantha. Sam, she's my mother Elaine and he's my older brother Ty. "

"Pleased to meet you."

I said, smiling and waving politely.

“Cruella”, sorry Elaine, shook my hand after practically scanning me from head to toe.

"So do I, dear."

She replied with a grimace that tried to be a smile.

I was not intimidated and after Elaine released my hand I repeated the gesture to Ty who was now in front of me. He took my hand and looked me straight in the eye. His icy blue eyes made me shiver down my spine and because he had held my hand in his hand longer than necessary I slowly withdrew it from his surprisingly hot hand.

"Congratulations my younger brother, this time you chose a better piece."

He said with a Machiavellian grin.

I looked at him and raised an eyebrow in question, turning my foresight to Will.

"Don't be an ass Ty!"

Elaine said with no expression on her face.

"It's not nice to make our guest feel uncomfortable."

She continued, not convincingly enough.

The fact that I was not rich did not mean that I was inferior and I was not going to lower my head in front of anyone no matter how much money would they have ,money and wealth never impressed me. Wealth did not make you a better or worse person, so I do not judge Will either for the family's wealth or for the defiant attitude of his mother and brother.

Will was different and the man holding his hand in the middle of my back was the only man I was interested in right now.

Dinner was pretty weird, I felt more like an interview for a job than a dinner with my boyfriend's family. The whole discussion was more of an interrogation about me and my family, the investigator being Elaine.

Ty was silent until he threw out a question, looking at me like a prey.

"Have you already fucked my brother?"

I froze and the forced smile until then disappeared instantly and I felt my jaw clench.

"Son of a bitch." I thought.

"What the hell Ty?"

Will said angrily and then turned to me.

"Sorry Sam, it looks like my brother drank more than he should."

I put my hand over his hand and said very calmly. Not willing a fight or family drama in my behalf.

"In this case it would be better to retire by closing the evening here."

I got up slowly from the table and with a polite smile I addressed the host.

"Thanks for the delicious dinner Elaine, it was a pleasure to meet you."

She also stood up.

"The pleasure was my ,dear, I hope to see you again."

Will got up too and took my hand, pulling me slightly to the exit.

He was obviously upset. We left without saying goodbye.

All the way to my apartment Will drove the car without saying a word and only when I got to the parking lot of the building where I lived, after he stopped the car engine Will looked into my eyes. His eyes were full of regret.

"I'm really sorry Sam, my brother usually is not so rude. I don't know what the hell happened to him tonight. "

I smiled at him, cupping his cheek in my palm.

"Will! It's not your fault. I'm not going to judge you for your family when my family is far from perfect. The only one I care about is you. ”

He smiled at me and kissed me on the lips.

"Can I stay with you overnight?"

He asked me.

"You can stay overnight, during the day, whenever and how much you want."

"Anyway, I've been more at your place lately than at home."

He said laughing.

"Actually, that's the real reason my mom wanted to meet you."

I smiled at him and opened the car door.

"Then let's go home."

I told him getting out of the car.

A week later, Will came home with a huge bouquet of red roses.

I was not in love with him but his romantic gestures always warmed my heart.

"Wow ! Will what is the occasion? ”

I greeted him with a smile.

To my surprise, Will dropped on one knee giving me the bouquet.

“Sam! I love you like I've never loved anyone before. You make me a better man and I want to share my life with you. Will you marry me? ”

I could feel my heart beating fast. Although our relationship was going well, I didn't expect to be asked, at least not so fast, but I was excited.

"Yes! "

I answered without thinking too much, taking the beautiful bouquet from his hands.

Will took out of his jacket pocket the famous jewelry box in which there is always a ring. He opened the box and as I expected he took out a beautiful classic gold ring with diamond. He took my hand and put the ring on my finger.

I was happy. My life seemed to become a perfect one with the perfect man by my side and a forever promise.
