Alistair fumbled to get his keys out of his pocket and also catch up to the woman running for the diner door. She unlocked it and flung it open, not caring to lock it behind them. Alistair quickly unlocked the car and got inside, as Rosalinda was already seated in the passenger's seat.

"Drive! Please! Fast!" She yelled loudly, as Alistair didn't hesitate to accelerate the car out of the parking spot and down the street.

Rosalinda was screaming in her native tongue and pulling her hair, as sobs left her lips. Alistair tried to make a reach for her hand, but she jerked away and yelled something at him in Maltese that he didn't understand, but he knew she meant for him to keep his eyes on the road.

Once they pulled up to the hospital, Rosalinda didn't give him a chance to stop the car fully and jumped out of the car. She ran so quickly inside the hospital, skipping past the woman that yelled for her to come back and get her visitor's pass.

She ignored everyone around her and ran up the staircase and to the floor her mother was on, dodging more people and barged into her mother's room.

She watched doctors and nurses crowd around the pale and yellow-looking woman, as she gave her daughter a weak smile.

"Oh god! Mama! Please! Please stay right here! If you leave me, I'll fucking die without you!" Her daughter yelled a bit, hiccuping and began to sob, as her mother held her cheeks and caressed it with both hands.

"Oh, my sweet rose. You won't die without me. I'm always here, and you know it. Always the drama with you." Luċija chuckled quietly, as Rosalinda let out another sob. Alistair than raced into the room, as doctors and nurses moved around him to leave the room. He looked at the two confusingly.

"No! No! Mama, inti ma tistax tħallik! Int l-unika persuna li fadal! Għandi bżonnok (Mama, you can't leave me! You're the only person I have left! I need you!)!" The young girl sobbed, as she leaned against her mother's chest, as Luċija's slim fingers ran through Rosalinda's hair.

"I should've came more often! I should've made sure you were okay! Prayed more!" Rosalinda sobbed, as Luċija sighed and leaned back more into her pillow.

"But, you're not alone! See! He stands right there behind you!" Her mother laughed softly and picked Rosalinda's face up gently, her hands shaking a bit.

"Oh, it-tifla għeżież tiegħi Int trid tagħraf l-imħabba ta 'madwarek. Taf li dejjem ser ikollok post f'qalbek u x'aktarx ser inbajduk għal dejjem u tgħajjat fil-muta mutu li tagħmel. Inti lanqas biss tkun kapaċi tisma 'nofs il-ħin (my dear daughter. You need to recognize the love around you. You know I'll always have a place in your heart and will probably haunt you forever and yell at the dumb shit you do. You won't even be able to hear me half the time.)." The two laughed, as Alistair finally realized what was going on.

Luċija was dying and only had moments left for all they knew. He slowly walked over and moved Rosalinda into a seat and than grabbed another to sit beside her.

Luċija smiled widely when Alistair sat down and grabbed his hand.

"Ah! My dear boy! I need to speak to you! So, Rosalinda, I need you to leave the room." The dying woman smiled and Rosalinda shook her head, about to protest, until her ear was grabbed and pulled close to her mother's lips.

"Now. I need you to leave, my love." She whispered, as Rosalinda chocked back a sob, and kissed her mother's cheek.

"I love you," Rosalinda sobbed out, as Luċija smiled.

"Inħobbok iktar milli tirrealizza, il-warda tiegħi (I'll love you more than you realize, my rose.)." She hummed and shooed her away. Rosalinda gave a sobbed laugh at the hand waving her away, Rosalinda kissing the top of her hand one last time, before she left the room.

The older woman looked over at Alistair once she left the room, she squeezed his hand, which she was still holding.

"Please, protect my baby. She's going to be so broken for a while, and she needs someone close by her." Luċija said softly, as Alistair nodded and chuckled softly.

"I actually bought her an apartment closer to my house, so she can be closer to me." He said sheepishly, as Luċija smiled widely and kissed the back of Alistair's hand.

"God bless you for coming into her life. She needs a man like you. You remind me so much of my husband. So much love and care." She hummed and looked up at the ceiling. She looked over at Alistair and gave him a weak smile.

"Now, go to her. Hold her tightly." Luċija said, as Alistair nodded and got up.

"Thank you for welcoming me with open arms, Luċija." Alistair smiled as the woman teared up and smiled widely.

"Thank you for caring so deeply for my daughter." The older Maltese smiled, as Alistair left the room.

Rosalinda ran up to Alistair, about to ask what she said, but he pulled her into a tight hold, and held her head to his chest.

After a few moments a long beep sound came from the room. Doctors and nurses began to rush in. Rosalinda began to sob loudly, and try to get out of his hold, but he only tightened it, understanding both meanings Luċija had about holding her tightly.

Rosalinda hit him and sobbed loudly against his chest, as the commotion died down a few minutes later.

Rosalinda continued to sob into Alistair's arms, as doctors and nurses gave their condolences to the last living Scott. Alistair continued to rub her back and looked up at the bright florescent lights.

"Rest beautifully, Luċija Scott."

I actually began to cry while writing his chapter! Luċija is one of my all time favorite characters that I have ever written, and it saddens me so deeply to see her go, but Alistair and Rosalinda's relationships will hopefully flourish more from this heart breaking moment. Thank you again for reading!
