Chapter 3: Memory

The two were stuck staring at each other, stuck on each other's eyes as Louise slowly but steadily put on her bandana. Soon enough, they'd be interrupted by a sudden scream from the upper floors, along with gunshots. Louise immediately made her move, going right back to that spiral staircase, she was immediately followed by the man in front of her, but she couldn't waste time! She had then blast jumped out of there, launching herself through that spiral staircase and with just enough thrust to land her onto the first floor.

Louise slowly opened the door, the sounds of police were right behind the door, looking through the windows, it seemed that they were still holding down a siege. However, there wasn't any terrorists in the area. . .

They were mostly in the very front. . . I gotta be careful with this.

So she stuck to the closest wall and walked forward, trying to listen for footsteps over the sound of her own heart's drum beating louder and faster. Soon enough she'd peek around a corner, upon peeking. . . it seemed that she hit the jackpot; multiple terrorists facing the door and keeping an eye on the hostages.

Great, how do I get through this. . .?

She tried thinking of a plan, but man was she bad at a methodical approach. She couldn't think of the future consequences for every single outcome, all she knew was that a mistake meant dead people, and it'd be her fault.

She looked around, and there seemed to be a few shattered windows, giving a smirk she wanted to test something out. She wanted to see. . . how precise and accurate her ability really was. Because it's easy to control with a close proximity but getting farther away was a lot more difficult, she needed to think about a lot more factors and variables when it came to long distance usage of her ability.

Just. . . aim like this. . . aaaand. . .

An explosion was made, directly on a tree branch. Upon hearing this sound, two of the terrorists had turned around and eventually going past the corner. Of course, seeing her. . . they immediately pointed their weapons. The two made gestures at each other, a sadistic grin on both of their faces could be seen despite masks covering their mouths. They were ready to wait.

Soon enough Louise would turn around and was absolutely frozen after seeing the other end of the barrel.

Shit. What do I do now. . .?

" Put your hands up! And join the hostages over there, or else we'll fill you with holes, damn bitch! "

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. This wasn't good, in fact, it was terrible. Louise could feel her legs shaking, she could feel herself almost lose control, almost ready to blow the entire place up. Her finger twitched and the two terrorists got even closer to their triggers.

She twitched even more, ready to extend her arm for a punch. The first shot had been sound as she tried throwing it, missing her barely and leaving a cut on her clothes. During these few seconds of time passing. For Louise this felt like the sands of time came to a halt. Not only that, but she knew that using those troublesome abilities of hers would mean the death of not only these terrorists but the death of innocent people with the collapse of the building.

Why won't my arm move? I feel like I'm stuck in concrete. . . someone. . . please help! My leg is also stuck! Please! Someone. . . help me!

Upon all these negative thoughts she couldn't control her own thoughts, her brain was scattered, thoughts jumping around like unruly gas molecules. As those brain cells had gone into panic, a single image flew through her mind, more visible than any other.

It was that man who called her name earlier. . . The voice echoed through her head.

Louise?

Her eyes opened up and she had seen someone in front of her, someone holding the barrels of the weapons which were pointed at her.

" Take her to the hostages already, stop fooling around. We have the police under our grasp. Make them accept our offers and we can finally leave. . . you can do whatever you want to the hostages after. "

Louise's eyes had widened, and her scattered brain left her in a daze, meaning that the terrorists could take her without struggle. Before she knew it, she was already sitting near the hostages.

Did… Did he save me?

She couldn't get it out of her mind. Those men were ready to kill her, and they already fired a shot from those suppressed weapons of theirs…

Great… what should I do, huh? I'm stuck here.

Could she really not do anything? This was horrible. All she could was wait things out and as she waited it out… she heard something.

" Like we said! We need 100 ATS, 5000 Quinquenium Shields along with 2000 SIR suits, along with 2 helicopters! "

They're making requests… Those aren't easy ones either. Armored Suits, Shields and helicopters? What type of people are these…

She looked around at the hostages, all filled with frightened eyes. Actually… except for a few. There were others with stern eyes, one looking angry and filled with hate… not only that but there are even a few that had a different breed of eyes, a look of bloodthirst…

There are decoys here, aren't there… If any of these people make a move, these decoys might kill them behind their backs. Not only that, but they're all in the corners. The decoys could kill them all with a few shots. I need a distraction, I need someone to help me too… Come on, if only the fire on the floors above this one could come sooner! It would force them out…

Cink. Crack. SHATTER, SMASH!

The terrorists soon turn their heads to the left hallway. It seemed that a breach had started, but rather than checking like they did with her, another terrorist had grabbed a hostage, and pointed the gun at her head. As the hostage had cried out, begging not to be shot.

"LISTEN! IF YOU MAKE ANOTHER MOVE WE'LL SHOOT EVERY SINGLE HOSTAGE IN THE HEAD UNTIL WE GET WHAT WE WANT."

It seemed that within the break in had halted, there wasn't a single footstep that had come towards the terrorists. However, there was a sudden break in the silence. A sudden sharp movement in the wind and the man holding the gun to the hostage's head fell, and soon after… more of the scary men had fallen.

" What the…? FIRE-"

The man had been cut off, by one of his own. The same man from before, taking him out immediately. As for the hostages… those with their own tenacity tried to attack the decoys, but this time, Louise had taken care of them kicking one of the decoys in the corner, sending him flying outside of the building, the man who betrayed his men had also taken care of the two in the back, only leaving one who had taken out a machine gun, and immediately tried to fire his weapon.

"DIE!"

…Click, click.

His gun had a stoppage, the decoy had remembered something. He remembered that the traitor…had been snooping around before the mission started.

Was he breaking our guns…? No way, he was a member of the police force wasn't he!? Did they predict this attack weeks…no months before it happened!?

His life had flashed before his eyes as he saw a flying kick that came and broke his gun with a punch that came towards his face, slamming him onto the wall, enough to make a crack.

With that... It was over.

The traitor had taken off the helmet that the terrorists were wearing, and revealed his black hair and blue eyes, facing away from Louise as he walked outside and gave a thumbs up.

"Wait!"

Louise had yelled out, and tried to follow him. The man had turned around and saw her face to face, as her bandana fell off while she ran, her hood almost fell back as well… but she kept it on, holding onto the hood.

" Louise…? "

" Dante…? "

The two's moment had been interrupted as the firemen had immediately come into play, trying to put out the second story fire, with more police coming in to try and help the hostages came out, and eventually… with all the people around them doing their job, the two had been separated, and Louise ended up with the reporters…

" We caught everything you have done in camera, what's your name miss? You helped the police out just as much as their undercover officer! "

" Um…Lo- "

She cut herself off. She couldn't just say her name… and it seemed that her alter ego was going to be used again, but that might mean the scientists and her father would figure out what happened…

" Just call me… "

She couldnt think of a name.

Wait, this was the exact situation I was thinking about earlier!

She thought about it more… and decided upon a name, the only reason why she thought of the name was because of a video she watched before…

" Just call me Azide! You know, like the chemical?"
