A new Beginning

"Well well what do we have here" a voice came from behind at this moment. Lifting his head kai looked back to see a massive group but his eyes were too blurry to be able to see who it was. He, however, could discern who was the owner of the voice as he had many interactions with this person before.

Wiping his eyes he looked to see a man who looked in his 30s with brown hair and brown eyes. A moustache that connected to his sideburns. This was John the mayor of the town.

Kai despised him with all his soul. This man would always curse him and call him a bastard. Even talk about how he was a member of the dark races. He didn't even send any help this time. If he did perhaps his dad would still be alive. However, he blamed himself way more than John for his dad's death. If only he was strong enough.

What caught Kai's eyes were Johns guards specifically the person they were holding. "Mom" he called out.

Mary who had just seen her son saw her husband in his arms and knew what went down. It seemed that man had left her and the child behind. She felt immense sadness inside her but held it back for Kai's sake.

"Why are you holding my mom? Leave her right now!" He spoke with anger and killing intent as he stared at John who simply ignored him and looked back at the crowd.

"My townspeople for 15 years we have not had any of the dark forces attack us but today we get attacked by vampires of such high level. For the last 10 years, I have been telling you that this child is a member of dark forces. Today it was proven as you have seen it. They both have the same eyes and even the same hair colour."

"This child is nothing but a devils child. He brought down destruction to her home and got your loved ones killed. I think I speak for all ourselves when I say it's time to get rid of evil" John started giving out his massive speech.

Kai and Mary who heard this we're horrified. What was this mans intention? Ever since mary announced that Kai was her child this man John did his best to attack her child. Every step of the way be would spread rumours and if not for Sam and Kall he would've probably killed Kai.

"My fellow people this child was the result of this couple's constant praying towards the devil to produce him. This evil couple is as much to be blamed for this atrocity as that kid. Now one of them is dead in the child's arm as retribution while the other is here with me. Tell me, my good people, what shall be done with her?" He screamed his lungs out

"Kill her," someone said followed by others saying the same thing. Soon the whole crowd was screaming for her to be killed.

Seeing this John smirked 'What idiots these are. Give them bait and they swallow it. Fools don't even try to think if I could be wrong but I am the mayor after all even if they think I'm wrong they will agree with me now that Sam and Kall are gone'

"Hahaha good the crowd has spoken. Kill her" he ordered his guard who was holding her. Mary seemed to go have sensed this coming for her so she remained unfazed instead she looked at her son and smiled.

"Kai you know I'm so proud of you. You are the best thing to happen to me. I still remember the day I picked you like it was yesterday. Your beautiful eyes looked at me so purely. I could see love in them" Mary said as tears came out of her eyes.

Kai realising what was happening quickly stood up and rushed towards his mother with all his might however 5 guards appeared at his sides and held him down.

All of them were level 6 and the kai could fight off one or two at the same time. These six seemed to have good foundations and Kai himself was weak form using up a lot of his energy.

They slammed his little body on the ground making a small crater. He tried his best to struggle but it was for nought. All he could do was look at his mother with wet eyes.

"I'm so proud of you little one. You never gave us trouble and you were always such a bright child. I never thought I would get to be a mother but you made it possible. My sweet child doesn't cry. We did nothing wrong.

If I was given the chance to be your mother again I would do it in a heartbeat. Thank you for being my child, Kai. Thank you for making me a mother. I love you!" She screamed out those last words with a smile as a sword pierced her heart and killed her.

"Mother!!!!!" Kai couldn't take it. This was too much for him. He had just lost his father and he was supposed to take care of his mother yet she was killed by humans. So cruel, they were so cruel. Tears still came out of his eyes but his eyes were suddenly filled with emptiness.

"Take this bastard to the town square and we shall burn him at the stake" John ordered his men while the crowd cheered. Kai didn't even resist as they picked him up and moved towards the town square. His eyes remained closed and he remained expressionless.

Tying him up they lifted the stake and got the fire ready. John stood at the front with his guards holding a fire stick while the rest of the crowd surrounded the area. All shouting words such as "Die you devil".

John finally stepped up and set fire to the wood surrounding the stake and smiled. " Finally" he muttered

The reason why John wanted Kai dead was actually that 15 years ago after the first vampire attack he had met with a diviner who was crossing by and the man predicted that he would die in the hands of a child with red eyes and brown skin.

John who lived 5 years in agony not knowing who this kid would be finally got to see him when Mary and Sam announced they had a child. Seeing him he finally came to believe what the diviner had said was true. From then on he tried his best to get Kai killed but his father was strong and that garrison leader was also protecting him.

In his desperation and bidding time, he got the news of vampires operating near the town and hence made a deal with them to kill a certain child. However who would've thought they would simply ignore this and just hunt for what they liked.

Nevertheless, everything went great as Sam got himself killed saving this child and he got rid of that witch of a woman as well. He was feeling extremely happy inside.

As the fire raged on and slowly crept towards Kai who still had his eyes closed and his head down slowly opened his eyes and looked up.

He gazed at John first with lifeless eyes and a stoic expression. No one knew what he was thinking. Then his gaze moved to the guards and after the crowd who was cheering for him to die.

"Look at them being so ungrateful. You saved their lives in the town hall yet look at them being so happy for your death. They even caused your mothers death." A very demonic voice that seemed to belong to a woman spoke from inside Kai.

This was the same voice that would tell him to kill whenever he was fighting. It was back and much stronger and frankly this time Kai didn't give a shit what this voice did to him.

"Do you want to end up like this? Weak and pathetic? You couldn't even save your parents and they died for nothing. Look at this pathetic bunch of insects. Don't you want to kill them? I can help you child let me through. I can take care of it all while you sleep." Her voice became soothing and soft.

For the first time, kai felt genuine emotions from this voice. It felt like it really cared about him. Perhaps he thought, perhaps I can leave it all to her.

All of a sudden the child who was hanging on the stake began to laugh. "Hahahahahahah, I hate you all. No hate is a very weak term. I despise you all so much. I saved you yet you killed my mother. I hate you all and especially you bastard. I want to drink your blood hahaha" it was as if he had turned into a madman.

"Ramblings of a mad man" John shouted out seeing the crowd visibly shaken but was cut short as he saw the fire that was meant to burn the child simply stop at his feet. His eyes became consumed in fear as to what happened next.

The child's body slowly became covered with dark marks running from the left side of his forehead down to his neck and the left side of his chest and arm. His sclera which was pure white turned completely black. A massive horn spurted out from the left side of his forehead pointing straight. "Hahaha, you're all going to die"

This voice, however, wasn't that of a child's but rather a demonic voice that sent chills down every single person standing there. The sky had turned completely black at this moment. "Since you made this child suffer so much I shall take your damned life as compensation."

"Darkness" the demonic voice uttered and soon the whole ground was covered black. Seeing this scene the people were horrified and started to run away as everything went to chaos. There was no escaping unfortunately as the darkness soon rose and enshrouded the whole town in a pitch dark dome.

If there was a passer-by outside all they would hear we're screams and a demonic laugh at this point. Soon the voices settled and with a loud *Boom* the darkness broke down like glass.

What was left in place was a massive crater and in the middle of it sat a child with his head down with lifeless eyes. The whole town had vanished. Nothing was remaining here.

It was as if a town didn't even exist in this place. Only a child remained here there with tattered clothes. There was no movement from him.

Soon a figure approached the child. However, Kai did not lookup, it was not until the figure was right upon him that he looked up. A tall man about 6'6 stood there looking down on him. The man wore a black kimono and a white haori over it and carried a sheathed sword around his waist. He had long black hair in a ponytail and had slate grey eyes. He also wore a white scarf.

"Kid where are your parents?" The man asked in a warm voice to which the child simply replied "Dead"

However, there was no change in the man's expression as he stared at the boy. The man slowly extended his hand towards the kid. "Do you want to get stronger, child? I can see so much hatred and darkness in you. I'm sure your parents would have wanted you to live a happy life"

Kai who stared at his hand then back at this man "Why not just let me die here? I'm no one to you. All humans are evil so how can I trust you"

The man smiled at this "The world isn't inherently evil nor is it good. It is your actions that decide the course. In this life, you'll meet all sorts of people and only your actions will decide what the world will be shaped like. Why don't you survive and look for the answer you deeply desire yourself?

For some reason, Kai felt the warmth from him. Just like his father and the voice inside him, this man was someone he unconsciously felt close to. It was also true that he wanted to live. This was what his father had asked from him as well. He extended his hand to grab the bigger man's hand.

"What's your name, child?" The bigger man asked with a smile to which he replied "Kai"

"Well, Kai, I'm called Kain and from now on I'll be your master"

It was this day the two fateful souls met.
