Unexpected Guests

"Let me through!" a thunderous voice sounds from behind the jumble of guards. I watch through a little hole in the blanket as all the guards kneel.

"YES, YOUR MAJESTY!" They all shout at once,

Your majesty? That's the King? Oh no. Now I'm really in trouble. Why is the king here though? I look towards Luke, but he looks just as surprised as I am. We watch as a big burly man who has a regal air about him, walks in.

"Father…" Luke says.

Father?! Luke's father is the King? So, I've been running around the city with a prince?! No wonder people were chasing us!

"You have disappointed me son." The King barks,

"Forgive me, father." Luke says while kneeling

"I heard you were running around the city with a suspicious girl who wears a cloak. She must be near by because your holding that cloak in your hands. Tell me where this girl is?" Demands the King,

"…"

"So, you're not going to tell me? Guards! Where is the girl?" The King shouts in a deafening voice,

"There were no reports of her leaving the room, so we concluded that she is still in this room your majesty." Replied one of the guards,

"Well... there's not much room to hide, so she must be in that bed." Says the King,

All the guards look towards the bed.

"Well!? What are you waiting for?! Get her!" The King shouts, and all the guards come rushing toward the bed. Luke stands.

"No! No… Just leave her out of this. It's my fault she's even here." Luke pleads.

All the guards stop and look at the King who is furious. The King pushes Luke out of the way and rips the covers off of me revealing my peculiar white hair, yellow eyes and almost translucent pale skin. With a look of disgust, he grabs my arm and throws me on the floor.

"You see this! You've brought a witch to the castle!" The King yells,

Then everyone, even Luke, steps back with terrified expressions on their faces. All I could do was sit there and stare back at them with just as much fear on my own face. A sharp pain shoots through my ankle, and the wounds on my back flare. I wince at the pain. My sudden movement startles the guards into pointing their swords at me. To my surprise, Luke steps in front of me.

"She's not a witch. If she were, I would have noticed by now." Luke pleads,

I manage to get to my feet.

"I-I'm not a witch! I swear" I manage to stutter through my fear. Not very convincing but at least I said something.

My body won't stop shaking, and my back is throbbing with pain. I look at the king who seems to be contemplating his son's words.

"Take her to the dungeons." The King commands.

I would run away but guards are blocking the exit. The only other way I could get out is… I lunge for the only window and hit it as hard as I can. The glass shatters, and sprays throughout the room. I try to climb out cutting my hands on the broken glass.

"Emily! Look out!" Luke yells,

A guard grabs me by my ankle, and I writhe with pain as I fall back inside. I hit the ground so hard I'm dizzy. When I try to get up, I fall back down. My head throbs as everything gets blurry and darkness swallows my sight.
