The Helmet Of Jin

      "Did you keep this here?"

Ja Lia stood at the front of the door. Before him was a helmet. He knew that helmet. He had borne it before. Twas the helmet of Jin.

The only question he could think of was what he had shot at the lady who was indoor and walking towards to open it.

She opened the door and looked at him.

    "What?"

She said confusedly looking at his confused face. She traced his face to where he was looking at. The helmet.

   "I should be asking you."

She said. Ja looked at her for awhile then looked at the helmet again.

He didn't know what to think.

"If I knew where it's from, would I had asked you?"

He shot at her. He had just gone to the market square to see if he could buy a Cuneiform or some writing material made from Papyrus. He wanted to write a letter and send it through the King of Havila who would be paying a visit to several other kingdoms.

The King would dispose of the letter to each of the Kings who would of course figure out if Ja Lia's brothers were in any of their villagers.

In the letter, he would tell his brother about his arrival into Havilah and other things happening.

He dumped the thought sharing his gaze between the helmet at the lady.

"Kick it away then if you don't need it. You don't know about it, I don't know about it. Probably some guy came around and dropped it here. Maybe some guy who used to live here before the Duke gave us the permit."

She kept reeling. But he wasn't with her. He was far away into the stretch of thoughts.

He never thought that he would see the helmet of Jin ever again. He thought he had lost it to the sea. Of course he had. When the boat splitted and he drowned, he lost it.

But there was the helmet again at his doorstep. He was wearied. He knew something odd was happening. Something seemed to cooking on a low key.

A part of him told him that twas sent by Poseidon. Another said to him that the helmet was washed ashore and then someone brought it to his doorstep.

The second thought seemed lame and twould be suicidal to bank on such. He'd rather be without thoughts than esteem that.

    "What do you say?"

He heard her say. He snapped back to reality. He had forgotten that she was there.

     "No."

He said, looking hastily around as though he was some thief. He technically was.

    "No what?"

    She shot at him.

    "We'll keep it".

He stuttered. He didn't want to risk having anyone know that the helmet was there. Everyone would kill for it.

She didn't seem to approve of what he had said. She didn't leave him hanging.

"You should make a decision at once. At a point you're scared, at another you want it in. You look as confused as the helmet."

She was leaning on one of the door posts. He looked sternly at her then looked away. His eyes fixed on the helmet. The inscription on it still very much alive.

"I freaked out seeing it here. But now we can't possibly throw it away or something. Whatever or whoever brought it here surely had a reason for that. What if that would bring wealth or protection or something. Something good for you and the baby."

He reeled. He had no idea from where the words came, he only knew that he let them roll.

The part of the baby seemed to crush her. She bent down immediately and lifted the helmet up.

   "No no you don't--"

Ja Lia rushed to help and most importantly make her put it down but she already was hugging it to her belly.

Ja Lia's jaw dropped. At first he didn't want her to touch it let alone lift. He was already on thinking of  who was going to put it in. He was scared to death that the helmet was there for mission and he wouldn't touch it.  But there she did.

Another thing was the weight of the helmet. It looked like a normal helmet but was made from tons of steels and iron.

Even when he bore to the sea the previous time, he had had his heart in his mouth. Put shortly, twasnt something he never expected a lady to had lifted.

The lady had been acting strangely since the last time Lailah brought her back. She began to talk too much and act wierd.

He didn't want to read odd meanings to it but he couldn't help it anymore. He thought her actions had been inspired by the fact that she was pregnant but no more.

He needed no soothsayer to tell him that something was amiss. But would he kick her out? How long would he keep running away from everything.

   "Careful."

  He corrected his objection.

He helped her into the sitting room and watched her put the helmet down. He tried as much as possible not to touch it.

She sat on the first chair and he sat on the opposite one. The helmet was between them.

Ja was feeling jumpy. Twas a recent feeling. He couldn't really owe it to anything precisely.

"There was a tale about a helmet when I was growing with my father."

He started. He couldn't bear hiding anything from her. He didn't know why he felt that helpless. Probably because of the baby.

"The Helmet of Jin. Jin was a great warrior would fought a god and conquered him. He fought the god over love for a lady who the god loved. The defeated God gave Jin the helmet as a seal of peace between himself and Jin. But there was a time the helmet was missing from the sacred hole Jin kept it. We had no idea why twas stolen. But during the days of its missing, all the regions around that settlement were in a great chaos. But one day, twas returned by a mad man. Twas later made known that the mad man was sane before he stole it."

Ja Lia stopped talking. He didn't know how to link it up to what was wielding in the depth of his consciousness.

    "Did you steal this?"

She looked sternly at him. He was shocked. How'd she get the logic.

He hesitated, but shook his head in attestation,

"And this is the Helmet of Jin?"

She asked again, raising her eyebrows. He shook his head again.

He was going to speak again when a great wind hit the house and began to set the house in what was close to ruins.

At once, the helmet was nowhere to be found.

The lady panicked, putting her hands to her stomach as though she was covering the baby's eyes.

    "Where'd it go."

Vulcan asked amidst the ruins. And immediately, the Helmet appeared again.

The lady jumped over the helmet and ran over to Ja Lia.

She flung herself into his arms. Ja swallowed a lump of dread. He wished he could fling himself into someone's arms.
