That's alot of damage

I heard the door opening and saw the heroes known as Homer and Bolt come in with Kirby. At first they seemed fine but Kirby and Bolt looked extremely worried and Homer was limping.

After they finally asked my name, I mean jeez, they had me following them around for an entire day and hadn't asked my name, Bolt and Kirby started stripping Homer.

At first I was embarrassed until I saw the shape Homer was in.

He was bruised and battered, even having a stab wound, but the worst thing was his right arm.

It was like something had been eating it both inside and out. I will spare you the details but I nearly fainted after seeing it and I had been in a cave of dead bodies for some time, even seen them get mutilated, so you can understand that it was extremely gross.

"What the hell happened?" It just came out after seeing his arm.

Homer looked at me with reassuring eyes. "I'll be fine, they're just fleshwounds, I've healed a guy who was near dead."

With that, black symbols started appearing around him, when they had finished creating a complicated pattern it seemed to suck in light and then his body started healing, even the mutilated arm.

The symbols slowly started disappearing and with them the healing stopped. Everything had been perfectly healed, everything except for his arm, it looked better, but it was weird, his vein glowed with a faint golden color and seemed to be ... I can't really explain it.

There was this weird hunger that his arm radiated, like all it wanted was to consume. Little did I know that I would have a lot more to worry about then just a weird looking arm.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

"Athena, what's wrong with my arm?" After healing myself and lying down on a bed I looked at it. There was void energy inside and it wanted to consume.

Athena looked at me and said: "You have perfect void affinity. Your body integrated the residual void energy into the place where the most of the energy passed through."

I looked at her weirdly. "What do you mean, perfect void affinity? I thought it just destroyed everything in its path, I was even ready to lose my arm."

She seemed like she was frustrated. "It's pretty obvious what it is you know. STOP ASKING STUPID QUESTIONS!"

She startled me. "Why are you yelling?"

"You know, it's all a little too perfect. How you were the only relative left in your family meaning that I would be desperate to bond with you, how you are the perfect person for the pen, even understanding how it works beyond even me, who it was made for. How the first person we fought was one of the people responsible for killing your family, and now the void affinity!"

She looked at me. "That's kinda sus bro, not gonna lie."

"What, so you think I'm part of some big plan to use you?" I was genuinely hurt by that thought.

"No, I think that someone wanted us to bond, and I think it was the Dollmaker."

Gears were turning in my head. "Explain."

"Think about it, his dolls can't disobey him and won't stop until their purpose is fulfilled, they are near indestructible and you expect me to believe they thought they had killed you. I'm not buying it."

It did make sense but one question remained. "Why though?"

Athena was just as stumped as me on that part. "How should I know? I just think it doesn't make sense that these things all happened without someone pulling the strings behind the scenes."

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. "Hey you, who are you talking to you dumbass."

"Hey, I am not a dumbass, Bolt. And I'm talking to myself."

"You're really weird, you know that." I could hear that she was enjoying insulting me.

"That just hurts my feelings."

"I don't really care, anyways what I came here to tell you is that we have to debrief at HQ in 2 days, tomorrow we're expected to look at the damage we or those dolls caused."

"Ok." What, hey, don't look at me like that, what do you expect me to say.

The next day

Turns out the puppets didn't do that much, they had been like zombies, just walking around, only attacking people if they were in sight.

They didn't destroy any property. I had done that. The battle had taken place on a square and I had destroyed that square by releasing unrefined void energy.

The entire floor was gone, consumed by the void, the buildings had been damaged. In all her wisdom Nora could only say one thing. "That's alot of damage."
