Basket of bread

That night little Megan couldn't sleep as she was excited for tomorrow. She thought about those blue eyes over and over again, as if she's slowly drowning in them.

'Pretty brother is coming tomorrow for Meg's bread, so let's sleep and make bread tomorrow' little Meg thought, then she drifted into sleep.

The sun rose early in the morning as little Megan was woken up by her brother. This was their routine, their mama and papa wake up earlier than the siblings to get the shop ready for the day.

Little Megan got ready as she did her hair into low pig-tails and wore a white dress. She went down as per usual and took her apron from the kitchen closet.

"Looks like my baby girl woke up huh" said papa Vinnesia as he put a tray of dough into the oven.

"Good morning papa" said Megan as she sat on her stool. She took a fresh baked bread from the basket in front of her and took a bite. As she ate, Megan watched her mama cleaning up the store where the customers would sit at. The bakery started out as a small shop, but then the family expanded the shop as they receive many more customers. It wasn't anything lavish and extravagant, but it was clean and sparkly enough to stand out as a middle class bakery.

Little Meg finished eating and began to help Theodore with the dough. She played around, then helped her mama, ate lunch then it was time for her usual break in the afternoon.

Megan took a few pieces of bread that she had made and puts them in a small basket. She wakes to the back door when she saw her brother standing leaning on the door.

"I'm coming with you to see this 'pretty brother' that you meet yesterday alright?" Theodore said as he reached out his hand to hold onto hers.

"Yes brother" answered little Meg.

They stepped into the back yard garden, which had an abundance of sunlight and trees bearing fruits. A figure was seen leaning onto the wooden doors of the fences that surrounds the garden.

"Pretty brother!" Megan yelled excitedly as she walked up to Victon.

"Did you forget my name already? My name is Victon not pretty brother" said Victon as he looked at boy next to little Meg.

"Who are you and why did you come back to see my sister?" Theodore asked suspiciously.

"Well first of all it was your sister that insists for me to come back and play with her. She even bribed me with bread" Victon answered.

"..." Theodore didn't know what to say as he looked at Megan.

"Pretty brotha- I mean Victon! If you play hide and seek with me and my brother, I'll give you this basket of bread! I made it herself!" Megan said with her eyes shining.

"...Alright" Victon said patting little Meg's hair.

Theodore has been observing Victon, he had a sword by his side and the fabric of his clothes looks expensive. He was suspicious of Victon, but couldn't feel any bad intentions from him. Nevertheless, Theodore didn't put down his guard as he slowly nod his head to show Megan that he'll play hide and seek.

Megan was it, she had her hands on her eyes as she counted up to thirty. Both of the boys climbed the highest apple tree and sat on a branch adjacent of each other.

"What's your intentions with my sister?" Theodore asked with a cold attitude.

"Nothing... I just meet her here when I tried to run away from my guards, skipping my lessons" Victon answered.

"Ready or not! Here I come! Hehehe~" Megan said with giggles.

"What's your name?" Victon whispered.

"Theodore" said Theodore.

"Well Theodore, you should teach Megan not to talk and go with strangers she just meet. What if I have ill intentions like kidnapping? She looks like a good kid so I'm telling you this" said Victon.

"..." Theodore's face became furious as he thought about his baby sister being kidnapped. Maybe he should teach her again about it as she tends to forget many things.

After ten minutes little Meg got tired trying to find the two boys. "BROTHAAAA where are you?" She yelled as she got frustrated.

"I think we're up here for a bit too long now, she always get mad when she can't find me." Said Theodore as he climbed back down. Victon came shortly after he jumped down.

"You meanie, I can't climb trees you can't hide there!" Megan pouted.

"...sorry" said Victon.

They played around some more before little Meg was satisfied.

"Victon here's the bread I promised!" Said Megan as she held out a small basket.

Victon nodded as he took the basket, opened it and saw small pieces of bread. He chuckled at the thought of Megan's small fingers kneading dough to make these bread.

"Thank you" said Victon as he waved the two siblings goodbye.

"You're coming tomorrow right pretty brother?" Megan asked.

"..." Victon wasn't sure, but nodded nonetheless.

Just like he went back home after getting himself a basket of small bread.
