Away

For the next few weeks Victon had come over to the bakery after he had finished his lessons. He did skipped lessons here and there, but there were no major problems.

"You come here almost every day, so might as well as move in while you're at it" Theodore said sarcastically rolling his eyes at Victon.

"..." Victon didn't reply and Theodore rolled his eyes again. The amount of times Theodore has rolled his eyes was astronomical to the point that he can have eye muscles by now.

The Vinnesia couple didn't mind the young boy as they see how much Megan likes to play with him. They saw his attire and the engraved sword hanging from his hips, but felt it would be rude to ask questions. They thought that when the time is right, he'll just tell them on his own accord.

When reading books to Megan, Victon would teach her new words and phrases that she didn't know about. Megan is 8 years old and was receiving her lessons like Theodore. They go to the same place, but have different teachers to teach them as they were three years apart. Their schedule was in the early morning they go to take their lessons, and it ended near noon. Then the siblings would come back and help out at the bakery. In the afternoon was when Victon drops by.

Today was the same as usual. The sun drops down and the night came up. Victon waved at the family who was cleaning up and said his goodbye.

Victon walked back to the Yvonne mansion. This mansion was enormous in size with a pretty and strong structure. The front of the mansion was designed pleasantly. It had a fountain and some flowers and trees. To get to the front of the mansion you had to pass the large gates which is heavily guarded by knights.

"Welcome back young master" said the knights in unison as they opened the gates.

"Hm" Victon said with a nod.

He walked to the front door seeing a couple of servants clearing the yard with the instructions of the butler.

Seeing the young master, butler Delian said, "welcome back young master, dinner is about to start so you should hurry in."

"Hm" Victon said once again.

Entering the mansion, the first thing that would captured a person's eyes immediately was a massive painting of the Yvonne family. There was the Duke and Duchess of Yvonne and their three sons, Victon, Desmond, and Hendery. Victon is the oldest, while Desmond and Hendery was three years younger than him and they are twins.

Going through the marble hallways, Victon made his way to the dinning room for dinner. The servants opened the door for Victon, revealing the big and gorgeous dinning room. The ceiling dangling with many chandeliers in the middle was a long rectangle table with many seats, Victon made his way to the left side of the table.

"Oh look who decided to show up" his mother said sarcastically.

"Victon come, dinner will be served now" said his father signaling the servant to bring their dinner.

"Brother! Where did you go? Didn't you say you were going to help me practice my swordsmanship!" Said Desmond.

"Hey! he promised me to help me with my economics homework!" Hendery said.

"I never made promises to you two unless your head made it up" Victon replied as he took his seat. The servants came out holding the dinner plates while the family continued to bicker.

Unlike the other noble families, the Yvonne was loving and laid back when it comes to family time. Mr. and Mrs. Yvonne married out of love unlike some other nobles who married out of greed.

"Alright stop arguing and eat your dinner while it's hot" Mrs. Yvonne said picking up her utensils.

No choice but to obey their mother, the twins began to eat their steaks.

"Victon, how are you keeping up with your studies? And don't lie to me mister because I know you had skipped some lessons" Mrs. Yvonne said taking a napkin cleaning her mouth.

"I'm doing fine mother you know I'm smart, so skipping small lessons wouldn't affect me" Victon replied.

"What about you two? I know you guys skipped lessons too" asked Mrs. Yvonne.

The twins froze up and eyed each other. Desmond who picked up the signal said, "we're doing amazing mother, have you seen my swordsmanship? I cut up all the dummy dolls!"

"Yeah mother we're doing great" replied Hendery with cold sweat on his forehead.

"Hm alright" Mrs. Yvonne said slowly narrowing her eyes.

The family continued to chat and eat with a lovely atmosphere. Later when he had finished his dinner, Mr. Yvonne said, "Victon, when you finish come up to the study."

Victon nodded. Later, Victon had finish his dinner and went to his father's study. Arriving at the study he knocked the door and heard a voice saying, "come in".

Entering the study Victon saw his father looking at his documents on his desk. "I have something important to tell you son" his father said with a loud sigh, "Since you're getting older now, I was thinking of letting you go into one of our fiefs for you to take care of. You're going to inherit the Dukedom and you have to start somewhere small, so I thought of a fief. It's small for you to take care of so you'll get familiar with how things work when you inherit the Dukedom."

Victon's face remained neutral, but his thoughts were somewhere else.

"But it's not just a small task Victon. The Venus kingdom has been acting up lately so the Court of Starlight is currently suspecting that a war might take place. So I need you to take care of the fief, at the same time update me on any movements of Venus. This place is dangerous as it's close to the border. Do you think you can take it on?" His father asked looking at him dead in the eye.

Victon remained silent as he was thinking of the pros and cons. He then opened his mouth to ask, "how long will this all take?"

His father said with a sigh, "I don't know, it might take a couple of months, but could stretch into a couple of years."

The two became silent as the atmosphere was cold and hard to breathe.

After minutes passed Victon opened his mouth to say, "I'll do it."
