Chapter forty four

*While Krystal was locked alone with the king in his chamber ,her handmaidens felt very restless .*

How is she doing now ? ,Laura asked Sara and Lydia who were equally stressed out with the tension of Krystal 's safety .

We can't trust her safety with the king at all ,Lydia voice out twisting her fingers around .

Sara stood still and very agitated ,she equally wondered about how Krystal must be fairing right now ?

"All lost in questions and answers ,they patrol the room like security guards who were keeping a watch over the night ."

**WALES ' CHAMBER **

In the middle of the night ,Wales began to shiver as he heard a feminine voice constantly calling him to save her .

' Save me ,save me ....she keeps on stretching his hands but she draws back each time he goes closer .

Save me in her thin agonizing sweet voice and then suddenly ....'

'Wales ,get up .'

Queen Marga tapped him as he was as hot as burning flames of fire .

"Seeing his condition ,queen Marga quickly woke Rhian up while ordering some handmaidens to get her cold water and a towel ."

'Rhian was fast asleep and didn't notice that her husband's life was on the line .'

"Mother in-law ,she called out once she woke up and hurriedly ran to sit by Wale's side portraying the attitude of a good wife but Queen Marga was unperturbed since her son's life was in danger ."

She soaked the towel in the cold water and placed it on his forehead while Rhian kept rubbing his hands and legs to keep him till he was calm .

He's stable now ,queen Marga said to Rhian who was dozing off ,constantly using her hands to cover her mouth .

How could you be so careless Rhian ? ,queen Marga scolded her .

You left the windows opened and allowed it to constantly flap producing cool breezes into your chamber knowing perfectly well the condition of your husband .

I left you in charge and you let him lie there bare chested without even bothering to cover him up with the blankets .

He could have died if I had not come in at the eleventh hour to give him first aid.

Is this the kind of wife you are ?

And you are dozing off while I'm still talking .

'Mother in-law, what do you expect me to do ?,she asked with her daisy voice .'

It's late and I'm feeling sleepy ,I have done my part by staying at his side .

What more do you want me to do ?

"Seriously Rhian ,is this the only thing you have to say after exposing my son's life to such danger ?

Don't make me take back my words as daughter in-law because if that happens ,then I will personally see to it that ,he gets a second wife .

Till date ,I have influenced him about the dangers of a second marriage because I'm saving time just for him to love you ,so that in future ,if he marries more than one it will basically be for the sake of making allies .

It seems you are not appreciating my efforts Rhian .

If Wales doesn't get to ever love you then ,your dreams of becoming crowned queen will be shattered and your children will not be entitled to anything.

You will lose everything to his younger wives and your rivals because they will rule the inner court with their children .

I know you understand this perfectly well ,your mother runs the inner court even as your father's seventh wife because he loves her .

My son became the crowned Prince by fighting and being victorious in wars but this position is not stable because his brothers are just waiting for his downfall to ascend the throne .

Aside his brothers ,Krystal has become a threat because if the king falls for her beauty then her children will run this kingdom as well as the inner court.

Her child will ascend the throne and you will be left with nothing .

That is why I'm fighting for you ,so if you don't put in your efforts ,our struggle will be in vein ."

'Rhian's eye brightened by just listening to queen Marga's words '.

Gema has lost everything now ,she continued to speak ; I don't want our family lineage to go through such embarrassment .

'Mother in-law ,I'm so sorry ,I didn't think of this before .

I have been so childish ,forgive me ,she cried out .'

If you truly want to be forgiven ,then cut all ties with Bernice .

She's no more your cousin but a threat to your husband .

She picks up information from you and hands it over to her husband as a weapon of destruction .

Essien and Roman are basically selfish and hypocrites like their mothers .

They wait and attack from behind when there's a chance .
