Chapter 2 : A What?

When I tell you I hate the guts of people who destroy my peace like the person on the phone call last night did, I mean it. I haven't slept a wink after that call and I have been continuously replaying the whole recording of the conversation as if it was a love confession. One could consider it to be that but with me the case is different.

Does it stop me from wanting to kill em? No! Certainly not! Without a doubt!

The point is that how was the person even able to reach me in the first place because it's so hard to even place or receive calls in this house. And on top of that my number is so exclusive that only three people in this whole world have it.

I swear the reason behind is certainly not exclusivity.

Anyways the main thing is the call cannot be received or made in this house because of the jammers being placed everywhere to disrupt the network. And there is a particular time table set for the jammers to be on and off. And even when they are off the calls are being recorded or heard.

Believe me or not the amount of precautionary care taken around me is heavier than that of the Military and defense. And why is that? Well, you'll see.

So the conclusion would be that whosoever called last night was someone who is aware of this whole arrangement.

Who could it be?

The servants and maids are only aware of the timings when they can call or receive a call and not about the jammers. And the significant part is the person on the call is someone who is aware of my identity plus the rules of this house. Something is fishy about that call and it was neither for ransom nor threat. Who the fuck is it?

I hear a soft knock on the door, "Who the fuck is it?" I demanded.

Oh shit! I literally said it out loud.

"It's me, Lexi! Are you okay?" She hissed and I bite my tongue. "Please! Come in." I mumble and the door to my room opens as she steps in smiling sheepishly with a tray and a bundle of sheets in her hand. Her raven hair tied up in a bun while her fringes framing her pale white face. Her green eyes becoming more clear as the sunlight falls upon it and a smile plays on her lips as she walks towards the balcony.

She has two cups of coffee and sugar as she places the tray on the table right in front of me. She picks the stack of papers and keeps them with her. She is wearing a mom jeans with a pink flowy blouse, "That was not for you, Maria!" I hiss and she just settles next to me, "What wasn't for me?" She pressed, "The question I asked it wasn't for you", I mumble and she smiles, "Are you trying to apologize, Lexi?", she narrows her eyes at me.

Yes! Welcome to the party. This is my aunt and the Head Steward of this house. Believe me when I say she takes more pride in that title and being my aunt than anything else. She has been taking care of me since I was a baby, so I have heard. As per my memory she has been there since I was eight and has been looking after everything as she was the supposed legal guardian.

"Never mind! I never said anything", I draw a line rolling my eyes and she pats my head happily crossing that line.

Excellent!

"I heard last night was terrible. Are you okay, hun?" She probes while sipping on her coffee, "Nothing I cannot handle, Maria! When did u arrive?", I mumble while having my coffee and sigh as it makes my insides feel good, "An hour ago, actually! I rushed here knowing that you cannot survive long without my light", She beams, "I don't about surviving but I might go blind because of your light", I groan rolling my eyes and she just smiles even more.

"Anyways, let's begin. I am here to help you with your look today", she chirps and I just ogle at her confused, "What do you mean?", I wonder and she just returns me with the same confused look until something clicks in her mind. She looks at me mortified, "Oh my god! He didn't tell you did he?", she looks at me wide eyed while rubbing her forehead.

I narrow my eyes at her, "No! Nothing I know of. So, you tell me! What's the special occasion?", I intervene and she gives me an apologetic smile, "Um! Actually the thing is we have arranged an interview for you today. There is a fixed script, the reporters are aware of the conditions and everything is taken care of. So you need not worry about anything. I am so sorry that nobody told you about it. We can reschedule it for sure. I just -", she trails off as she finds me growing uncomfortable and reaches for my hand, "Don't!", I warn her and she ogles at me with concerned eyes and furrowed brows while retrieving her hands.

"No need to reschedule it", I state while looking at her with dead eyes, "You can get back to work. I'll see u downstairs in sometime", I say picking up the script from the table, "Let me atleast help you with -",

"I can take care of myself, Maria", I
