Chapter 9: NIGHTS OF TERROR

It was dark, and no light entered our room,

We all sleep together, to avoid unspeakable doom,

But that did not save us from the sounds of hunger,

Just outside our home, human bodies being torn asunder.

I felt myself getting sick, as even in this enclosed space,

I can smell the bloody scene, of corpses,

I swear even I, can imagine what it tastes,

I wonder if I'd sleep peacefully, or how many trip to the therapist, or how many courses.

I looked at the woman, and the few strong men among us,

Even if they let me in, I still haven't given all trust,

After all, they might just use me for their own survival,

They may treat me nothing more, than a hunting animal.

The screams outside becomes louder and louder,

I tried to close my eyes, and sleep but to no avail,

They kept screaming and scratching, followed by the sounds of thunder,

Try to dream as I hope, but their groans prevailed.

The children with us, cried and whimper,

And nothing I could do, but hope for the better,

When will this madness end? When will I get answers?

But for now, all I must do, is stand up, and get tougher...
