Chapter 141: WHEN EVIL GETS THE CHANCE

Ken's POV:

.

.

.

"I...thank you for the food, see you around!"

"Hey, you should have at least answered me before you turn around,"

"Huh? Oh, well...I can't really tell, you know?

I didn't expect you to like me after all!"

"Hmmm, why? What do you think I've been acting in the past?"

"Huh? You and your brother were there for me, and saving me was actually the reason your brother passed.

I am indebted to both of your kindness,

(And I was still in disbelief of your advances)

But frankly, I really don't know about your feelings,

Sorry if by any means, you feel like we had a chance or something.

I don't want to make Mar feel uncomfortable,

And you too, I think someone out there deserves you better."

I felt my heart jumping up and down,

As I wait for her response, but she should be fine somehow.

After all, the Stacy I know was sweet and understanding,

She wouldn't possibly lash out or something-

"You...really don't like me in any way?"

She whispered so low but I could still hear it.

"I-I'm sorry,"

"Ah! I said it out loud, huh? No, it was just me being silly,"

Stacy walks away, in what was obviously a faked expression,

As I was left behind, wondering still about the confession.

Damn.

So it also took the end of the world for me to be a ladies' man?

Tsk.

What funny play of chance.

...

Stacy's POV:

Damn, what loser was this body before?

This body I possess is beautiful than her!

And that Mar somehow gets him better?

What? My eyes are bluer and prettier!

This shouldn't be happening,

He should fall for me and then go to decieving,

It's hard to make that guy cheat with Mar,

Especially now that I know he truly had a very good heart.

Azazel's ring on my left hand glowed,

As I bit my finger to give it blood,

The information was quickly passed through,

I wonder when Samael would be back.

I looked around the room they had given me,

I was sharing it with a young girl and boy sleeping soundly,

According to the angels, their mother had passed,

Due to an illness, and a fatal wound at that.

I couldn't really care less, as they were annoying,

Sleeping still, though the sun's up and shining.

I began eating my food, and that is when they suddenly awoke,

The boy coming towards me, asking for a few.

"Can't you go out and get your own share?

Or pick some fruits the angels are growing over there,"

But the boy did not respond, so I had nou choice but give up my tray,

As I turned back, and asked for another share.

A kind looking angel they call Joseph,

Approached me, "Wait, we've already met,"

"Yeah, but the kid insisted on getting my food,

He doesn't even talk when I asked him, how rude,"

His blue eyes looked at me warmly,

"I guess you better understand his story!"

"Uh, no thanks, I just want to get food,"

"Ah, oh! I'm sorry, yeah, I guess you should."

He looked rather upset and when I realized he might tell the others,

I decided to stay a bit longer,

"Sorry for being the one who's rude, I was just hungry,

You can go ahead, tell me their story."

...

I went back, trying hard not to feel any pity,

As I saw the two, eating quickly,

They saw the two new tray of food, one for me and another for them,

They quickly walked towards me, chomping the food down again with no problem.

I sighed, looking at the children, as I eat the bread and slices of fruit I kept for myself,

They were small but eat like adults,

They truly did come from a family with little food.

"Hey," I gestured to the girl,

As she moved to me, although warily and slow.

I gave her my hair tie, and tied her black hair into a bun,

As she looked at me with admiration in her eyes.

That's satisfying. If kids are used in my plans,

They can never be suspected, and to hurt them the angels simply can't.

"What's your name?"

But she refused to say it.

Well, it could take days,

But it sure will be worth it.

After all, all I had to do is rid of Ken's beloved, right?

Poison her perhaps? Stage an illness so she can die.

After that, I'd try to mourn and comfort Ken,

And AFTER that...ah! Everything else will be an easy pretend.

...

"Are you alright?" Mammon asked his son panting from the training,

"I guess so," He replied as he kept on catching his breathing.

"You seemed unwell, like something's bothering you,"

"I am fine, father. I will only breathe heavily a few,"

He lied.

He recalled a nightmare he had the time he woke up,

Seeing the fate of his father he still felt shocked,

His knees were trembling, and he looked at Mammon,

Who had no idea what he have just dreamed of.

"Eh? You really look pale, I think you should stop,"

"But father, my strenght still isn't enough,"

"At this rate, I think you'd die before you fight the angels,

So just listen to what I just said."

Mammon said in genuine concern,

Making Elenchos feel more sadness and hurt.

It was but a dream, but it could also turn into reality,

What if in the end, he'd truly lose his family?

The demon of greed didn't truly believe it was fatigue,

So he kept a close eye on him as he rest his body and wings.

Weird, Elenchos doesn't look like that before,

But he noticed he's been acting differently earlier.

As if he's scared.

"Can I ask you a question?"

His son nodded with no hesitation.

"You don't want to fight the angels, do you?"

"Huh? Of course I want to."

"Why are you shaking? Trembling at that,"

"I just...really am tired,"

"I don't think so, I've seen the difference countless times,

If you are feeling something else, tell me, it's fine.

Let me make up to you with all the time we have lost,

I am still not near to a good father, but one could try I suppose."

Elenchos felt like tearing up,

"Your presence with me, is more than enough!"

Mammon smiles and ruffles his son's milky white hair,

"You are very kind, I still ask myself how you're a demon with that kind of mind,"

"Father. Do you really think we can win this fight?"

His tone was filled, with what Mammon recognised as fright.

So that was what his son was worried about?

He too didn't know better, but he got to try somehow.

He doesn't want to break his spirit, so he laughs to ease the tension,

"Of course we do, we'd put those cocky angels out of commission,

You'll see, and Lucifer will claim his rightful throne,

As we rule the world, and turn those who oppose us to bones."

"Father, is God truly not good?"

Mammon was shocked, but answered him nonetheless,

"No good Father would hurt and throw their children away,"

Mammon said, as Elenchos listened intently on what he has to say.

"You were young when I first told you,

And perhaps I filtered most of the important things,

Maybe you even forgot about it,

But this is the reason I hated Father with all the ruthlessness He had to bring.

At first, I was...an angel. Who really didn't like Lucifer's opposition,

So I followed him to earth, determined to stop his plans from succession.

But as I have told you before, I fell in love with a half-human,

But when they found out, they killed my family with their own hands.

We found love, and they robbed it away,

Causing me great pain so I decided not to stay,

They claim greed filled my heart, and I guess they are right,

For how can anything satisfy a man? Who watched his family burn and wither to dust.

Perhaps I did made wrongs,

Forsaking my duty, lying, and the list goes on,

But I would have accepted it more if they killed me,

And not lay a finger on my poor family.

They claim they're doing it so evil won't spread,

But most of the only good things in my life, is now dead.

How can a man still stay sane after such?

I turned my sadness to gambling, as I only think of luck.

If...if Father really cared, He would have given me a chance,

But no, they destroyed me, made me an ever-longing man.

So Elenchos, I don't want you to have pity on anyone on the other side,

Remember they only watched, as your brother and sisters died."

Elenchos looks down, and whispered, "I remember,

I remember what you told me and wrote it on paper,

I understand your longing, but know you still have me,

As long as I'm standing, you're never alone, so please don't be too lonely."

Mammon didn't feel used to such words before,

So he only turned the other way, as he laughed at his words.

"You're truly young, you haven't seen rest of the world,

And if you did, I'm sure you'd turn angry and cold."

Elenchos knew he still doesn't have much anger,

Nor much reason to cause the angels danger,

But he knew that if it is for his father,

He'd use all his strength, just to make sure those angels will suffer.
