The Omen

In a large room inside a certain training camp in the middle of nowhere, two groups of individuals were having a stare down against each other. On one side were five teens; four boys and a girl, while on the other were two adults; a man and a woman.

"Again, who ruined my surprise?!"

As if they had one mind, four of the teens turned their heads as one, towards a particular direction. Leo's mouth twitched when he saw who the other students were looking at. He had found his culprit. It was Argo.

"Cough, can I ask how you managed to figure it out?" Leo asked. It was obvious that his tone was a lot nicer than before.

"Sure" Argo replied.

"Great!" Leo exclaimed with a smile. He really would love to hear how his perfect prank was seen through.

"I'd be happy to help, but… It's a secret."Argo purposely dragged out his last words, teasing Leo.

Leo's smile slowly froze.

Argo continued. "I said you could ask. I never said i'd tell you the answer."

Leo was thoroughly infuriated. Although he had wanted to be a bit friendly to Argo, even a monk had a limit to his endurance. Just as he wanted to teach Argo a little lesson, The woman beside him spoke up for the first time.

"Ahem. Let's introduce ourselves, shall we? My name is Vee, and this is my colleague Leo. We shall be your Magical Lesson Instructors." It was obvious she was trying hard not to laugh, and this pissed Leo off even more.

"Let's start. Now what do you students know about the five elements." All the students raised their hands. Vee smiled and said "Put down your hands. That was a rhetorical question."

"The five elements are Earth, Fire, Water, Wind and Lightning. Elements that are able to be manipulated by Bournes..."

Adah raised her hand in the air, Vee nodded at her. She asked her question. "What is a bournes."

"I was expecting that question." Vee smiled lightly. "And it is Bourne as singular, and Bournes as plural. A Bourne is simply a person with the ability to control and element. Wind Bourne, Fire Bourne, Lightning Bourne.

As long as you can control an element, you are a Bourne."

She peered at Adah and Harry, and continued. "While does who have low elemental affinity are known as half-Bourne. Not as dangerous as Bournes, but quite deadly. Ordinary people are known are Norms."

"Do you understand?"

"Yes ma!" They students echoed.

"Good. Moving on, The Art of Bourning." Vee looked around the room to see if the students where paying attention.

She continued "Bourning is traditionally performed through the motions of one's hands and feet. Certain high level Bournes are able to effectively control and manipulate their elements with only minimal movement of their body, such as by using just their heads, torsos, or even just their fingers."

"It is said that in even higher levels, some Bournes are able to control their elements without the aid of any physical movement at all, instead using sheer focus and force of will." Vee sighed. "This is one our ultimate goals as Bournes."

Even Leo beside her also had a look of awe and longing on his face. But a moment later, he shook himself out of his reverie and said ominously. "That is a very high and distant goal. Your only concern should be to work hard. Work hard, because that is the only way to escape your Fates. A fate of being cannon fodder..."

"Enough Leo!" Vee cut him off sternly. It looked like Leo had trodden into forbidden waters.

"Why? They should be told the fate that awaits them. That awaits all of us. We will all die."

Vee turned to the class. "I'm sorry, but my colleague is obviously not feeling fine. The class will be dismissed early. See you tomorrow." She grabbed Leo's arm and stomped on the ground. It opened up, and they fell through, out of the eyes of the dumbstruck and confused students.

"Ehh, What just happened? Where are the Instructors?" Argo asked as he wiped the drool on his mouth. It looked like he just woke up.
