The Road That We Use To Walk

CHAPTER I

A greeting but rather shy tone went into my ears. I shift my gaze towards my left, a girl gave me a light sway. Well regarding the situation, a normal person would reply with a greeting or another wave of your hand. But I didn't, I completely ignored the girl who was calling me. I then sat on the waiting shed then patiently waited for my ride.

"Hey!"

putting on a pouting face and annoyed expression she sat beside my then started poking my cheek. "Hey...why are you ignoring me, Steven? That's not nice ya know!"

Still completely ignoring her, I switched my gaze at the people walking by. Still nagging me about ignoring her greetings eventually got sick of it.

"So? What do you want this time?" I muttered rolling my eyes and giving her a cold shoulder.

"Uhm...let see..." she looks up then held her chin thinking.

Letting a sigh I grumbled. Isn't she late for school or something?

"Look I don't have all the time in the world...I need to go" muttering my annoyance I said.

"Ah! I know! Can you follow my crush and list his hobbies?" she shouted, followed by her embarrassed expression. Is she really, serious?

Slowly looking away I wrinkled my brows and replied with a rather unpleasant tone.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me right? Please I want to ask him out!" being persistent she closed her eyes, closed her hands, then began to beg.

"that's basically 'stalking' right? I refuse" still using a cold tone in my voice.

"Please, come on just this once!" continuing her request, the voice of her grows louder.

"Look it's around seven in the morning, can you please tone it down a bit"

"Are you saying that you agree on our deal?" her eyes suddenly sparkled upon hearing my response.

"Sigh...It's not actually a deal, right? This request of yours only benefits your love life. What's in it for me though?"

"Well you can relive your youthful shenanigans by watching him, you're a teenager after all" putting a smile and a sudden giggle she replied. The thought of following a certain person sounds creepy already, doing it because someone requested it. It's much more disgusting.

"I don't know yet...what's on your mind or request for me?" She then replied.

"If I do this will you leave me alone?" still using a cold tone.

"Hmmm... Maybe?" giggling again while covering her lips using her hands.

Letting out a huge sigh...

"Ok...just stop nagging me when I'm done with your shameful request"

A sudden ache on my leg surprised me.

"Hey is kicking me fun to you?"

"It's not shameful! I'm just thinking in advance!" shouting her expression change from extremely embarrassed, her ears starting to turn red. Then after hearing her annoying squicky voice a bus stopped in front of the shed. The door slid open I entered the bus by the looks of it, a lot of students already took the seats. You can count the available seats with your fingers.

"Hey Amber, aren't you going in?"

"I'm still waiting for a friend don't mind me you can go ahead" She replied smiling then waved.

"If you say so"

The door slide shut and the bus began moving, I stood at the corner of the bus while holding on to the pole. As my scenery change from time to time, I can see the sun began to shine on us. I let out a slight smile as I enjoy my ride and the smell of air condition the bus provided. After the ten minute ride. Our bus stop in front of our school gate, flashing a red signal inside indicating we can go down.

Walking alongside my schoolmates, I felt something fall on my head. It was raining, the clouds began grumbling, and then suddenly the sky let down a cry. I ran towards the main entrance of our school building, luckily our school planted trees along the sidewalks. Arriving at my class, my classmates as usual gathered in groups in circles and talking about their weekend. Some of them are sitting on the desk and some are standing up laughing their brains out.

I, on the other hand just ignored them and sat on my designated chair then observed the waterworks continue to fall on the windows. The school bell rang, as the ringing bell covered the entire school ground our homeroom teacher came inside our class. Her heels flopped as she approaches the podium. To get my classmate's attention our teacher clapped her hands.

"Okay settle down everyone! Homeroom is starting…I'll call everyone for attendance so quiet down guys"

Our teacher started to say our names in alphabetical order, girls first then boys. Still, I can hear my classmates talk while our teacher speaks loudly calling out our names in front of the podium. After a minute or two, the list eventually came from A to W.

"Woods, Steven!" All the mutterings and chats suddenly stop. My teacher's eyes drifted down in panic and started scribbling, then took a peek at my classmates. The whole class gave an unusual aura, the atmosphere is so thick you can cut it with a knife just to start a conversation or noise.

Then slowly raising her hand, our class representative, stood up from her seat. Calmly and worried. Holding her chest by her left hand while shifting her gaze from left to right she spoke up.

"Miss…It's been a week since Steven died, maybe it's best to get a new attendance sheet?" she told everyone. Eventually cutting a hole in the thick atmosphere.

"That might be the case I'm sorry for my mistake, now let's continue or attendance for to-"

The class continued as if nothing ever happened. But you can still feel the awkwardness in the air. Still outside the skies maintained, as usual, continuing doing its job.
