CHAPTER III: The Other Side Of The Road

We both know now that life can be unfair sometimes to other people. Some may live and some can leave. We can't change our fate we already know that. Acceptance can't be rush at a certain point in life but, a process in which we can accept little by little is still progress.

My watch started to ring, I know what's going to happen now…

"Steven your watch…" Amber lifted her head away from my chest.

"I...I know" I muttered.

I couldn't speak properly it's my due date already? A guy appeared behind us, no doubt it was my angel. He waved at me and yawned.

"Yo, Steven it's time…You ready, gosh! I'm sleepy…" stretching his arms while holding a cup of coffee.

"Looks to me you've been working nights huh?"

"Yeah, it's been pretty busy lately you know?"

Never knew Heaven has an office. If I will be able to go there for the rest of my life, can I visit the offices or something?

"Oh…wait Steven just a sec" My angel grabbed something in his left pocket, It was a smartphone. Still can't believe the afterlife can be this advance.

"It's that a smartphone?!" Out of nowhere, Amber spoke up.

"Hey…he's on the phone just wait for him to be finished"

"Alright grandpa I'll be quiet…"

"Who you calling-"

"YES!" My angel suddenly blasted his arms upward in excitement.

"Hey…wait what's going on?" confused I wrinkled my eyebrow.

"Our boss said I can take you both up now since you passed together," He said.

"Wait…passed?"

My angel explained further.

"The reason why you guys are stuck on earth for almost a month, it's because of a test…the test that has been given to you is "The test of Acceptance". From the looks on your faces seems to me you understand how the test works right?"

"I-I see…"

I just replied and didn't say a word after that. But it looks like I and Amber completed the examination.

"Now then…"

My angel snapped his fingers, then in front of our eyes, a light shinned.

"Please step inside the portal…we don't have much time here"

I was about to step forward but suddenly Amber grabbed my arm.

"H-Hey if it's okay to you can I hold your hand?" her face turned reddish.

"O-Oh…sure do what you want" I drifted my gaze.

"Hehe…what's this, hmmm?" smirking my angel looked at me.

"It's not what you think…come on are you going to guide us or what?" I replied using a cold tone.

"Okay no need to be so cranky"

The three of us went to the portal. A light shinned once again to us like the stars in the skies as we enter. I saw a courtroom-like facility and our angel told us to seat in front of the podium. An old man entered the courtroom then brought out a mallet.

"Sorry for the delay it was my lunch break so…I took some mana bread on our food service"

We both sat there nervously.

"Now then let us begin".
