Chapter 2. The mystery of the Taiga

*In the taiga.*

The group of people who wore professional operator clothes was walking in the Taiga forest located formerly known as the Russia-Mongolia border. The Taiga was pretty cold and it wasn't a suitable place where humans would live. Then why they were in here? That was because they got news about strange looking monster spotted around here. From the eyewitness's words, the monster was a big lizard that had pair of wings. Even though the military thought it was bullsh*t, they still had to check to be safe.

"How could a lizard be living here? That's bullsh*t!!!" one of the younger-looking men shouted.

"True." others added. But their whining couldn't hinder their captain's determination.

"We have to check. After 'that', everything we thought of as common sense became useless. So there really could be a giant lizard living here." The captain told his subordinates.

After walking here while they spotted the footprint that could be the lizard's.

The younger one's convinced by this evidence and tracked it.

Soon the lizard came into sight. It was sleeping peacefully and majestically about 10 meters from the team. The lizard was truly enormous for its peers and had two red bat-like wings attached to its back. Red scales looked like it bathed in fresh blood, enormous body size, two wings, and majestic aura. It was truly like the dragon from the myths.

After taking a good look at their target, the captain gave instructions to his subordinates. One of the men stayed layed on his stomach and assembled the gun on his back in front of him. It was a sniper rifle. While he was getting ready, others moved to the lizard stealthily.

After the 4 men got into their position, the captain gave the signal to the sniper. As soon as the sniper saw this he clicked the trigger of his sniper rifle.

*SFX of the bullet piercing through the air.*

The bullet which escaped from the gun, after traveling for few seconds hit the lizard's forehead.

Lizard woke up and let out a thunderous roar. This indicated that their plan had been unsuccessful. They had been ordered to investigate the Taiga and if there is a big lizard they should capture it alive. Due to this the bullet that was shot earlier was a sedative bullet that could easily neutralize the biggest elephants.

While the lizard was roaring, the captain gave the next instruction without wasting time.

Three of the 4, rushed to the lizard while the last one began to use magic on the lizard. The clash started.

The lizard looked at the incoming three with its scarlet eyes that were full of anger. Without wasting time, the lizard once again roared. But this time it's mouth wasn't pointing to the sky but the three. Soon flame erupted from its mouth and ferociously rushed to the three.

Upon sight of this one of the three who had a big shield despite being small stood in front of others and placed his big shield in front of him while the other two lined after him. They were protected from the flames but the temperature around them was getting hotter and hotter.

Seeing his teammates got into trouble, the sniper set his eyes on the lizard's weak point which was its opened mouth. He knew he needed a very resilient bullet to the heat. Luckily, he had a bullet made out of titanium that has been coated by the magic to enhance its speed and reduce its weight. He shot the titanium bullet without thinking twice.

The lizard noticed the incoming bullet and closed its mouth and got hit in the nose area.

As soon as the lizard stopped spitting flames, the three started to move.

"[Battle Cry]" the midget tank shouted. Red aura dispensed into the air, the lizard began to attack him.

The lizard attacked using its right claws to the tank. But it was blocked by the big shield.

"[Lightning Bolt]" the mage who stayed behind shouted and the pulse of lightning came out from his pointed finger and attacked the lizard. The lightning type of attack was one of the best if the user wanted to paralyze or stun the enemy.

The lizard let out a roar once again after getting hit by the lightning.

After the lightning current finished, the other two used magic enhanced iron net trying to capture the lizard's movement.

The net pinned the lizard down, fulfilling the team's goal.

Others came to the pinned lizard and placed the captured lizard on the big cart.

"What lizard, isn't it a freaking real life dragon?" The sniper named Kai exclaimed.

"Right?" the tank named Pete added too. Soon the youngsters began to chit chat.

"Silence. Let's transport the lizard." the captain named Joshua declared.

"Aye, aye captain." Kai replied in a childish tone.

"Stop playing around." Joshua said coldly and placed a strange gadget on the ground. After clicking a blue button on it, a blue portal appeared on top of the gadget. The portal was bigger than the lizard since they thought if there is really a big lizard they would have to capture and transport it. Thus they brought the biggest portal and cart to transport ease.

Joshua, Pete, and Lance were dragging the lizard using their physical power and went into the portal followed by Kai and Vincent the mage.

On the other hand of the portal was a group of men waiting for them. And when the team who went on a mission to investigate and capture the lizard came out of it, honestly almost all of them were surprised by the lizard. They all thought it was a lie.

"Seems like you have returned, operator Joshua." the man leading the group said and congratulated them. "Congratulation on getting the mission done."

"Thanks, general Kobe." the captain, Joshua nodded. "And here is the lizard." pointed at the lizard who was struggling to break free.

"There really was a lizard in the cold Taiga, huh." Kobe exclaimed while looking at the enormous lizard.

"It's a real dragon. Not a lizard." Kai said out loud and got scolded afterward by Joshua.

"Dragon? Why do you think so?" Kobe asked the youth?

"Because it can breathe fire, has wings and enormous. Red-colored. Just like the dragons from movies." Kai replied in a childish tone.

"Now you mention it, it sure looks like a dragon." Kobe said looked at the real life-life
