Chapter 4. Scream

It has been at least a month since I encountered the bear. During this time I still couldn't find a way out of the forest. But the time wasn't inefficient as I was practicing 'World where darkness rules.' every day and night. Lucky or not, 'WWDL' doesn't seem to consume anything at all as I wouldn't get physically nor mentally exhausted even if I practice it all day long.

Obviously, I didn't just practice the 'WWDL'. I also needed to know it's limitations as it would be beneficial in the future.

The range I could summon or manipulate the darkness was around 15 meters radius which could be short or long, I don't know for sure.

For defense or durability, it seems almost indestructible as I couldn't find a way to inflict damage on it. But there could be a way to destroy it since I only tried some primitive tactics. The strongest thing it defended against was the bear.

For attack or destructive power, it was able to pin down a huge bear easily. Also, it was able to destroy a tree with around a 20 cm radius with a single attack.

For potential, it seemed to have limitless if a user is creative and smart as for me the 'WWDL' was mostly a creative type. But for now, I wasn't able to dig out its fullest potential.

After practicing while walking for a full day, night has arisen but I was still walking forwards as I wasn't tired and I wasn't hungry. To be honest, for a whole month I didn't eat anything not drank anything. Due to this, I could advance during day and night.

While I was walking, I heard a loud noise not too far away. It was a thunderous roar from a beast.

Once I heard the roar I took a detour as I didn't want to encounter the beast. Since the beast might be far stronger than the bear, it was better to take a detour than encounter the unknown for me.

Suddenly, I heard someone shouting. The person was crying for help. Since the voice was coming from where the roar came, it was rather obvious that the beast was attacking the person. So I decided to save the person. It wasn't out of pity nor heroic act. It was all because if I save the person he would lead me out of the forest.

On the other hand, a group of kids was engaging an enormous beast. The beast had pure white fur with black stripes as well as pair of golden pupils. The beast was around 2 meters tall on all four and around 5 meters in length.

The beast stared at the kids who were in front of them. All of the kids were bleeding as well as shivering from the terror they were facing.

Suddenly, the beast vanished from their sight. The kids were confused. But they didn't have time to think as the beast reappeared behind them and slapped one of the girls. The girl had platinum hair and snow-white skin. The girl shouted "[Ice wall]" and a wall made out of ice was formed between her and the limb of the tiger. But her wall was inefficient against the overwhelming might of the beast and shatter right after the limb came to contact with it. Right after the wall shatters, other girl jumped between the platinum-haired girl and the limb.

A few seconds later, both of the girls send flown to the nearest tree in the direction.

"Tasha!!! TASHAA!!!" The platinum-haired girl shouted to her friend. Tasha was the total opposite of the girl. She had pitch-black hair and tanned skin. Tasha had fainted but wasn't dead, fortunately.

While the girl was shouting, the beast was coming closer to them slowly. As the beast was walking to its prey, one of the boys attacked using his sword. He knew his attacks weren't powerful enough to hurt the beast but he did it to create time for the girls to escape.

*Swish Swish*

After being pestered by the boy, the beast finally shifted its attention to the boy. It once again vanished and reappeared behind the boy and attacked. Since the boy saw the beast this tactic, it was easy for him to dodge its attack. Enraged by missing the target, the beast quickly attacked with its other limb. The boy dodged once again making the beast even enraged. Due to anger and frustration, the beast began to barrage the boy with its mighty slaps.

The boy successfully dodged the first few attacks but soon he began to slow down due to exhaustion. And finally, the beast hit the pest. The boy got slapped from the left and flew to the right. The boy hit the tree on his back and fainted. On the other hand, the beast vanished and reappeared in front of the fainted boy. As soon as the beast appears, it raised its right limb readying to finish the boy off.

But the platinum-haired girl fired [Ice missile] to the beast and successfully shifted its attention from the boy. She was the only one standing. One of her teammates had died even before the white beast appears, one was flown by the beast and fainted as well as the last two.

The beast once again vanished.

This time girl knew it was either coming from behind or right side as it was its habit to attack with its right side first. Her intuition was right. The beast reappeared at her right side swung its right limb. The girl jumped forward and rolled few times and fired few ice missiles at the beast.

The beast once again vanished and reappeared at the left side of the girl.

The girl didn't thought it could change it's a habit in such a short period and got hit and got flown. Luckily girl had used [Ice armor] to protect herself. But it wasn't enough and she got hurt pretty hard.

The girl stood after getting flown trying to stand still. But she couldn't as her head was dizzy. She looked at the beast and fired a few missles but none of them hit the target. Soon she collapsed while the beast was slowly coming closer. The beast knew it had won.

The girl looked at the beast and used her last resort which was to shout for help.

"HELP!!!" The loud voice echoed. But no one came to save her as she knew.

Soon the beast was in front of her ready to finish her off. It raised its right limb and immediately swung it.

The girl closed her eyes accepting her destiny.

But the slap never came and the girl opened her eyes little by little, noticing the shield between her and the beast's limb. She sighed in relief, thanked god, and fainted on the spot.
