The Symbol

Hero; Superwarrior.

Real name; Haytham Miles.

Mundane job; Director of a museum.

Haytham softly landed at the window which led to his office.

He opened the window, and walked in.

Haytham covered his hero-suit underneath his normal suit.

Haytham now sat down at his desk, and got to work.

There was a knock at the door.

" Come in " said Haytham.

" Sir, the meeting is about to begin "

" Thank you " said Haytham with a smile; " I will be right there "

After the meeting, Haytham could be seen walking around the museum, while eating a corny. He likes the dark chocolate ones.

Haytham now spotted his nephew.

" Yusef! "

" Hey, uncle " said Shiny Dragon, as he was also in civilian-clothes.

" What brings you heather? " asked Haytham.

Yusef was quiet.

" What is wrong? "

" Just been feeling a bit down "

Haytham had a soft smile, as he handed his nephew a corny.

" Enjoy "

The two of them stood together, while enjoying their respective snack.

" Do you want to talk about it? " asked Haytham.

Yusef was quiet, as he gathered his thoughts.

" I have just been feeling so useless… "

" You have the power of creation. How could you ever feel useless? "

Yusef started to shake a bit.

" I… " he stammered; " I was not there when it counted… I was not there when Marduk attacked… when all of you were fighting for dear life - Yusef showed an ironic smile - even Arachne-Lad fought his damndest… "

Haytham placed a hand on Yusef's shoulder, before Yusef fell deeper into the pit.

" Listen, " said Haytham with a soft and welcoming voice; " don't you dare feel useless, nor say that you are useless. For while we were fighting, you used your powers to shield and protect the civilians. And by doing so, you ensured that we could fight without worries. So, on behalf of everyone - thank you, Yusef. Thank you "

Yusef could not hold back the tears.

" Damn " said he; " a hero should not cry… "

Haytham giggled.

" You are a hero, yes, but you are also an individual. An individual with emotions. So, by all means; let it all out "

Yusef let it all out, as Haytham held him together.

" Don't worry " said the symbol; " for I am here. "

Later that day.

Haytham went on a date-night with his own wife.

He and Sol later cuddled at Haytham's apartment.
