The Power

The group and I walked through the street. Kristina was in front of us with her friends. They giggled and laughed when they peaked back at us.

"Are you alright?" Vick asked. He walked next to me glaring at my face. Mike did so from the left. I nodded, "Yea, I'm doing great, why?" I could feel their breath in their lungs. It moved at a much slower pace.

"Well for starters, you threw a football a whole goddamn mile. Then later you ran that same mile in less than 5 minutes. THEN you come flying back into a wall and kickflip off of it. Are you doing this to impress Kristina?" Mike answered. I shook my head, "No, listen if I was trying to impress her I'd be doing stuff a lot more stupid. It's just.....ever since last night...I've been getting these weird feelings and a huge source of raw power."

Vick looked confused, "Sooooo, that match we had last night. Is that when it started?" I thought for a moment, "Yea, this all just happened, but it feels like it's always been a part of me." The two gave each other another weird glace before we got to the diner.

We walked inside and sat down. There were small groups of people talking and eating. I took out my wallet, "I'm buying. Everyone good with bacon burgers?" Kristina smirked at me, "It ain't a burger without bacon." I nodded and smiled.

Mike laughed and whispered, "She's perfect for you." I rolled my eyes, "I know. That's why I like her." The three of us chuckled and they went to take their seats.

I walked up to the counter where the cashier was waiting. "What'll it be?" She asked with a smile. "6 bacon burgers please. And we'll do a large basket of fries." She nodded and started typing on her cashier, "Ok, your total is...." "28.50" I finished her sentence. I looked down with a questioning face. Where did that come from? She giggled a little, "Well someone does fast math." I handed her the money and sat down.

The guys took of their jackets. I slipped off my jacket and placed on the chair. All 5 of them stared at huge surprise at me. I shrugged my shoulders, "What?" I then looked down at my arms, "HOLY..." They were huge. I mean they weren't like Captain America, but still huge.

"Dude I seriously have to figure out your workout program." Mike said in awe. I sat down still looking at my arms, "Yea, me too." Vick brushed his hand through his hair, "I guess that explains to an degree how you threw that football."

A waitress walked over with the food, "Enjoy guys." We all said our thanks. I held the burger in my hand. The smell of the meat swept up my nose. The tender bacon and melting cheese in between the two crisp buns made my mouth water. I bit into it and my mind went crazy. My eyes flickered like they did last night. The blue came on and off. My teeth sank into the burger. I felt something a little sharp, but I didn't really care.

"Axle, are you ok?" Amanda asked. I placed the burger down and rubbed my eyes, "Will you guys excuse me for a sec." I got up and went over to the bathroom.

I splashed water on my face and looked into the mirror. I moved my tongue around and felt that same sharp thing in my mouth. I spread my lips apart to see my K-9 teeth a little longer and sharper. That was interesting. I thought about another weird theory. I focused on myself in the mirror. The blue shade illuminated and I saw what my eyes looked like in the mirror. They turned a yellowish color. My pupils were narrow black diamonds. I opened my mouth again to see my sharp teeth. My breath started to increase. I was staring at a monster. I jumped back in horror and the blue shade disappeared. I crashed into the wall behind me and fell to the ground.

Vick walked in, "Hey man are you sure your ok? You look like you need help." I got up from the floor, "What makes you say that?" He raised an eyebrow, "You were sitting on the floor of the bathroom." I walked out and sighed, "Whatever happens in the bathroom stays in the bathroom."

We both sat down and finished eating our burgers. I still don't know what happened. Am I a monster or a super being? I just don't understand how or why I got this power. Super senses, super reflexes, super strength, super speed. What else? And what the hell is the super teeth for? Am I turning into a cat? This was all going way too fast. I stood up and grabbed my jacket, "Sorry everyone, but I gotta go."

"Ok, thanks for lunch." Kristina answered. I nodded. The others said their goodbyes and I left the building. I just need to get home and figure this out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Halfway home, I heard a loud clang of metal. The clanging continued. I looked around and nobody paid any mind. It must be my ears acting up again. Then the clanging stopped and I heard pieces of metal break. Something was wrong. I looked down in an alley. My eyes focused in a car making it glow gold/red. It was about 79 yards away. Someone next to it had a crowbar in his hand. He was breaking into the car. I should just be continuing on towards my apartment. It's New York. People's cars get stolen every day. Something stopped me from walking away. That thought stayed in my head. Am I a monster or a super being?

I made up my mind and walked over to the side of the alley. If I'm going to deal with this, I need to make sure he doesn't find out who I am. I pulled up my shirt to cover my face up to my nose and approached the thief, "You know, you could get a lot better car at the dealership." He spun around and laughed at me, "You? A kid? Give me a break. This doesn't concern you so why don't you run along and catch up with your studies." I rolled my eyes, "Oh so I won't end up like you? A lonely criminal?"

He grunted and I could tell he gripped the crowbar tighter, "You pulled the wrong tail today kid." He swung at me. I could tell exactly how much force was coming down at my skull. Considering the amount of strength he has and how tightly he was holding the crowbar. Including the bar's weight itself, I'd say about 23.64 pounds going at 71.3 miles per hour would leave me with a cracked skull and a traumatizing headache. To avoid this, I must grab his hand with a faster speed and snap it at an 86 degree angle. I noticed I did all that calculation in less than a second.

My hands quickly moved up to grab his wrist and I snapped it cleanly. He screamed in pain and swung around with his other hand throwing a punch. I quickly grabbed his fist and snapped it just like his other one. He screamed even more until I throw a punch directly at his throat. He gasped for air and fell to the ground. All that happened within 6 seconds.

I knelt down next to him, "Who are you? Why are you stealing this car?" He looked up at my face, "A new era is growing. This world order will fall and a new one will rise in it's place." I raised an eyebrow, "So Star Wars all over again? Ok, well we all know how that ended up. Good luck with your pathetic Empire. If it even exits."

I got up and started walking away. He laughed, "If you think I'm just a car thief, you are wrong. You will see a change in this world." I paused for a second, but then continued out of the alley. I got on the phone with the cops and explained what happened. What the hell did he mean by that. I felt good though that I did something with this gift. I'm not taking words from a car thief that an "All powerful Empire" is growing. There's probably hundreds of bad guy organizations. My problem right now is figuring out how the hell did I turn into this?
