I got out of the shower and put some jeans and a collard shirt on. What happened last night ran though my head again. The war rages on. So, a God gave me this power? Man, Aztec culture is crazy. But hey I get the powers of a super ninja cat so hell yea this is awesome. I still have one question though. How the hell am I gonna find this crocodile man? Walk around and asked 8 billion people if they have the spirit of the crocodile? Jacob also said that I must Master the abilities of the Aztec Jaguar Warriors. How am I gonna learn how to fight like an Aztec super commando in present day? The internet doesn't have all the answers. Maybe Jacob could become a force ghost like in Star Wars and teach me himself.
My phone buzzed and I picked it up. *U ready?* Kristina texted.
*Yep I'm on my way now* I responded and walked down the stairs.
"Be careful and have fun, Alex." I heard my parents say as I opened the door and walked out on the street. It wasn't that cold, but the wind blew the leaves off the trees. Tomorrow was Kristina's party so today was a great opportunity to hang out and get to know each other better.
I looked up to see a falcon flying above me. Its marvelous wings glided in the air. Then it did something I've always loved watching these birds do. It tucked in its wings and dove straight down towards the crowds of people. At the last second, the falcon pulled up and glided several feet above the people. Nobody paid any mind, but I looked up in aw as the monumental bird flew overhead. For a second I thought it looked directly at me. It's eyes could sense the power in me.
I arrived at Kristina's apartment building. I could see Mike sitting on his windowsill. Kristina walked out wearing white jeans and a cyan V neck shirt. "Hi." She said with a smile.
I smiled back, "Hey, you ready to get the wake up milk?" I looked up at Mike for a split second and he smacked his hand on his face shaking his head. Yep, I know that was a stupid joke.
Kristina laughed, "Yea, let's go."
"Have fun, you two." Mike laughed at us. I rolled my eyes at him and Kristina and I started walking down to the coffee house.
"So how have you been?" I asked.
She smiled again, "I'm good, thank you. Yesterday was a little weird. I had no idea you were a super athlete. How come you only play football and not any other sports?"
I took in a deep breath, "I don't know. Yesterday was weird for me too. I threw a football a freaking mile and run that think down and ran back within 7 minutes. What do you think about it?"
"Well, it certainly was impressive. If I'm being honest, I think that you have a gift that you could take advantage of." Kristina answered.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
She looked in my eyes, "I mean you should do more than just football. Mike told me that you have a lot of time on your hands. Maybe you could find more to do with your athleticism. It's just a thought." I took that into mind and nodded at her response. Since I do have a lot of time on my hands, I could use it to spend time learning Aztec fighting styles. But I don't want to spend my life fighting a war I didn't start. Jacob and Yogi started the war. Not me. I want to stop the crocodile from destroying the world, however he is going to do that, but I didn't choose to hunt him down. My life should be chosen by myself. There is something I would like to have that would fill in some of my time. I looked back at Kristina and continued to think about it.
We arrived at the coffee house and I opened the door for her. I walked in after her. Kristina found a seat and I paid for the coffee, then joined her.
"You know, last night I couldn't stop thinking about you. There was something not quite right in your mind. This is gonna sound crazy, but it was like I could sense it in you. What went through your mind last night?" She said as I sat down.
I took a moment to think, "Well, last night I had a dream. But I don't want to talk about it."
"Now, what if Martin Luther King said that?" Kristina laughed. I sighed and laughed with her as our coffee was handed to us.
"Well, this is gonna sound insane, but I had a dream where I met my ancestor." I replied. I didn't want to give too much away because I didn't want to get the spirit pissed off for any reason.
"I have dreams like that all the time. What did he say?" She asked.
I sighed again, "I've been given a lot of responsibility. And that I need to own up to who I am."
Kristina smiled and put her hand on my shoulder, "That was just your conscious telling you that you need to find out who you are. Who you truly are. From what I've seen yesterday I think you are truly an Olympic champion." We laughed again. She was right at some degree. Although I highly doubt that was my conscious telling me that.
"Well, those psychology classes look like they're paying off." I said grinning.
She giggled, "You know I take psychology?"
I nodded, "Yea, Mike likes to run his mouth about you a lot. Vick would always tell him to shut up or go talk to people who are interested, but I would listen to him. He says that you are the smartest person he's ever known and the most kind-hearted. He said that he would always be jealous when you brought home another trophy from gymnastics. From Mike's point of view I think you are amazing, but getting to sit here 3 feet away from the eyes that hold the universe tells me that you are so much more." She blushed hard from that statement. I could tell she was trying hide her increasing smile.
"Thank you." She finally replied and took another sip of coffee, "Mike has told me a lot about you too. How you finished at the top of our class in both History and Biology was incredible. And that you made the starting receiver on the Varsity football team on Sophomore year is outstanding. I hear you are even getting emails from colleges asking for interviews. Mike would sometimes talk about how open and how caring you are towards others who need help. You try to help anyone you can like that one time you stood up and defended Luke who was being harassed by Andy because he needed money to pay off a debt towards a gang. Aren't you afraid that the gang he was talking about will go after you?"
I smirked, "No not really. Those guys are just punks who would have to deal with the police if they ever come out of hiding." She laughed some more and placed her hand on my arm. I got a little tense.
"Is this ok?" She asked.
I nodded, "Yea, this is fine." We stared in each other's eyes for a while. "If you want, we could spend some more time together." I said.
Kristina smiled, "I would like that. How about the Zoo?"
"I would like that." I grinned and we walked out of the coffee house.
