3-1 Meeting

Date: August 30-31

Place: Kyoto Headquarters

[Rei]

"Sorry, you won't wake up so I had no choice but to use force. Is it another nightmare?" asked Yui sitting on the foot of my bed. She's wearing a fitted black long sleeve and pants with her hair tied in a bun. It's one of their combat suits.

"Our past seems to be haunting me. It's been a few days for now but everything that happened seems to be repeating itself in my dreams, " I said, finally sitting as I combed my hair with my hands.

"Where did it end this time?" she asked.

"When I touched the unOrdinary fluid that started all of this, " I answered

"Forget that. Why are you dressed like that?" I added, standing up and reaching for my suit too.

"The alarm rang minutes ago. We were in a hurry changing to our combat suit. Everyone left and went to the main lobby already and I saw you sound asleep. I was about to leave you until I saw you catching your breath and sweating. That's when I decided to wake you up, " she explained with a big smile, scratching her cheek with her fingertips, and stood up.

While she was explaining things, I finished changing to my outfit and just let my hair loose.

"Thanks. Although, isn't your leader going to be mad at you later? You should've just left me alone, " I asked her.

"Yeah, probably. But I'm curious of what will happen when I'm scolded by the 'all-mighty leader' of the Custodian Division," she answered sarcastically as we walk out of the room and heading over the main lobby.

Every time the alarm rings, it was always bad news. Whether it's a small issue or a big one, there will always be casualties. We lost lives in the past missions. We lost comrades, supplies, and opportunities to change this world back to what it is before. And I know for a fact that we will keep losing something valuable or not, shortly.

[Yui]

Walking side by side with Rei makes me satisfied. I always remember those days full of happiness when I'm with her. Those days when everything was normal.

I love the combat suit of the assault division. Especially, Rei's squad. Every squadron of every division can request clothing in their taste and if they are efficacy to them and their missions.

Rei is wearing her black hooded cloak, not long enough to make her trip and fall. Underneath it is a short, frilly, black skirt worn under an elegant but loose-fitting black coat, trimmed with gold stitching. an eloquent bow underneath the collar, and two dark brown leather belts, acting as a type of corset to keep the coat from moving out of place with several little badges on her right side collar from completing multiple missions successfully.

The best part is that she's wearing a skirt with pockets and knives hidden in it. It's the first time I knew that she particularly hated skirts but she can't do anything about their uniform especially because her cute little members asked her for it.

She is the commander of her own made 'Assault Division: Reapers'. It was just accepted a few days ago with members which are mostly kids and are ranging from ten to fourteen years olds.

There is a lot of Divisions that the current government has come up with.

First, the 'Assault Division' serves as the ones who attack the unOrdinary and ventures the current world that we once knew. Frankly speaking, this division has the most number of deaths. A lot of them were injured, slaughtered, or eaten. They do have the most difficult and dangerous missions of all.

Second, the 'Custodian Division'. Judging from the name, they defend or become backups for the Assult Division but only if it's necessary. They usually guard posts, patrol the perimeters, or a lot of boring stuff.

Lastly, the ' Support Division'. It contains various branches. For example, the doctors or pharmacist who discovers and creates cures for newfound illnesses, scientists who do experiments or research about the unOrdinary, chefs, janitors, and a lot more.

We might live in a twisted world but at least we know how to maintain our ground and make another system for us to operate with. It's going to take for all the people to change everything back to the way they were.

So far the Assault Division has five branches left. It used to be seventeen groups but a lot of them didn't make it back alive.

The first on the rankings are 'The Knights'. We usually just call them by numbers but they wanted a name to be remembered by. They have exceeded in their defenses and have the lowest death rates and are used for raiding purposes.

The second couldn't come up with anything so we just call them 'Assault Two'. They don't stand out that much but from what I heard, they are really strong and get almost all the top-tier missions.

The third is called 'Mist' I don't have any idea why but it has something to do with how they work. Maybe they work like spies. Sneaky and can't be easily seen.

The fourth one is 'The Chosen Ones'. Yes, their formerly departed leader wasn't thinking that the names will be this essential. He must have drunk a few bottles before submitting their name. They are strong, but they have the most death rates of all the assault divisions. And the next leadership was passed down to Kazuma for his excellent skills and leadership.

Last but not least, Rei's group the 'Reapers'. All of the tasks that had been given to them, was completed. People look down at them. Gossiping about how they keep surviving even if her members are children. You really can't judge a book by its cover.

We now arrive at the main lobby. I saw everyone already sitting in their designated sits and I feel Haru's looking in my direction with crossed arms and a death glare piercing into my soul.

"I should probably get going," I excused myself and waved at Rei as I walked to my team's section. And as I got closer, Haru gave me an intimidating smile and a signal to sit down and behave myself.

"I'll let you slide this time. Only if you gave me a proper reason why you're late later," says Haru without looking at me while he's focusing his sight in front, where several higher-ups are sitting at the tables on the stage. Someone walked through the middle of the stage, holding a microphone that made me just nod to what Haru said.

[Rei]

I went to my group who are already sitting properly, no one speaking neither looks at me. Like statues that have been positioned and ordered to follow strict directions, they stare at the front where the Third Lieutenant General clears his throat to test the microphone.

People inside this room became tense and quite scared but some were sleeping and staring into space. Every Division is in here waiting for the public announcement to be held but not everyone are seated some are just standing. We all vowed to bet our lives to restore our world and I assume that everyone here knows what this meeting is all about. Some report of the current missions along with the announcement of another S-class mission.

The highest ranking of all, the Supreme Commander Akashi sits in the middle of the stage along with the First Lieutenant General Pyonge on his right side and the Second Lieutenant General Tieffle on his left side.

"This is no ordinary mission" the Third Lieutenant General Guzman finally spoke as the projector on the side lits up showing us some pictures of what the outside of this facility looks like. Every slide shows streets swarming with unOrdinary, casualties of the buildings, and faces of dying soldiers.

"We received a call requesting for their planes to land here in Japan. But unfortunately, we received another call just minutes after their request reporting that the plane will crash," their conversation with the plane's pilot was displayed in the projector for all of us to hear. "I sent some search teams to find where it crashed and rescue some survivors if there were. But none of the groups I dispatched made it back," as those words came out of his mouth, I hear sobbing or intense crying around me. They must have some connection to those search team may be their friend, family, or lover, who knows. But that didn't make Lieutenant Guzman stop speaking.

"The search team reported that there are two planes that were located. One near the forest and another one near the sea," he said while lifting his arms and clicked a button on the remote that triggered the projector. It was a list of pictures of soldiers with their heartbeat and voice records beside them.

"No sighting so far"

"Captain, there's a person over here!"

"Are you sure it's a person?"

"Help me," I think it was the person who they were talking about. The howls of wind made the voice unrecognizable if it's a child or adult, a boy or a girl and I can barely hear it spoke.

"Where did you come from? Why are you here? Who are you?" they question the mysterious person and this time he shouted loud enough for his voice to echo in this room.

"I don't know! Help me!" he sounds desperate.

"They're after me" he whispers.

"Who is after you?" asks one of the soldiers.

"There's no time. You have to run," another mysterious tone as he whispers that was followed by a growl not far from where they stand. And before the soldier can ask another question.

"Run!" the boy shouted again as if he wasn't afraid of what's lurking just a few meters around him.

Then the shootings began. The guns go nonstop, screams of people wanting help, running footsteps and growls probably from multiple unOrdinary around the perimeter. Just listening to it feels like a nightmare. When I wandered my eyes around, people were silent, terrified, some holding their mouths or gripping what their hands can grab.

Lieutenant Guzman hits another button and another voice record is heard. But this time, instead of the gushing wind on the trees, I hear the waves of the sea. I can hear the way they complain about the foul smell and the ridiculous amount of bloody bodies lies beneath them.

"This is unbelievable!" shouts the soldier as she runs far away from the unOrdinary that appeared from nowhere. And the record ended with a crunchy bite of an unOrdinary to the soldier and her last shout that is full of pain and regret.

"We need to get to the bottom of this. We have to take action about this newly opened case to be one step to taking back our world." The public announcement is finished, people started to disappear from the main lobby, returning to their daily routine until it was just all the remaining Assault Division and several people on the Defence Divison who wants to go or are forced to go join this mission.

The Supreme Leader stood up as well as everyone to greet him with respect. He takes a step forward as the First Lieutenant's Assistant Pyfell, the Second Lieutenant's Assistant Xiqi and the Third Lieutenant's Assistant Ali were handling out files to captains of every group and a sheet of paper to the recruits before the Supreme Commander Akashi speak.

"There is a piece of additional information that wasn't announced to the public earlier. And that is There is another plane that crashed between the first two planes. And a cargo plane at that" surely, everyone was shocked at the news. There must be a lot of soldiers from abroad wandering their way around Japan right now or they could be dead too. I might not know why they are here but I can tell that It's going to be troublesome.

"For the recruits, those papers contain what group you'll be participating in. I welcome you aboard and hope that you last long," he says that made some people look at me when I snickered.

"While those files contain the things you are assigned to do, read it carefully and do as it says. That is all" he says dismissing the meeting.
