The Fifth Child

We find ourselves within The Potter's House, the abode of Deimos.

Deimos moved to Egypt years ago, where he settled down with a Flower of the Nile.

An Egyptian woman by the name of: Tiyi.

They loved each other much, and their love would eventually give birth to a child.

A girl by the name of: Shadya.

Deimos was busy working the potter's wheel; that was his profession, after all: making Greek vases for a living.

(It ain't much, but it's honest work.)

" Papo! "

Shadya landed on Deimos' lap.

Deimos had to make sure that his work did not fall on the ground.

" Nefertum! - Deimos' nickname for Shadya - how many times have I told you to be careful! "

Shadya did not listen, she simply climbed into Deimos' embrace.

Deimos laughed heartily.

He then picked up his daughter, and the two of them enjoyed a lasting hug.

There was a knock on the door.

" Papo, are you expecting visitors? "

Deimos was quiet as he looked upon the door.

" Maybe it is Aegyptus? "

" I doubt it… "

" Danaus? "

Deimos shook his head.

" Then it must be Heqanakht! "

" I already paid him this month, so it couldn't be… "

The knocking intensified.

Deimos uttered something in Greek.

" Shadya. "

" Papo? "

Deimos picked up Shadya and went downstairs, where he kept all his pottery.

" I want you to stay down here, and only come up if I or your mother call for you. "

" Papo, " Shadya took hold of Deimos' large hand with her two small ones; " I am scared… "

Deimos put her hands in his, and said gently:

" Everything will be alright. " he promised; " Papo got this. "

Shadya's face lit up with a hopeful smile.

He handed her King Tut's Dagger.

" Just in case. "

Shadya took to the weapon as if it was an extra limb.

Deimos kissed her on the forehead, and saw that Wepwawet, whose Ren was: Khentamentiu, was standing behind Shadya, invisible, ready to lay down his life for her.

Deimos nodded at him, he then went back up the stairs, whereupon he took a deep breath.

He removed a log from the ceiling.

Deimos took out a long object covered in cloth, a breastplate, and two shining whips.

Deimos donned Inaros' Breastplate.

He wrapped the Nemesis Whip around his arms.

He then unwrapped the piece of cloth, revealing: Horus' Harpoon: Hapy, who can summon forth the powers of Mehet-Weret, and with Hapy's epithet: Lord of the Fishes and Birds of the marshes, Deimos can use the Harpoon to command the birds and fishes.

Horus' Lasso: Kem-Atef, which can transform into the Serpent King from the Shipwrecked Sailor's story, was wrapped to the end of Hapy.

" I am with you. " said Deimos' Ka: Harmachis, also known as: Horus the Elder, whose Ren was: Montu.

Deimos felt as ready as he could ever be.

He opened the door.

" Ah! " said a demonic figure; " the Hellen. "

The demon sized Deimos up.

" We thought that you would be bigger. " the demon then smiled; " but you are definitely the one. "

Before Deimos stood the forty-two demon-gods.

Savage-faced, Fiery-one, and Dark-one, to name a few.

" What do you all want? "

" You. " said Flint-eyed; " Ra wants justice for Seth's murder. "

" I did what I had to. "

" Likewise. "

The Forty-two stepped closer.

Deimos tightened his grip on Hapy.

" Malaka. "

The Forty-two charged, and they were quickly dealt with.

Deimos sent them all to the Duat to be judged by the Lord of the Duat.

The World-Encircler

" Papo, where are we heading? "

" Heliopolis. "

" The Sun God's domain! "

Shadya could not keep in her joy, as she started to dance about.

Deimos had not the heart to tell her: why they were heading towards the City of the Sun.

He thought it best to omit that information for now.

" If only Tiyi was here… "

(Tiyi, being a Medjay, stood guard over the Pharaoh.)

" We got this. "

Montu's confidence sometimes annoyed Deimos.

" My daughter is tagging along. I have to keep her safe. "

" You could have left her behind. "

" And let her face that danger alone?! "

" Let her stay with Wenamun. "

" He would merely be caught in the crossfire - and that guy has suffered more than enough. "

Montu was quiet.

" Nothing to say? "

(This was truly: a conversation between a Man and his Ba.)

Horus the Elder then responded with:

" Kill Ra. "

Deimos threw Hapy across the desert, giving into that famous Spartan Rage.

" Killing a god… how can you say that so nonchalantly…? "

" Papo? "

Deimos patted her on the head.

" It is nothing, Nefertum; just venting some steam. "

Deimos did as Isis, when she accidently caught her son with the harpoon(when he and Seth were both hippopotami) and called the harpoon back.

A few seconds went by, as nothing happened.

" I don't understand… " said Deimos, confused; " it always returns when I want it to… "

The whole desert shook.

Deimos and Shadya both fell on their asses, as a purple leviathan-like-snake came bursting forth from the ground.

" What is this… " said Deimos in awe and fear, as the serpent was blocking the sun.

Shadya recognized the beast, and said:

" The World-Encircler… "

Apep spat Hapy back to Deimos.

Deimos took hold of the harpoon and quickly positioned himself in front of Shadya.

" Stay calm, Shadya! " exclaimed Deimos, panicking himself.

" I am! This is great!! "

Apep proceeded to speak in Ancient Egyptian.

" What does it say? "

" He says: that he wants to help… "

Nightmare

Apep suggested: if they were going to have any chance of defeating Ra: they might as well get their hands on the Book of Thoth, which would probably, hopefully, increase their chances greatly.

Deimos and Shadya found themselves at the Valley of Kings, standing at the entrance to Prince Nefrekeptah's tomb.

" Stay here. "

" Why?! "

Deimos did not answer her, he merely looked up at Apep, who nodded: I will protect her.

Deimos went inside, as Shadya stomped her foot in frustration.

Deimos beheld the spacious tomb.

He saw the remnants of Setna's visit.

Deimos stood before Prince Nefrekeptah's sarcophagus.

" Are you sure about this? " asked Montu.

" Do you have any better ideas? "

" Kill Ra. "

" The book it is. "

Deimos removed the lead.

He then looked upon the ancient book; wrapped in Nefrekeptah's embrace.

Deimos picked it up, and beheld it with great awe.

Light started emanating from the book.

Deimos had to cover his eyes.

As the light disappeared, he heard someone say:

" Are you that stupid? "

Deimos turned around to look upon Ra himself.

" This is where it ends. " said Deimos, holding up the book.

Ra smiled, he then snapped his fingers, burning the Book of Thoth to ash.

" Any other bright ideas? "

Deimos heard Montu's words deep within.

He lounged at Ra with all his might.

Ra must have thought too highly of himself, for Deimos was able to rain down blow after blow.

" This is going too easy… " said Montu, but his words were being overshadowed by the sound of Deimos breaking Ra's skull.

" Papo! " cried Shadya from behind.

Shadya stepped in front of Deimos.

" He is not a thre- "

Too much blood had clouded Deimos' vision, hence why he did not see where his next blow landed.

The crack reverberated throughout the hall, as the tomb welcomed a new resident, for when Deimos rubbed away all the blood, and beheld the apple of his eye laying there - lifeless, he shattered into a billion pieces.

Deimos fell to his knees, sobbing uncontrollably, cradling his very reason for breathing.

" Papo? "

Deimos turned around to see Shadya alive and well.

Words utterly failed him.

He simply took Shadya within his embrace.

" Papo? "

Deimos still couldn't conjure up any words.

That was when he noticed the Book of Thoth, completely intact, by the corner.

" It seems that you received the same punishment as Setna: when he stole the book. " said Montu.

Deimos was still quiet, simply thankful that it had all been a nightmare.

Down the River and Memory-Lane

Deimos and Shadya were sailing down the Nile, hoping that it would be a faster way towards Heliopolis.

The splendors, which the Gift of the Nile had to offer: were all around them to be visibly enjoyed.

" Papo? "

" Hm? "

" Tell a story. "

" Queen Serpot and the Land of Khor? "

" I know that one already. "

" Hm… "

Shadya beheld The Colossai of Memnon in the distance.

Shadya thought for a moment, and then said:

" How about a story from your homeland, Papo? "

Deimos looked at her quietly.

" Hmm… There is really not much to say. "

" There is a lot. " said Montu.

" Quiet! "

" Papo? "

Deimos cleared his throat.

He was hoping that Shadya would lose interest, but he could see the look in her eyes… She was determined.

He sighed.

" Very well… "

" Yes! "

Deimos rowed gently, as he began:

" It is near Lemnos: where our story begins- "

" Not in Sparta? "

" Don't interrupt me. "

" Sorry. "

" There were two brothers: one was a natural born leader, and the other… Well. The only unique thing about him was: that he had a strange birthmark, which ran around his arm, and all the way to his eye. "

Shadya noticed Deimos' strange birthmark.

" One of his eyes was also completely white. "

Shadya too noticed that her father had one completely white eye.

" The elder brother had everything going for him. He was charismatic. Knew how to lead. And most importantly: he knew how to fight. "

Deimos smiled.

" The younger brother was the complete opposite. He was awkward. He could barely lead his own life. And most disappointedly: he couldn't even fight. "

Deimos sighed.

" The people always made fun of him, they would even pick on the younger brother. That was when the elder brother would step in: protecting his younger sibling. The elder never looked down on the younger. He loved his younger brother very much. "

Shadya noticed Deimos' eyes grow nostalgic.

" The two of them grew inseparable. They would do everything together. Laugh. Cry. Sweat and train. "

Deimos looked up towards the sky, reliving it all.

" Then. When they both became adults, the elder brother got married and had one daughter. The younger: decided to strike out on his own. So when Amenhotep the Third's delegation came to Mycenae. He hopped on the boat back to Egypt, never looking back. "

" What happened to him in the end? "

Deimos smiled.

" He settled down. Got married, and then had one daughter as well. "

Shadya smiled, having pieced it together.

" What happened to the elder brother? "

Deimos grew solemn.

" He died… "

" Papo… "

The boat had made shore, and before them stood:

Heliopolis.

The Sun Sets

They stood before the splendid gates.

Deimos and Shadya made their way through the decorated halls.

Till, at last, they stood before the magnificent throne.

Seated atop the throne was the King of the Gods himself: Ra, who very much resembled Smite's Ra.

" So, you have come at last. "

Deimos stepped in front, so that Shadya was behind him.

" I have come in the hopes of ending this peacefully. "

Ra tapped his beak.

" How did it feel killing your own brother? "

" How did it feel getting poisoned by Isis? " said Montu.

Ra thightened his jaw, as Deimos simply face-palmed.

" It seems like: my family is out to get me. "

Ra rose.

" Best to take them out first. "

Deimos quickly pushed Shadya aside, as Ra fired off his ultimate.

Deimos blocked the blow with his shield, but the force of the impact sent him flying out of the palace.

Ra appeared in the sky, firing off his: Solar Blessing.

Inaros' Breastplate absorbed most of the damage, but the poor ground had no such luxury.

Deimos jumped out of the way, Ra's Celestial Beam passing him by.

He slung his Nemesis Whip, coming face-to-face with Ra.

That was when Ra's Divine Light went off, blinding Deimos.

Ra brought down blow after blow, till Deimos finally regained his sight.

Back and forth the two of them went - the earth suffering greatly from their clash.

" Papo! "

Ra howled in pain as Shadya's arrow pierced his side.

Deimos rushed to her, whilst Ra was charging up his: Searing Pain.

The ult went off; sending Shadya and Deimos flying for miles.

Deimos groaned greatly, most of his body ailing from burn-marks.

" Shadya! "

He picked her up gently.

" Papo… "

Deimos knew that they had to get out of there.

" Not so fast. " said Ra, floating before them; " you still need to pay. "

" For what?! " roared Deimos; " Seth was a bad guy! "

" It's not that simply. " said Ra, calmly; " his morals were dubious, true, but he never slited me… unlike certain great-grandchildren of mine. "

Both Deimos and Montu were quiet.

" You robbed me of my greatest champion… and for that… "

Ra began charging up his ult.

" Burn. "

Deimos saw no way out.

He simply shielded Shadya with his body.

Montu was about to intervene, that was when Shadya said:

" Don't worry. I will ask for help. "

Shadya proceeded to speak Ancient Egyptian.

The whole desert shook as a result.

Before Deimos could ask her: what she had done.

Apep came bursting out from the desert, devouring Ra in one gulp.

" Well done, girl! "

Deimos picked up Shadya, and ran to safety, as

Shadya saw several sun beams coming out of Apep.

Apep smiled and nodded towards her. His upper half then blew up, revealing a rather pissed off Ra, who looked: 110% done!

Deimos dropped his lasso on the ground, which promptly transformed into Kem-Atef.

" Snakes… why did it have to be snakes… "

(Ra just about had had enough of all these motherfucking snakes!)

Kem-Atef tried to eat Ra, but the sun-god evaded him easily.

Ra was gaining on Deimos.

" Papo. "

Deimos looked at Shadya.

" Together. "

Deimos couldn't help but say:

" I love her so much. "

He threw Shadya into the air, as Ra was reaching for Deimos.

Shadya shot two arrows, one embedded itself in his hand - the one reaching for Deimos, and the other in his back.

Deimos turned around, wrapping Ra in his Nemesis Whip.

But it still wasn't enough, as Ra shot into the air.

After having safely put Shadya back on the ground.

Kem-Atef transformed back into a lasso, wrapping itself around Hapy.

Deimos threw the harpoon, which found its home in Ra's abdomen.

That finally brought the Sun-God down.

Ra was gasping for air.

Deimos wanted to finish the job.

Shadya grabbed his hand.

" Papa. Not a threat. "

Deimos agreed, but as insurance: he wanted Ra's Ren, which Ra gave.

Afterwards: the gang traveled to where Seth's corpse was being kept.

Ra stood over his greatest champion.

He couldn't help but shed a tear, which landed on Seth's chest.

Ra fell to his knees.

He then felt a hand on his shoulder.

" Leave me. " said Ra, thinking that it was Deimos.

" Papo. "

Ra looked up and beheld a alive-and-well Seth, for in some myth: Ra's tears held life-giving powers.

Deimos and Shadya were finally able to return home, where they were greeted by a worried Tiyi, decked out in her Medjay gear, wearing a Ahhotep-like-necklace, and the medal: 'Gold of Honor', and whose Ka is Hathor/Sekhmet.

Deimos got an earful, and promised: if he ever went on such an adventure again: Tiyi would be the first to know.

Khun-Anup and Bata both came for a visit, and like the sun in the horizon, this story too was setting.
