The uncle pushed Allen down into the gate of the abyss as he slowly stepped back and realized that the gate was slowly disappearing along with Allen Carter and the hellspawns. Uncle Arnold plan worked magnificently, he was able to prevent the loss of any valuable hunters, in exchange for a measly kids life. He felt proud of himself that he prevented such a forsaken tragedy to happen.
Everybody soon regained their consciousness as they looked around seeing the gate had disappeared along with the hellspawns Everybody was confused as there was no way anybody on this room had the firepower to destroy a abyss gate along with hellspawns.
They went and check up on each other and realized that one of the member, Allen Carter was missing. People started talking among themselves for where had the kid disappeared to? And how did the abyss gate disappeared so suddenly?
Felix thought where was Allen when it happened and realized that Arnold was with him the whole time.
"Arnold.. you didn't do-that to the poor child right-?" the squad leader ask with his voice shaking.
Arnold kept quiet and leaned back on the dungeon walls. "He saved 9 lives while sacrificing his. Wasn't that worth it?" he said and kept quiet for a while as he cackled in excitement. 'I can't believe the myth of pushing someone into the abyss gate worked..'
"You've..gone insane Arnold.. What the hell is wrong with you.!" the squad leader screamed as he stepped back in disgust.
"If you ever report this incident to the management centre than my family would come after you." Arnold smiled and looked at everyone,"you wouldn't want that to happened now,do you? Whose with me?"
6 people raised their hands and agreed with Arnold as they swored on their life they wouldn't reveal what truly happened in the dungeon today. They've got nothing to lose from it, however if they do report it as a murder case, Arnold's influential family would be coming after their throats.
Felix and another squad member watch as the members lose their sense of honesty in a flick of an eye as the kept quiet and silently agreed with Arnold.
"Atleast we gain more money from the queen ant artifact when one of the member is gone." Arnold remarked as he stared at the two member who was obviously reluctant to agree with him.
"It's not like they're going to believe 2 people over 7 are they?" Arnold said, brimming with confidence.
They all walked out of the dungeon saved and sound while two members dragged their feet behind, after seeing the revolting sight they witnessed before their eyes.
Throwing a young kid into the abyss was truly cruel, having no mercy for such a frail kid.
Felix body started shaking in anger but he know that if he were to speak up, he needed more connections so that he would gain the upper hand. If he speaked up now,all he'll earn himself is embarrassment.
'I'm sorry..kiddo, I'll avenge you one day I swear'
Felix thought, determined to get revenge for the kid who lost his life at such an early age. Felix didn't understand why people didn't disagree with Arnold's request. Instead they agreed to it with no shame. Arnold family might come after you but where is the justice for the small child that just happened to get caught up in this mess.
The squad reported the incident to the Adventurers Management Centre and declared that an abyss gate spawned at the Queen Ant Room and resulted in the loss of Allen Carter.
...
After getting all the squad members proposal of what happened they decided to make a visit to the Orphanage and reported the loss of Allen in an unexpected dungeon accident a few days later.
"Sir.. repeat that again?" The orphanage director asked in shock, not believing what she heard with her own two ears.
"An abyss gate appeared in a dungeon, a monster dragged Allen in and it closed. 9 people had given their proposals like this." the management replied as they handed a book to the orphanage head. The book was a booster artifact that Allen used often when going on dungeon raids.
The orphanage director took the book with shaking hands as she quickly grabbed the book and hugged it tightly, falling onto her knees in dismay.
'I shouldn't have let you go.. It's all my fault..it's my fault..it's my fault.' negatives thoughts filling her head as she finally collapsed infront of the door.
