Chapter 3: The Visitors

In the same city where mysterious vampire attacks occur and being solved unknowingly, there lies several streets not too far away from each other. And in one of these streets, a simple and small house can be found. It's not that fancy nor some big time house, it's plain yet there lives a one happy family.

"Aunt Rin! Uncle Damien!" A girl from around four or five cheerfully greeted the two vampires as soon as she opens the door.

"Oh Trisha! How are you, sweety?" Rin squealed as she saw the adorable girl in front of her while wearing those two pink ribbons tied on her hair.

She rubbed her cheeks to her as she hugged the girl so tight.

"Rin, you might squish her." Damien reminded.

"Oopsie! My bad." She chuckled and let the girl go.

"It's nice to see you two visited us once again." Trevor came together with Ran as she was carrying a small boy around two in her arms.

"It's our day-off so we decided to spend the day with all of you." Damien smiled.

"Oh my! Is that you, Renzo!?" Rin squealed soon as she saw her nephew in her twin sister's arms.

"You look so small the last time I saw you. Now you've become bigger!"

The boy just blinked while staring at her. He didn't speak that much nor faze when he saw them. It was like this boy is the male version of her sister, Ran, the boy's mother.

"You two must be hungry. I should go and prepare the dinner now." Ran said with her usual stoic expression. What's change is that her hairstyle has now in pixie cut.

"Oh, let me help you, big sister!" Rin insisted.

With that, Ran handed the boy to his father before she went to the kitchen.

And that leaves the two men in the living room. Just then, Damien felt someone pulling the hem of his coat. When he looked down, it was Trisha.

"Hey Uncle, I want to play! It's been so long since you last visited us." She stared at him with her big rounded puppy eyes. And Damien can't even resist the cuteness. Or it would make this adorable girl feel bad.

"Alright, what shall we play?"

The girl grinned, "Catch ball!" She exclaimed and pulled him outside, going towards their yard.

It's a game where Damien introduced where he usually throws the ball in such speed and strength. Trisha's task is to catch that ball with all she got. It's a way to practice her skills as a half-vampire.

"I won't loose this time! I've practice a lot!" Said Trisha who's more eager to win.

They've been playing this game for years. And not even once the girl won against this vampire gentleman having a teasing smirk on his lips.

"We'll see about that." Damien grinned and started to throw the ball.

The girl ran fast and jumped to catch the ball. She stretched her short arms and managed to grasp the ball on her little hand.

"Nice catch!" Damien clapped his hands.

"My turn!" The girl threw the ball this time with all her might.

Damien effortlessly caught the ball on his palm.

Then, he threw it once again and Trisha managed to catch it.

"Uncle Damien, you're not taking me seriously!" The girl pouted.

"Oh? Shall we go to the next level already?"

"Yeah!" Trisha raised her arms in the air and it was as if she's burning in determination.

Trevor chuckled, "She's eager to show you how she practiced so much."

"Alright, then..." Damien scoffed, "I shall be serious now." He seriously said and threw the ball once again. But this time, it was stronger and way faster than before.

Trisha didn't take her eyes off of the ball as she ran and ran, then jumped higher but fails to get the ball. Quickly, Damien rushed to catch her as she falls from the high jump.

"Shall we take a break then?" He chuckled.

The girl pouted at her loss. She thought she could beat him this time.

Damien carried her as they take a seat on the bench together with her father and brother.

"Good work!" Trevor smiled.

"But I didn't win." Trisha pouted, and it was pretty obvious that she looks exactly like her dad when he pouted as well.

"It's not always about winning when it comes on competitions. It's about learning." He smiled, "What did you learn while playing with your uncle? Where did you lack? What did you realize? In that way, you'll be able to beat him next time."

Trisha blinked as she pondered on her father's words.

Just then, Renzo, her little brother, stretched his short arms and tap the ball on her hands.

"Pway... ball..." He mumbled as he gazed at his sister.

Trevor chuckled, "Looks like your brother got inspired and wanted to learn from his sister."

Trisha's face brightened up, "Let's go, Renzo! I'll teach you how it's done!" She giggled and pulled her brother to the yard.

Meanwhile, the sisters are working together at the kitchen while the two men are playing with the children on the yard. Ran was taking care of the soup while Rin was chopping the ingredients needed.

"How was the young master?" Ran began to ask.

"He's doing great. He has grown into a fine vampire, defending and guarding the town from evil vampires. He's working real hard every night to maintain peace and balance between the two worlds." Rin cheerfully narrated with a big smile on her lips.

But that smile slowly faded and shifted to a gloomy one, "But... these past few days, he's overworking himself that he nearly collapsed."

"What?" Ran glanced at her soon as she heard the news, "Why did you leave him be?"

"We don't want to, really... But the young master insists that we go and have a day-off. I'm really worried for him now that he can't drink a single drop of human blood." Rin heaved a sigh.

"That's really a problem..." Ran mumbled, "Do you want me to ask my husband for some of his blood?"

Rin almost cut herself, "What?! No! I mean... that would be great but... I don't think the young master would be happy if he finds out. Besides, you're already drinking his blood. It would be a trouble if his health gets affected."

"Right, sorry about that. I'm just worried for the young master." Ran sighed.

Rin gently patted her shoulder, "Don't worry, sister. Damien and I will figure something out. Leave it to us!" She winked.

Ran smiled knowing she'll keep her word.

"Speaking of, how about you?" She asked.

Rin beamed, "I'm good! I learned how to cook, thanks to Damien!"

"I see, what else? How are things with you and Damien?"

Rin blinked, "Damien? Hmm... We're good! We got along very well. He's in charge of cleaning while I'm on cooking and buying goods. He does help me a lot!"

Ran furrowed her brows, "I... see... Anything else? Do you see anything else on Damien?"

"Why do you ask? You seem weird today, sister."

"I-I'm just curious..."

Rin giggled, "Damien and I are just good friends. He's like a brother to me."

"I see..."

Ran sighed upon hearing her response.

'I thought there's something going on between them now. Looks like it's going to be a long long way for them.'

"You've become such a great dad." Damien complimented as they watched the kids play.

"Am I? I'm just telling them what I think was best." Trevor chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head.

"That means you're a good parent, thinking nothing but the sake of your children." Damien smiled, wondering how nice it must've been to have a family like this. He has never experienced it after all. His father figure, Professor Wilson, died because of him. Maybe having a wonderful family would be impossible for him.

"Say..." Trevor said, "How are you these past few years? How are things with you and miss Rin?" He gave him a meaningful look.

Damien blinked, "I'm good but, I don't understand what does Rin has something to do with this?"

Trevor shrugged, "Oh nothin', I'm just curious..."

"Hmm... Rin is..."

"Yes?" Trevor expectantly glanced at him.

"Rin is a good friend of mine. Also, I treat her as my sister. She's sweet and cheerful. Such an interesting vampire."

"I-is that so?" Trevor sighed in disappointment.

'Looks like these two has a long way to go.' He said to himself.

Just then, his phone suddenly vibrated on his pocket. Trevor immediately picked it up soon as he saw the name of his caller.

"Yes Rae, what can I do for you?"

Damien glanced at the man when he heard the young master's name.

"23rd Camelia Street, Eclipse bar? Yeah, I got it. I'm on my way now..." He hung up after that.

Then Trevor glanced at Damien, "Sorry, I got some work to do. Would you mind?" He glanced at the kids playing.

Damien nodded, "Sure."

Trevor quickly took his coat, license, and gun. After that, he placed a rotating beacon strobe light at the top of his car's roof, flashing its blue and red light. He grabbed his communicator device.

"23rd Camelia Street, Eclipse bar... 23rd Camelia Street, Eclipse bar... I need back up on that place." He said before he drove the car away.

'That must be urgent...' Damien thought as he watched the car left.

Just then, he felt his coat getting pulled by Trisha.

"Uncle Damien! Let's have another round!" She exclaimed.

"Already? But you should rest now."

The girl shook her head, "No! Not that I finally know how to win!"

"Eh?" A smirk slowly drawn on his lips, "Interesting. Fine, I shall accept your challenge."

"I'll beat you this time, uncle!" She said with those eyes full of determination, "Throw the ball like how you did earlier."

"Alright, I won't hold back!" Damien raised his arm and swung it as hard as he could, throwing the ball in such speed.

Instead of chasing her target, Trisha ran towards the tree and stomped her feet, using it as a ladder as she pressed her feet harder before she made a jump. The impact of her jump makes it higher and her speed increased as she caught the ball in her hands. But then, she has stepped out of their yard and landed a bit far away from their house. She hit her head on something sturdy that made her fall on the ground.

Gently caressing her head and butt which are both in pain, she slowly looked at the huge man in front of her. He has a big body built and the way he glares at her with those gleaming red eyes made this girl trembled in fear.

"Hybrid..." He mumbled in a low voice.

"Oh hello there, sweetheart!" A woman came out behind the huge man with a cunning smile.

"Sorry if my friend here scared you. Slade doesn't really mean it. He just wants to be friends. What can you say?" The woman reached her hand towards Trisha as she smiled.

Still trembling, the girl shook her head and shoved the woman's hand.

"N-no!" She ran even her legs are feeling weak.

The way she slapped her hand, the woman's smile suddenly fades, "What an impudent little girl..."

All of a sudden, Slade appeared in front of Trisha.

"You should've accepted my offer, kid. Now you'll pay for it." The woman grinned devilishly.

"Must kill... the hybrids..." Slade mumbled as he raised his giant arm.

Afraid of what might happen, Trisha closed her eyes. And suddenly, she felt a strong force pulling her away before Slade's arm landed on the ground. A strong impact came enough to tear the road in half.

"Two against a helpless kid? Seriously, how could you vampires stoop this low?" Damien snickered as he was grabbing Trisha in his arms.

"Uncle Damien..." Tears stream down her eyes.

"Are you hurt?"

The girl shook her head as she cried in his arms.

"What's going on in here?!" Rin and Ran came and saw two vampires before them.

One is a huge male vampire with a big body built and those bulky muscles. His long hair is tied up in low pony tail and there's a red mark on the left side of his arm.

The female vampire, with her curly brown hair and tanned skin, she's wearing a tube that shows her tummy with a red mark as well.

If they'll get a closer look, this red mark looks like a symbol of a skull.

"Give... those hybrids... to us!" Slade mumbled before he rushed towards Damien and Trisha.

Quickly, Damien handed the girl to her mother as he placed his hand on the cemented road. All of a sudden, the road shook and moved like a wave, tossing the two vampires away.

"Tch! What an annoying power!" Said the woman as she jumped and suddenly turned into a cheetah to attack Damien.

"Oh no, you don't!" Rin stepped forward and commanded the trees to move and throw her aside.

"How dare you!" She then shifted from cheetah to snake and crawled on the trees until she reached Rin's side. And then, she turned into an elephant and used her trunk to swept Rin's body as hard as she could that she hit on the ground.

"Die!" The woman jumped and turned into a gorilla and was ready to slumped her body at Rin when she suddenly used the help of the grasses and vines that tied her up in mid air.

"What the--!?"

"Never underestimate the plants!" Rin winked and grinned proudly.

On the other hand, Slade swings his huge arms as Damien continued to dodge them spontaneously. But what's troubling is that the attack coming from his arms can actually chop anything in half. If he's not careful enough, he might be in pieces by now.

"Don't... avoid meeee!" Slade quickly turned and rushed in front of him and swings his arm.

Damien quickly used his hands to block his attack but it ended up bleeding as he was preventing him to actually slice his body in half.

'I have... to draw him away!'

Just then, Slade used his other arm and was about to stab Damien when he used his legs and stepped on Slade's arm to kick his face. Now that he's distracted, Damien took the opportunity as he grabbed him and threw him upside-down.

"Take this!" There's a strong impact as he buried Slade's head on the ground.

But of course, it's not enough to bring him down. Slade, who's now in rage, got up and charged towards Damien.

"I believe it's time for you to go home, pal." He smirked and all of a sudden, Slade's body moved on its own, dragging him away from Damien.

No matter how hard he struggled, he can't fight the force that's been pulling him away.

"What did you do to Slade?!" The woman asked who's still entangled with the vines.

"Oh, I just asked his clothes to take him home. Since I've already touched his possession, I now have the control over it." Damien replied with a victorious smirk.

"Now, it's time for you to answer our questions this time." Rin said.

"Hmph! As if!" Suddenly, the woman turned into a bunch of bats and flew away in the night sky.

"Ugh! She got away!"

"That's fine, as long as the Meyers are safe." Damien said and stopped Rin from following the woman.

"Thank you." Ran said as she carried her children in her arms.

"Who are those vampires anyway? Why did they attack us?" Rin frowned.

"We still don't know. But whoever they are, we must report this to young master when we get back."

Rin nodded, "Right. I agree."

And while this was happening, Trevor and the other policemen came in the said place and found the missing bodies of the citizens who were reported to them few weeks ago. When they arrived, the place was in tattered. There are shards of red crystals on the floor and at the basement, the bodies of these humans were found lying on bed as their blood were forcefully taken away. The machine's already destroyed and fortunately, these humans were still alive. With that, they quickly called an ambulance and took them to the hospital.

"And another case was solved! Thanks to Officer Meyer!" The policemen praised.

But deep inside, Trevor knows the truth. All the credits doesn't belong to him. But of course, he can't tell them it was Rae who saved these humans. They wouldn't believe him that a vampire came to save their kind. How unfortunate, isn't it?

But unknown to these humans, at the top of the building in front of the Eclipse bar, a group of vampires were lurking and looking down at them.

"Boss, why aren't we attacking? We can easily take these humans down." Asked one of them.

"No... the Vampire King is not here... He's the only one we're after." Said the boss with his deep low voice.

"My brother called for help, before I came, I felt his presence fading away."

"Wait! Does that mean your brother's.." This vampire didn't even dare to finish his sentence when their boss suddenly glared at them.

"Wherever he is, I swear... That vampire brat will pay for what he did to my brother!" He clenched his fist as his red eyes burned in rage.

Meanwhile, after their defeat with Damien and Rin, these two vampires were forced to come back to their hideout. It was an abandoned building located elsewhere and unknown to others.

"Why such a long face, Amaya?" A vampire wearing a black hood asked soon as they went inside.

"We're... defeated..." Slade mumbled and looked down.

"F-forgive us, Master Vulpine! We failed to kill those two young hybrids..." Amaya can't even look him in the eyes.

Upon hearing this, the others laughed at them.

"What? You guys were defeated?"

"My! How weak you've become, Amaya!"

"Shut up!" Amaya exclaimed and glared at them.

Then, the vampire in hood raised his hand and everyone stopped from laughing and murmuring.

"May I know why you two failed?" He asked in a gentle voice.

"Two... vampires..."

"There are two vampires who get in our way. One of them is a Tepes, I'm sure of it."

Upon hearing what Amaya said, the others murmured once again.

"A Tepes, eh?" The vampire called Vulpine snickered when he heard the name.

"This is something interesting, Amaya! Well done!"

The woman held her head up with a confused expression, "Y-you're not going to punish us?"

Vulpine chuckled, "Why would I? You have given me a vital information. Now that we know that one of the Tepes is here, that only means he's next to the so-called Vampire King, don't you think?"

The other vampires mumbled as they agreed.

"Hence! We must rejoice and prepare for this night!" Vulpine exclaimed, "After all, we're one step closer to him, the young Vampire King."

The other vampires shouted as if they are already claiming victory upon this news. The mark of the red skull glowed on their bodies as well as their scarlet red eyes, with hope in their hearts for the doom of the so-called Vampire King.
