Chapter 39: Ambush

The huge field in the west border of the Van Helsing territory was filled with freshly grown crops in vines. Its leaves are in bright green, smooth, and has the aroma of a sweet fine wine fermented meticulously over time.

Farmers gathered as they excitedly brought their baskets for this awaited moment, the harvest time.

Carefully, they twisted and picked the small red berries out of its bushes and vines, collecting them until these berries fill their baskets. One of them, Mr. Pineda, who just turned into a vampire few months ago, hummed happily as he placed his basket into the carriage.

When he gazed into the field, a strange light appeared. A silhouette of a woman can be seen as a familiar figure came out to greet him.

“Dad!”

“Ella, is that you? Oh, my daughter!” Mr. Pineda quickly ran and hugged his child, “How have you been? How’s your mother?”

“We’re fine dad, don’t worry. And you…” Ella slowly pulled away and gazed at his face, “You look a bit younger.”
