I looked into Will's eyes as soon as he walked in. Amethyst had summoned him through some magical call. I wondered if he knew. Amethyst meant much more to him than she meant to me. She had been the mother he had never had. Will would be heartbroken.
He smiled at me briefly then his eyes sweeped through the room and his expression changed visibly as he took in the Hurst brothers. He came over and sat beside me, taking my hand into his, deciding to ignore all the other presence in the room. Alfie didn't care much. He was absorbed in thoughts of keeping his still sleeping brother safe and probably wondering what else our host had to say.
"Amethyst has gone to get you hot chocolate," I informed Will when I caught him searching for her. Calling her name instead of "Granny" felt strange and yet I didn't know if I could ever call her that again. I didn't hold a grudge. It just seemed like a wall had grown between us. Will sensed it too and he looked at me, puzzled.
