Chapter 39: My Brother's Keeper (Part 1)

Three months ago across the city's wharf, over the harbour stood Ensom Island. Emerging from this island was a crumbling Victorian mansion which had become the revered psychiatric hospital for the mentally insane, Ensom Asylum. The island itself was a small rocky cay roughly one hectare in size and was connected to the mainland via a mile-long bridge. A gloomy cloud hovered over the island and rain fell hard.

A metal grilled, yellow prison bus and a navy-blue car tailing behind, drove on this bridge towards the asylum. Before entering on the island, they were greeted by two automatic messed gates that had barbed wire on top. Two watchtowers, each with sniper-armed guards, were on both sides of the gates.
