Chapter V

Date - Monday, 7th of October 2018.

Time - 10:04:34.

Place - Tulamull Police Station, County Meath of the West, Ireland.

The television is on right before Jillian Grant. She is listening to all the various information being told by the news reporter.

"Today, an extra 4,000 cases and just under 150 deaths have been reported of the virus. Minister of Health says that this virus is one of the worse the country has experienced in modern times..." the reporter announces. "Scientists testing out tests from patients say that this virus is unlike any other that they have seen and unlike any infection that we have experienced before. But more analysis and research of this new pathogen is to follow in the weeks and months that follow...".

Then, her colleague, Eimer, comes into the breakroom.

"Jillian, we have an emergency..." Eimer begins, instantly gaining Jillian's attention, she replies by standing up.

"Yes? What happened?" Jillian asks.

"We have gotten a call from the Armull Police Station, two of their officers went missing two days ago..." Eimer says. "The chief said that we, here at Tulamull, will take over the investigation. So, therefore, the chief wants to see you now.".

"Alright," Jillian replies as she follows Eimer to chief Edwards' office.

Upon her entry, Jillian is greeted by her 51-year-old boss, Chief Edwards.

"Thank you very much, Eimer..." Edwards says. With that being said, Eimer smiles at Edwards before exiting his office. He then shifts his look at Jillian. "Please do have a seat.".

Jillian does as she was told. She sits on a chair, opposite to Edwards.

"I heard we have an emergency, sir.".

"Well... not specifically us, but more so our neighbouring police in blue..." Edwards begins. He fetches two files from his desk cabinet. "Officer Sulivan and Officer Radley. That's the name of the two officers that went missing...". Edwards opens the two files and turns the opened files towards Jillian. She looks at the pictures of the two officers.

"They both look so young..." Jillian mutters under her breath.

Edwards must have heard when he replies with, "Sulivan was 32, while Radley was 28.".

Jillian widens her eyes at the new information that she has just found out. She then proceeds onto a brief read through both of their files.

"Are there speculations of how their deaths came about to be?" Jillian asks.

Edwards furrows his brows at her. "Death? I don't remember mentioning death at all in this talk. For all I know, they could still be alive. I have been told that they have only disappeared and nothing more...".

"Right. Sorry, sir..." Jillian replies, looking back down at the documents in her hands.

"Now, I know that you are new here, but I wanted to give you an opportunity for you to show me what you can do, and what your abilities as a police officer are so far," Edwards says a few seconds later.

His words cause Jillian to look back up at Edwards. She couldn't help but let a smile form on her lips.

"Thank you very much, sir. I promise, I won't disappoint you," she replies.

"Good..." Edwards says as a small smile is present on his lips too.

Suddenly, a knock.

Eimer enters the office once more, followed by a young police officer. A male.

Jillian turns around and looks at the guy, examining his facial features, he too looks down at her and does the same.

He has jet black hair. The matted gloss present makes it more than obvious that he used hair gel to style his hairstyle. He has a nicely trimmed stubble that stretches across his jawlines and down to his chin. The higher the stubble reaches up his cheeks the lighter it becomes. Then, it stops right by his cheekbones.

Jillian looks up into his eyes. He has dark brown eyes. Overall, he is very handsome.

The youthful police officer sees a beautiful female as he walks into the chief office. She has dark hazel brown hair that fell down her body in gentle curls, she also has ocean blue eyes. Her facial features are soft, friendly, almost fragile-like. Suddenly, he felt a sudden urge as if it was his duty to protect her, to take care of her. But he knew all too well that if this was the job she chose to do, she was more than capable of taking care of herself...

He spent a few more seconds looking at her.

Then, Edwards clears his throat. "Officer Grant," he begins, referring to Jillian. "This is Officer Wheeler. Officer Wheeler," he begins once more, looking up at the second officer in the room. "This is Officer Grant..." Edwards adds, looking back down at Jillian.

The two officers once again look at each other.

"Pleasure to meet you," Officer Wheeler begins, pushing his hand forward for a handshake. His voice sounded deeper than Jillian anticipated it to be.

She accepts the handshake be taking a hold of his hand. "Pleasure to meet you too, Officer Wheeler.".

They both shake hands.
