Bold lady

It had been a week and he was preoccupied with the guild's mission for that whole week, but he always made sure to return home every night.

While fixing his hair in front of the mirror, Cherom submerged into a deep thought.

It had been three years since he, Cherom was reincarnated in this fantasy world. Ever since the day of his reincarnation, Cherom promised to himself not to be entangled with any romantic interest.

But with his otherworldly handsome face and high grade talent, it was impossible for girls not to swarm at him. The only solution he came up with, was to present himself as a trash.

Of course, there was more depth to that move of his. As his body was blessed with an immensely monstrous potential, it was also intertwined with something he considered as a curse.

Should he reveal himself to the empire?

No.

Is he ungrateful doing that?

He believed, not.

The previous owner was educated for one purpose, to save and serve humanity. It was a body honed to serve and act as a weapon. Though Cherom had a strong sense of justice, but he felt not obligated to do such a thing. On his perspective, he would be suffocated of such a role. It was as if his neck was chained like a slave. Besides, the previous owner already died with that reason in mind.

Before his last breath, he was even able to do a significant deed for humanity. He died with honor. That was a heavy contribution, enough for Cherom to call it even.

The old was gone. The new had come.

The body had a new owner and was not obliged to follow the previous owner's desires and way of life. New meant change.

New owner, name, identity and goals. Everything was almost new yet he couldn't change how he look.

Not that he wanted to change it. In all honesty, he had some respect left for the previous owner. The only disadvantage was his appearance. It might likely attract some unwanted attentions with regards to the previous owner's identity.

He wanted to find something that could change the color of his eyes but he hadn't found one yet. His golden eyes were just too eye-catching as people very rarely have it. It was even believed that people with this eye color were definitely geniuses, and likely have at least High-Grade roots and above.

Thankfully, the people in this city didn't take it like that, it was the other way around. Those golden eyes became a symbol of a trash.

Actually, Cherom enjoyed his life this way.

Even if he was treated as a trash of the whole city, it meant freedom, way too better than carrying the burden of a race.

He wouldn't exchange this simple and happy life for a superficial fame and grandeur.

...

"Mother, I made you your favorite, vanilla pudding." Cherom showed his most charming smile while serving her a newly baked attractive dessert.

"Thanks dear, even so, you still have to attend school." In the next second, his godmother was totally emersed in the food and immediately forgot about his existence.

Cherom smiled wryly.

Just then he heard soft chuckles. Turning his gaze, he saw Eleina and her enchanting face.

'There this goes again. Abnormal heart!'

He immediately tried to get a grasp of himself. The girl was really bad for his heart. It took sometime for him to come up with decision, but he was firm with it this time.

He wanted to draw a line between him and Leina as everything was just going too unhealthy for him. When he was with her, he often remembered of his past and his unwanted painful memories.

Thus, he decided to avoid her in a way. To be distant in a way that his godmother and godfather wouldn't be alarmed.

'I should have a better control of myself from now on.'

He coughed and said, "Good morning."

"You're saying good morning but there's nothing good on your face."

"You already know why." He said in a little cold tone. Then he bore himself in his food and ate in a little fast pace.

After finishing his food, he said. "Mother, I will head out now."

"Okay, have a nice day at school dear."

Hearing that, made his smile froze. Then he just nodded and quickly stood up as if he wanted to leave the dining room so bad. It should also be, he wanted to avoid a certain person so bad.

When he was on the gate of the mansion, a familiar voice called for him. "Cherom, wait!"

Cherom stopped, yet he didn't looked back.

"You should better finish your food. Besides, we're not in the same class anyway. There's no reason for you to go with me. I'll go ahead."

His words sounded harsh but Cherom presumed Leina wasn't hurt in anyway. That girl was easy-going and he was confident she wouldn't took his words to heart. He knew that although, they were quite close Leina didn't seem to care about him so much. She was just casual to him, he believed.

All in all, this change was for the better. Moreover, if he took the risk, she might not take him seriously. He couldn't bear to face another love rejection again.

Rejection. He wanted to burry that in his past.

Although being a well-known trash, he experienced a lot of rejections, but he had gone immune to that. They're not people of importance anyway. Their words meant nothing.

But being rejected with someone you hold value the most, that was to die for. Just imagining it happening again, his world would surely end.

Anyone would say he was a jerk, but he was a jerk with a reason.

...

He brought nothing with him since he was not going to the class anyway. He would just find a good place to spend the rest of the time and play some cards.

Then he saw a familiar face. He sneered inwardly, 'This troublesome girl again.'

A tall and slender girl was heading her way to him. Her purple dress accentuated her luscious curves. Her beautiful face was both alluring and stunning, and her skin was flawless and fair. Her beauty gave her an air of elegance fit for a nobility.

"Hello there Cherom, wanna join me for a walk?"

"I'm sorry but I can walk on my own, young miss." He gave her a force smile. When he was about to walk out, she quickly got a grip his hand, making him stop and face her again.

In the next second, she held his face. He saw it coming but he chose to let her do so. If she was not a daughter of his godfather's friend, then he would have long gave her a lesson secretly.

"You know what, your eyes were so good to look at. You look dashing even when you're giving me an irritated look."

'This girl is completely a masochist! I have to think of how to get rid of her without using force.'

"Miss, I will be late for my class."

'Crap! I am not good at this! She wouldn't be swayed by that.'

"Why still attend class? It's a non-sense move. Cherom why not be my man then? Your very purpose is not in this academy. You'll become of worth when you're with me."

'I will choose to attend class and receive all bullsh*ts from the instructor rather than stay with you.'

Cherom looked away but she made him face her and even drew his face closer to hers. At the moment, what Cherom all wanted to do was to run with all his might.

"I don't look down on you, you know."

"I will take good care of you Cherom. I don't care what others say."

Her fingers were slowly tracing the line of his lips. Even if they were already surrounded with a crowd of students, the girl's boldness and confidence was something to the extreme.

"Get your hands off of him."

An arrow made out of blue flame landed near the girl's feet, just barely missing an inch.

"Eleina? We're having fun here you know." Still the girl didn't let go of Cherom's face.

"Chesca, do you really want to make an enemy out of me?"

"Fine. But it is just for now, next time, you will not have a chance to stop me." The girl named Chesca finally stepped back and her face pouted.

"Dream on." Leina said, then looked at Cherom.

"Cherom, follow me." Leina said with a tone sounding like an order.

Looking at Cherom who was glued on the spot, and seemed to have no plan moving, Leina decided to drag him by force.

"Eleina, you shouldn't force him like that! Cherom meet me after this!"

...

"Thanks. Anyways, this will be the last time since I am dropping out anyway."

"So you can have all the time and have a good time with that girl?" Leina's hands were clenched into fists.

Those purplish eyes were clearly hinting something yet Cherom chose to ignore it. Convincing himself that he was just seeing things and should not assume more.

"Of course not! What do you think of me? A boytoy?" His tone of voice was quite raised.

To end this, maybe a little lie would do.

He avoided her gaze and said, "You need to understand the fact that I am not suited for cultivation, unlike you."

He turned his back 'cause if he looked at her at the moment, all of his effort from the very start would crumble. He would surely melt in front of her. Worst, history might repeat itself. Which he couldn't let happen again in this new life.

"Eleina, I, your brother have already decided to drop out. Also, to stop being a burden to you here. After that, I am sure you can have more focus in cultivation and your progress will likely be faster."

"This will be the last day of me being a weight on your shoulder."

'This is also the start of my torture.'

He just wanted to have his ideal life different from his past one. However, in doing so, it hurt so much.
