"๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ be informed of your arrival, Esmeray. His ancestors have waited for your arrival for years, as they passed the responsibility to look for the crown of the sea to their future generations. Alpha Perseus himself awaits for you. Every single member of the Aqua pack has felt the change in the air - Damon is waking up soon and his first target is our pack. The rogue leader targets us since he thinks that we might reveal where you live. But I doubt that is even a mystery now considering that the rogues know that you are in the Ignis pack," Lily says.
Esmeray knew that Lily was right - her life was in danger. But more the people knew about her, the more dangerous it will be for her. Heaven knows how many spies the rogue leader might have in the Ignis pack itself only. Even though wolves are loyal to their pack, they wouldn't be able to protect themselves from the manipulation of a hybrid. From what she had read about Damon, he is very powerful since it took a God to defeat him.
"We can't tell Alpha Lucian. Even if we can trust him, I am not comfortable with everyone knowing the existence of the Merfolk. There is a reason why the division was made - to prevent the creation of hybrids and stop the war between the kingdoms. Lucian is too loyal to his pack and considering that I am the reason behind the killings, I fear that he might hand me over, to perhaps your king! I broke a law coming here - I am not even fucking supposed to be here! If the King knows about the Queen of the Sea breaking the law, then he might attack my kingdom," Esmeray said.
She had to contemplate everything. This was no longer about her alone. The prophecy pointed to a creature from the sea, and as the Queen, she is supposed to protect them. Except for the traitors of course, since she was adamant about getting her hands stained with the blood of those vicious sirens.
"There is already a war looming in our kingdom. We can't have another. I need to be back home, fighting the battle with my mate. He needs me. I can't stay here, Lily, I can't. We must find a route for me back home, soon," Esmeray continued.
Lily sighed and looked at Esmeray.
"You can't escape fate, Esmeray. The prophecy is meant for you, no matter what you think. Since the time you have been lost from your kingdom and found here, many Aquas have been killed by the rogues. Alpha Perseus will be glad to have you, Esmeray. The rest is in your hands," Lily said.
"We know that your kingdom is important for you, but I am sure we can find a common ground. As for finding your way back home, I will help you as much as I can," Ben said.
Esmeray nodded.
The heaviness in the air remained the same even when the door opened and Nate walked in with his father. Even though they laughed at the jokes, Esmeray's smile couldn't reach her eyes.
Although she didn't want her hands to be stained with the blood of innocent, they were. The lines between black and white were now blurred, and she hoped that there was some grey in between for the good of the people.

๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ walking towards the sea as she left the De Luca house after dinner. It was her natural instinct, in this world only Triton and the sea could calm her down.
But when she reached the sea, she didn't expect a night-black wolf with familiar forest green eyes lying on the beach and eyes fixated on the sea. It didn't stop her though, she oddly felt comfortable around Lucian now.
Lucian didn't need to turn around to know who walked in and sat beside him. Her smell even haunted his dreams as he imagined himself holding onto her in the middle of the sea, both of them dripping wet from water and their lips moving against each other in perfect harmony.
Her blue eyes gazed deep into his soul in those dreams, unraveling secrets he had hidden. He couldn't even kiss Mia without feeling that he was doing wrong to Esmeray. Their connection was still a mystery to him.
Esmeray sat beside him, her eyes on the sea. She missed her home too much.
The safety she had with Triton was a precious treasure she didn't understand the value of until she lost it. Her people, her family, and her mate were all she had in her mind, constantly. The weight of the entire world was on her shoulders - quite literally. They wanted her alive, but she had rather die than live the life the enemies had planned for her.
Lucian found himself looking at Esmeray as she gazed at the moon and the sea. He could feel the sadness - the smile he had once seen on her face when she was with Benjamin, was now a fading memory. She seemed lost.
Even his wolf found himself wanting to comfort her.
The mighty Alpha wolf nudged Esmeray in the arm to draw her attention. When she turned to face him, he could see the sadness dancing in her eyes. It broke his heart.
Without saying anything, she ran her hands through his soft black fur. Lucian found himself purring at her touch, his heart skipping a beat. The thought of Mia was gone when he was with her.
She leaned towards him, her head resting on his stomach as they both sat on the soft beach sand. Some words were meant to be left unspoken between them, for sometimes actions are all they ever need.
They were fighting their own demons every day, but the little light they had left was what kept them going. Lucian knew that there was a reason why he found her in the sea and come what may, he will find it. He knew that some secrets shouldn't be unraveled but the mysterious attraction he had towards her was dangerous.
It couldn't be just lust - because he found himself wanting to see her when he was awake, she even ruled his dreams. Why was he feeling this when he had already been blessed with his other half? Why he felt incomplete when he wasn't with her?
Why he wanted her name to be tattooed on his heart?
Esmeray's eyes were on the sea, as she missed her home.
And even though the sky was adorned with stars, his eyes were on her and her alone.
She was the star shining against his black sky.
